Into the Hard Day's Light

A fantasy song about a woman hoping to build a relationship with a woman she loves deep in her heart
Inspired by the song “A Hard Day’s Night” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney

(Big guitar chord)

I worked a hard day and night
It left me tired
As a dog.

And now I seek your light
As I go driving
Through the fog.

‘Cause when I log on to view
And find a message from you

It makes me
Feel all right.

You know I work all say
A country doctor
For the kids.

While you study half a world away
An art collector
Placing bids.

You call the world your home
I’m half as remote as Nome!

But still we
Feel a spark.

When we meet
Will it all seem to be right ...

For the two of us
Kissing and hugging so tight?

Into the Hard Day’s Night
We could go strolling
Hand in hand.

And in the bedroom light
We could make music
To beat the band.

Perhaps we’ll cry and we’ll moan
And speak in sweet dulcet tones
About the love we make.

Now I know
I haven’t found
My first love ...

But could she
Fly to me on
Wings of a dove?

Yeah! So when

We have that first day’s night
Will it be like a
 Girl-girl porn?

And after love burns bright
Will there be true love
The next morn?

From your and my point of view
We should make one out of two

Planning to
Take the flight.

Into a
World so bright.

Into the
Hard Day’s Light!

(One bar of guitar music)

Author's note: LaurenBeth didn't know it until I told her, but this song is dedicated to her. The other woman mentioned briefly is also my friend (some of you will know who she is), and I got the two of them to know and like each other. This is LaurenBeth's song of hope, filtered through my romantic eyes, that they someday meet and become a couple.

Jeannie, what a lovely comment. That was written for a friend who was living in Alaska and later moved away and quit Lush. How nice that it had the power to appeal to you and to your girlfriends!

I just read your poem Peter and it's wonderful. I must tell Tracey and Callista. Tracey and Shaun have lots of Beatles records and tapes here that they still play. They are/were a wonderful group. A pity they were before my time as I would have loved to see them live.

I liked your poem. I won't lie I did sing it. It's very passionate and heartfelt. Beautiful. 5
