When darkness fell around me,
A blanket of despair and fear.
I felt so lost, so scared and alone,
All my love slipped away in a tear.
When my strength had all but left me,
And slowly I slipped away.
It was you that came and saved me,
A debt I can never repay.
I laid my heart below your feet,
Praying, for you to tread softly.
For I have but just the one,
It is yours should you wish it, gladly.
For in the absence of hope, when all was fallen,
I had found my little white dove.
A sense of peace and tranquility,
My longing for true love.
A stolen token of your affection,
It took my breath away.
Your kiss still burns, upon my lips,
My fear and trepidation to allay.
To rest my head upon your breast,
Soothing in its fall and swell.
Listening to your heart beat softly,
Your tender breath, inhale and expel.
The sun had turned the evening sky,
Crimson and bronze and gold.
A stunning flood of ethereal passions,
A sight of heaven, to behold.
I knew it then, as I know it now,
You and I were always meant to be.
Two ships upon the oceans of life,
Sailing off together at sea.
A love so strong, it binds eternal,
To cheat death, forever of his prize.
To rise again on the other side,
And all that love implies.
A vision of beauty, to cut through the darkness.
Your eyes of blue, my fields of gold,
You are my heaven, my elysium.
To feel your loving arms enfold.
Someone once told me, love would save us all,
The salvation of your very soul.
I hope that this true for everyone,
For it is for me, you make me whole.
If only all souls could be as happy as mine,
What a place the world would truly be.
A reality surely of imagination,
But still one, I would love to see.
Without love your heart is but a ticking clock,
Measuring the passing of your time.
Until the hour approaches, your inevitable midnight,
And it sounds, the echos of the chime.
As the sun now sets, over the horizon,
You hold me close, my angel, my salvation.
I embrace you with all of my longing,
Forever, for the duration.
Brightest star in all of the sky,
Shine for me and brighten the night.
Turn dark to light and light shine bright,
My constellation of pure delight.
