The Old Willow Tree
The Old Willow Tree in the midst of the park
Is where I shall be an hour before dark.
My beautiful sweetheart is joining me there,
Wearing a white lace dress, lilac flowers grace her hair.
A lily pond rests by the old Willow Tree.
Until you marry me.
The shallow pond shimmers when the sun says “Hello”.
The lilies dance softly as a summer breeze blows.
She stands head bowed, at the shallow lily pond,
Graceful, Ethereal, with hair of golden blonde.
Nobody knows she’s an angel in disguise.
With her wings of spun silk she’s my beautiful bride.
Soon we will be one until death do us part.
Two golden rings, intertwine our hearts.
Near the old Willow Tree, we met by happenstance.
Beneath this old tree we shall have our first dance.
Now I must away, it’s an hour before dark...
I’m to wed my sweetheart in the midst of the park.
Take my hand sweetheart, could we take a short walk
To the old Willow Tree, just you and me.
Special thanks to Andrew for his help, and to Lyfbuz for allowing me to include one of his haiku in the poem.
