The pond is the enemy between you and me

It is determined never to let us be

I sit on this side and watch from afar

While you are over there traveling around in your car

You say we are like Romeo and Juliet

Just two star-crossed lovers that have never met

We both live our lives not knowing what might be

Who knows if we will ever sit and sip a cup of tea

I have seen your face in a picture or two

And I can’t help but think how perfect you would be to woo

I know I can never have the chance

So, sit here and enjoy every little glance

Maybe someday life will intervene and give us a go

But until then we must keep our love on the down low

The pond will continue to fight to keep us apart

Of course, we have the right to do our own thing and hope for a start

The pond may be big

But it can be broken like a twig

All we need do is jump on a plane

And start our own life without a stop or wain

Until the day we defeat the pond
