This is my heartbreak anthem.
I remember everything we used to say,
Every kiss that sweetened my day.
Why'd you go to that other girl?
She doesn't know all we've been through,
The memories between me and you.
The way you held me through the night.
You dried my tears when I cried,
We joined our souls so deep inside.
Does she know how we used to laugh?
How I took care of you when you were sick?
Made you meals since you can't cook a lick?
Every time I see you together I cringe.
I can't help but remember the pain,
I see you notice me and wonder if you feel the same.
Am I alone in this world of strife?
Do you even realize what you took from me?
Ruined my dreams of who we were supposed to be?
How you just go on with a smile...
It kills me inside, I hope you know...
Makes my heart feel cold as snow.
But then I remember how shitty you are.
It thaws my heart and makes me smile.
Makes me forget the pain for just awhile.
I remember who I was before you came into my life.
I remember how strong that I can be,
I remember that I rely on only me.
I take it all one step at a time.
My life goes on, I am strong.
And I'll find that "one", where I belong.
So thanks for the lessons that you taught me.
Thanks for all the good times we had,
I think I'll thank you for even the bad.
Just know you're never welcome again.
I'm moving on, taking my life back,
Going forward, staying on track.
You may have broken my heart all those years ago,
But I'm a better person for it now.
And I'll move past all this someday, somehow.
I'll keep on trying, though you wanted me to fail.
I'll find my happiness one day.
And then you'll have not a thing to say.
So this is my heartbreak anthem.
But I don't need it anymore,
Since now I'm stronger than I was before.
