How can we?

A man questions his lush-life.
How can we face this uncertainty,
Running in its maze of dead ends?
Fraught with the unknown.
Hiding in shadows.

How can we get past these barriers?
Solid yet imagined,
Holding back our passion,
And burdening our spirits.

How can we unleash our true nature?
Simmering passion yet hindered.
Truths of years waiting to be unbridled.
Unsure, but steadfast in our unity.

How can we love as we were destined?
Forbidden, yet written in the stars.
Distant but in synchronicity.
Unknowingly twinned our lives eternity.

How can we keep our sanity?
Surrounded by purgatory,
Immaturity and unbelief.
Harbouring each other in safety.

How can we make love remotely?
Tapping our souls,
Across the voids of space.
Wanting yet unknown and lost.

How can this love last eternally,
When the boundaries change
With the ocean tides?
Pulling and pushing in their fury.

How can I prove myself,
Yet keep the passion alive?
Unbound from convention.
Unbridled from tethered reins.

This love is resolute, unbowing.
Withstanding all of earth's forces.
An eternal testament to infinity.
Undying, unknowing, unbreakable.

How can we, indeed? Well asked. And the surreal aspect of the entire situation well-described. I believe we have all been there at one time or another; some of us may be there right now ...

Beautifully written. I especially liked your use of paradox to express the ambivalence one can feel on Lush.

Deeply and passionate. Some things can be relied upon. Like your poetry.
