While I'm a big Batman fan, the whole "revenge for his parent's death" thing isn't really me so I'm not 100% sure that I'd actually want to be The Batman. Still, one of the incarnations of Bats that focusses more on fighting crime and injustice and less on vengeance is mine could be me as a superhero. Kind of a more serious riff on Adam West's Batman. Love the car and the cool toys.

Iron Man is another one who appeals to me and has the bonus of being able to fly, my favorite superpower. I don't why, but the Iron Man armour is my favorite superhero "gadget/vehicle" after the Batmobile.

I think I like the idea of an ordinary guy (well, aside from being bajillionaires as Bruce and Tony are) who makes himself extraordinary rather than someone who just is extraordinary (like Superman or the Marvel mutant crowd) or gets that way by a fluke or gift (like Spiderman or Green Lantern).

Having openly gay celebrities like Ellen, Rosie, Elton, and the guy from How I Met Your Mother who used to play Doogie Howser (forget his name) has certainly blunted the negative (and positive, really) impact of outing. It basically means that when someone public comes out, they are no longer the first and immediately have a supportive community to back them up. The general public often greets it with a shrug unless its completely out of left field (if, for instance, a ladies' man like Clooney came out, I think that would make some jaws drop, much as Rock Hudson did back in the day when his death from AIDS made his orientation public).

Even in Canadian politics, someone coming out is no longer big news (not sure about other countries, including the USA). The new premier of Ontario is a lesbian and only the gay and conservative communities really made any issue of it (the former to celebrate, the latter to criticize). The mainstream media didn't even talk about it much, which is good. This province has some bigger fish to fry than who our premier goes home to at night (deficits, f-ed up healthcare system, etc.). We have several gay MPs in our federal caucuses at the moment and the only time their sexuality seems to get talked about nowadays is when a bill affecting it comes up.

That said, with loud conservative communities in US and Canada still willing to use homosexuality as a reason to target celebrities and politicians, I'm not sure that the days of "outing" are quite over yet. As long as there is a potential for harm from coming out, some people will stay in the closet and other people will try to find them in there and get them out.

I'm not much of a gamer, so the character aspect doesn't mean much to me. IOW, I'm not going to get off on pretending to do Lara Croft or whoever. However, any woman who wants to dress like Lara Croft (old or new) around me is more than welcome to do so. I do think Princess Peach is rather cute in those big pink dresses so I suppose if a woman wanted to do a Mario (or Luigi) with Peach fantasy with me, I wouldn't say no.

Is anyone offering cyber-baptisms/christenings? Maybe those cyber-priests we're going to have doing the cyber-weddings can take this one on, too?

I'm not going to deny that her being active in the biz would make me uncomfortable. One who was retired would be less problematic, I suspect. Still, if we connected on some level (besides sexual) and enjoyed being together...I couldn't totally rule out the possibility.

What I do hope is that I would be dating HER, not her porn persona (because the two are not necessarily the same thing). IOW, that I would want her for being her not for what I've seen her do on screen.

I enjoy writing and have never had an audience before. My goal is simply to get some stories out there and get some reactions to my writing. I do have grander plans for doing something more (a novel, but likely not an erotic one) so it's a bit a of playground for me to get my style and such worked out in front of an audience. Kind of like the amateur singer jumping up on stage on open mike night, I guess.

I also can't stand it when an Author uses character names in every single sentence 3 or 4 times, " Jane slid her hand ever so slowly up John's leg, John enjoyed that." " Jane loved that John enjoyed that.", "John stroked Jane's her slowly while Jane snuggled her head on John's shoulder." ... it happens.


I find that I spend a lot of time on this sort of thing when I'm editing and rewriting stories. I generally agree with you so I try to mix up my character references as much as possible. Throw in some pronouns, phrases like "his wife" or "her sister" or whatever is appropriate. With two people having straight sex, it's fairly easy to mix in the pronouns and other references.

Once there's more than one of the same sex (e.g. in a gay or lesbian scene, or group sex of various configurations), you need to be awfully careful about pronoun antecedents or things get confusing. Even saying things like "his wife" in a scene with two couples could be problematic. You do need to mix up your character references, but sometimes names are the easiest way to ensure that the right body part is in the right other person's body part.
