only a shadow

anyone else will only be a shadow

just when I think I am finished,

that I can move on,

I hear you speak.

once again I become a part

of that pulsing river flowing

warm and dark into itself.

my heart longs for a rhythm

that will never be again
.

and perhaps never was.
.

but dreams still call

as I seek that kiss

that will equally satisfy...

that heart that knows mine

and thinks it is full of magic.
.

a most grievous realization soon comes.

wherever else I give

my body

or

my heart,

it will only be a shadow.

Your poetry is so simple, but so meaningful. I love how it's stripped back. Pure poetry. Another 5

A lovely poem from the heart of a lovely lady.

I'm reminded of a radio program, "The Shadow", that I listened to when I was a kid. Part of the intro to the program was "The Shadow Knows".

What a lovely way to put your feelings of a lost love that you really can't leave. I know that feeling only too well. I had a love that has been lost and when she pops in to say hello I feel all warm inside. Yet I know it will never be the same. How I long for that to come back but it won't. YUou expressed that so well as you always do. You touch us all by just being you. Great work Thank you for that.

Beautifully expressed, Sugah...

Although things will always transport us back, time is the great healer which allows us to move on...

"... pulsing river flowing flowing warm and dark into itself." wow, great word picture. Sugah, every time I read your work I feel something... isn't that the mark of a good poet? Thank you for that.

a soft, lovely lament which reminds me of the old song, Me and My Shadow. Those "most grievous realizations" are powerful, aren't they?
Again, your words move so gracefully and inevitably.
