My soul mate in life was a good man named Ron.
I cherished and loved him, but now he is gone.
Our love was so special, so tender, so deep.
Then one night without warning, he passed in his sleep.

How we met was so funny, just lust at first sight.
Not so very long after, he stayed through the night.
The lust turned to caring, then grew into love.
We were so good together, like a hand and a glove.

We had thunder at times, but also had passion.
How much my heart raced in a very quick fashion.
Whenever we touched, I doubt he ever quite knew.
My soul mate, my lover, best friend; teacher too.

Through the years both together, though not husband and wife.
He put up with my antics, then just left this life.
Gone was the life we had shared, bringing joy to each other.
But returned for a minute, a great gift from the Father.

Said he was sorry he left me, just so sudden as this,
He was sad and was worried, said goodbye with a kiss.
Then on hearing a bell ring, asked if I would be fine.
Going back to the Father, said don’t cry and don’t pine.

Now a flower, a puppy, and two girls who’re just silly;
Have helped heal the pain though it’s been rocky and hilly.
Captured my heart and my soul, causing my spirits to soar.
I was just locked in my grief, now they’ve opened the door.

Never knowing if feeling would again fill my heart.
There’ve also been others, each having a part.
Helping me to recover, from the hurt and the pain.
Shown the path to the future, to feel love again.

So I just want to tell him that I'll be okay
Moving back to the living, though just day by day.
I know I’ll wake up one morn and suddenly see
My future, the roadway, and God’s good plan for me.

After writing my first poems for a very special friend, I just knew I had
to write this one too. I miss him with all my heart.
