Monocle what you are doing is amazing. I know I need to do more. I have a hard time watching people driving SUV's and 4-wheel drive pickups when they hardly use them in 4-wheel drive. In our area this happens a lot. Watching a show recently that one the commentators felt in his opinion the pipeline will be approved before 2014 elections when Democrats can capture as much momentum as possible going into 2014 elections. I think he's right since their people basically are approving it.

Melman your right about the fact we as a country have done very little to lower our consumption of energy. How many people do we know driving vehicles getting 20mpg or less when most of us should be driving vehicles that get 30mpg or more? Hopefully this decision does have to wait till we have a huge disaster with a train derailment. People in the path of these trains are at a greater risk than most are aware of. It's easy for someone not in the path to try and shut it down, but if they care for other people we should be getting behind the pipeline. The tar sands is a Canadian issue that's pretty much out of our control.

I don't think we know that much more about the pipeline today that we didn't know five years ago. We are not shutting down production just putting into place the best option. Safer ,cheaper and much more environmentally sound. We need to invest more in research of alternative fuels yet not push an alternative like corn ethanol which makes absolutely no sense(cost more, replaces very little oil and reeks havock on the environment). Is it possible there is money to be made on these permits and the administration is not getting what they want.

In our area it looks like rail has to be at near full capacity. So if volume increases they will probably need another means of transportation. It's clearly time for this administration give the people and answer and if it's a no what's the reason.

Where is the oil shipped rail at present coming from? The oil produced in North Dakota needs to be dealt with. I don't think this is a Canadian only issue. Part of the pipeline is already built. Using the rail is by far the worst option of the two. A major disaster by rail is only waiting to happen. After the recent train derailment in North Dakota Warren Buffet was spotted investing in pipeline technoligy so there may be hope. It is time to quit kicking the can down the road. If you lived near one of the rails being used you would know what I mean. By far some of the largest shipments I have ever seen, by that I mean lots more tanks per trains and more trains in number.

It's currently being shipped rail big time with a much larger impact to the environment and safety is a concern in the areas these trains travel. The fact that Warren Buffet is heavily invested in the rail system tells me Barrack's not going to let it happen. When cost and safety is weighed in the pipeline is a no brainer. The jobs might as well stay here verses shipping them overseas.

Was watching a program on the public channel where Pat Moyer was roasting a Republican Governor for the state cuts he was making, easy to criticize but the cuts need to start somewhere. We don't need to turn the government into another Detroit. A equally challenging documentary could have been made on Detroit and what their past leadership has done.

Your exactly right and we need to start now before the debt becomes to large to fix.

Monocle if Obama doesn't pull a carrot out his hat 20 trillion of debt is a given that you pretty much have to agree with. I have two sixteen year olds and I asked them how this could be dealt with and they figure it's out of control. What's your solution?

Monocle your so quick to define a lie, but you know it's taught me to do a better job of fact checking and to not talk off memory as much. My major concern as noted many times is the debt this president will leave this country and this has been a major stumbling block in congress. Your saying when Obama made his famous quotes on the debt he had no clue how bad it was yet 2009 is when he made the quote about cutting the deficit in half. That was four years ago and I have yet to see a single attempt to lower it. If 9 trillion was a massive debt what's 20 trillion. Like the man from California that talked about the experience he and his girlfriend were having with Obamacare this creates a cheerleading base if your one of the people subsidized. Who ever runs in 2016 this has to be at the top of the list of issues they will have to deal with.

It's interesting to go back a play his youtube speeches(Obama). In 2008 he talks about how unpatriotic it was for Bush to raise the debt from 5 trillion to 9 trillion in 8 years yet over his term he will raise it to over 20 trillion(more than double and two and half times what Bush added during his 8 years). Monocle is right I misquoted he was going to cut the deficit in half and not leave our children that large debt load. At some point our children will not see this all that funny.

I never liked the war in Iraq nor do I like the fact that Obama expanded the war in Afghanistan. Terrorism will exist in too many locations for us to extinguish it. It's a well known fact Obama swore he would cut the debt in half. It would be a success if just one year during his presidency he balanced it, that means adding zero to the debt. With his programs there's no way it happens. So I see that comment having about as much value as the ones he's made for Obamacare.

