Topic Building momentum and finding time
Posted 17 May 2013 21:47
Hi all,
Just a quick question ...
I have published quite a few stories, on here, and also through other sites.
But, recently I have been finding it difficult to manage my time and get my head into writing (although the ideas are still free throwing)
So, basically I wondered, how do the writers here keep the creative juices flowing?
What strategies to get started when you have a little free time?
How do you maximize a 60 minute writing slot?
Any advice, tips, guidance and experiences appreciated!

Topic HELP needed! How do I write a text message exchange/conversation?
Posted 17 Oct 2012 21:23
Thank you all for your advice.
I thin I am going to go with the name1, name 2 script style method. Like Felix, I like to break it up with actions, thoughts and feelings, so it hopefully flows well and also looks good without being "unaesthetic!!

Hi all, Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully help out.
I am writing a chapter for an ongoing story that I am writing and I want to convey a text message conversation as part of the story. The two main protagonists have a text (sms) conversation during the chapter and I want to know what the most acceptable way of showing this is?
Is it to just write like script:
Name 1: Blah Blah Blah
Name 2: Blah Blah Blah
Or, is there a better way of showing this on a page?
Advice and guidance desperately needed!

Topic Ever written a fictional blog? Experiences appreciated!
Posted 22 Jul 2012 00:39
Hi all,
I have been toying with the idea of writing some fiction in the form of a blog.
If you have seen my stuff, I do maintain a general blog for my writing ( Skinny Dipping in My Dirty Mind ), but I am seriously considering maintaining a blog as if it were written by my main character. I have two or three what I think are really good ideas that would suit this more contemporary story telling method, but wondered, is it worth doing?
Has anyone any experience of writing erotic fiction like this in blog form? (with the exception of the super famous ones of course!)
Thoughts, opinions and experiences valued ...

Its been said before, but it has to be eye contact and a smile.
It is important that they eye contact is for the right amount of time, so as not to seem like a drooling pervert.
VERY IMPORTANT then is a second eye contact, with another smile. This follow is important IMHO.

Hi all,
I don't know if I am way off the mark here, but as the 2012 Olympics are just around the corner, I was invited by someone who had read other work that I had written, to try to pen some stories related to this great event!
So, anyway, this is my first effort.

Topic Advice on shifting tenses (Story development through recollection)
Posted 19 Jul 2012 01:33
Hi,
I may be committing a cardinal writing sin, but I have a story that I have nearly finished which basically revolves around a chance encounter between a guy and girl, but I am writing it from the point of view of the guy the morning after. It is looking likely to be 4-5000 words.
Basically, in summary:
Start of the story involves him waking up, then trying to recollect what happened.
Basically, he makes about three distinct moves around the flat he is in, recollecting more and more about what happened and who he was with.
It ends when she comes back and they talk.
OK, so my question, or my request for advice, is about how to handle the change in tenses. Within the context of the actual writing, I am happy with the way it is reading, but my BIG CONCERN, is how it will read. Should I do something in the formatting to differentiate between the present and the recollections?
Any advice appreciated.

Damn! If I had realised there was jelly beans on offer I would have been back sooner!
So, can I ask some advice. One of my stories needed revising and obviously missed time on the front page so people could read it!
How can I get people to see it? Whats the best way of shamelessly plugging without shamelessly plugging?
And, I have to enquire, those hats have got to leave some interesting tan lines?!

Don't worry about 'shamelessly plugging' your story. Just do it. Maybe think of a fun creative way to promote your story.
