The week-long meeting lasted three days, ending in failure for both sides. 

I got a lucky flight, did an office stop, then dropped into Jimmy's for a drink before going home to Claire.

He slides onto the next stool, bumping my arm, spilling my drink.

"Oh, shit! Sorry!" he blurts, "I'm just kinda nervous. Been banging this chick online and tonight's our first real. She's so fucking hot, man, sooooo fucking nasty. God, there she is!"

Across the room, they slide into an anything, everything kiss. 

At least I won't have to go all that far to surprise her now.
