love and pain and beauty are often one.
Do you wonder what’s in my head
As you lie awake in bed
In the cathedrals of my dreams
Nothing is ever what it seems
And the laughter that you hear
Are the echoes of my tears
Look behind my empty eyes
At a heart so full of lies
If I ever love again
I’ll be ready for the pain I know it brings

Are you painting over me
Until I’m what you want to see
In the temples of my head
All the worshippers are dead
And the silence that you hear
Masks a cacophony of fears
Look beyond my empty eyes
At a world that stutters by
If you ever love me again
I’ll be ready for the pain I know it brings.

Do you lie awake at night
And think of ways to make things right
If we fall in love again

This will most def. go into my favorites... This is pure beauty... the way you chose to describe your thoughts/emotions is something special. Excellent!

Really beautiful and haunting. I can see the beauty in such melancholy. There is something sweet about the ache, isn't there? I can definitely relate and feel the places your mind went to inspire this. It has such honesty, and that's the mark of a great poet. Well done!
