I don't have the guts to make it clear that I'm not interested in a guy. It's hard to say, "I'm not attracted to you because..."

If I don't like the guy at all, then I just ignore his calls until he gets the message. If I like the guy as a friend, then it gets tricky. I've had "friends" who tried to kiss me and I turned my face away. After that, they usually understand that I'm not interested sexually, although some guys can be persistent.

I'm not sure I understand how the ID exchange prevents trouble.

I've met a handful of people off the internet (even 14 years ago before it was cool/acceptable). My safety has never been compromised, even though there was no ID trade.

First, you need to spend some online time with the person. You can get a good feeling for someone that way. If they creep you out online, they will likely creep you out MORE in person.
Second, spend some time on the phone. That's a good way to get to know someone a bit better.
And finally, it is best for first meetings to take place in public.

I can't think of any use for these things. As for tanning, wouldn't that still leave an unwanted mark for those of us who shave/wax down there?

As a mom, here's my opinion....

Each of my children is so different. As such, they each need to be raised differently, according to what suits him/her best. There is no "one size fits all" with regard to parenting.
