For all the times it felt like a brand,
Laying there across my hand.
Shouting don’t ask, don’t try,
This woman is not free to buy.
Not that this was always planned,
But it still lays there on my left hand.
Stopping me from running by,
And losing my tough guy.
For this reason I abide,
But refuse to become a Stepford bride.
Standing at the altar like a frump,
Hiding my almighty bump.
Keeping up with your stride
And watching as our family cries.
Smiling as our throat grows lumps,
Both looking down to our bump.
The life we made has been up and down
But still we tried not to frown.
The joys have come with our baby’s birth
However some we leave to rest in the earth.
We get through this not letting us drown
Mostly through acting like perfect clowns.
From there we start our marriages rebirth
Making sure we know it’s true worth.
For all the times it felt like a brand,
It now lays happily across my hand.
I say don’t ask, don’t try,
This woman does not want to buy.
For us this was not planned,
But will stay there forever on my left hand.
Stopping me from running by,
And leaving my heart with my tough guy.