Do you think if your a parent to one of the four Americans killed in the attack you deserve an answer to some of the obvious questions? Than to have Hillary at a congressional meeting make the comment "what difference does it make" when she was in a position to deliver the answers to these questions. Who ever wins the next election is going to find themselves in a very difficult position with this country being more than likely over 20 trillion in debt behind a president that promised to cut it in half and totally belittled the president before him for what he did to the debt. Hope and change is more than likely the main theme for who ever runs. Republicans will always be criticized for holding back congress but when you look at our debt level the reason is pretty obvious people will wonder why they didn't do more.

Uiongoon there's another thread that address's the same issue(byronlord). Until this plays out who knows what the right answer is. I only wish the public would have been given the truth followed by great leadership into well run program. The whole thing has been a mess with president throwing a bunch of lies out there before his reelection aimed at scoring political votes. The only thing that makes it affordable is if your one of the people being subsidized for everyone else it gets more expensive. The web site is disaster and I don't know if it's safe to put your personal information on it.

I sadly voted for him in his first term (hope and change). After four years his performance speaks for itself. All the hollow promises and ObamaCare just speaks for itself. He built his election around the 47% that in turn just piles up the debt. How is this country going to get it's way out of 20 trillion in debt he's going to leave this country?

I found this on the US message board and it didn't carry any racist creed but if you think about it, it would definitely qualify for the 47% quote. Elections can definitely be won by buying votes. If people do not wise up to the level of debt this countries in we will have a collapse. At present Obama doesn't get out of office without 20 trillion in debt and this program looks to add more to it. I don't call people names but I'm definitely not an Obama cheerleader.

Monocle I didn't check it out but he did give the zip code area so you can verify if it's possible. My guess is it checks out. Call it a lie if it doesn't but this is why they needed to kick people out of their present policies so they could help pay for the subsidized plans. I predict as they effect more people and they will things will get more hostile.

What Obamacare really means-got this from another message board. " I'm 54 year old engineer and make little over $60,000 per year. My 61 year old girl friend makes about $18,000 per year. The cheapest low grade policy under Obamacare cost me $482 per month and has a $5000 deductible. For my girlfriend the same policy cost $1 per month. That's right $1 and I'm not making this up ( California zip code 93940). So OK, clearly Obamacare is a scheme that involves putting the burden of healthcare onto the middle and upper income wage earners. But there's a lot more to it. Now consider this if I buy a low deductible premium policy such as I had withy my last employer my cost is $882 per month for my girlfriend the same policy is $4 per month. That's right $4 per month for a zero deductible policy-the kind of thing you get when you work at IBM ( that cost the most IBM employee's $170 out of pocket for their coverage). It's bad enough that I will be forced to subsidize the Obamacare scheme in the first place. But even I agreed with the basic scheme, which of coarse I do not, I would "never" agree to subsidize premium policies. Why must I pay $482 for something another guy gets for a dollar? Should the other guy be able to buy the premium policy for $4 when it cost me $882? I have to pay $10,632 a year for the same policy that cost the other guy $48. $10,000 of net income is the same as 2 months work. $48 is something I could pay for collecting aluminum cans and plastic bottles one day a month. Are you starting to get an idea what obamacare really about? Obamacare is not about dealing with inequities in the healthcare system. That's the cover story. The real story is that it is a massive political power grab. Do you think anyone who can insure himself with a premium policy for $4 a month will vote for anyone but the political system that provides the deal? Obamacare is about enabling, subsidizing, and expanding the Left's power base, at the tax payer's expense. Why would I vote for anyone but a Democrat if I can have healthcare for $4 a month? For the matter, why would I go to college or strive for a better job or income if it means I have to pay real money for healthcare coverage? Heck, why study engineering when I can be schlub for $20,000 and buy a F-150 with all the money I have saved"? Obamcare : It's all about political power."

Monocle is Obama Derangement Syndrome the filling you get when your premium more than doubles and your deductible goes from $1500 to $5000 and you have better insurance but half of it you don't need? A trip to Hawaii would probably be the cure right? The best part is you don't have to watch the Fox Channel to get it, it's mandated!

Monocle I was surfing internet forums on Obamacare discussions when I ran across the discussion. After your statement I did a search Obama vs Nixon. A lot of discussions and they go way back to 2011 in the Huffington Post. Almost every discussion talks about media bias. It's a good way to get a feel what kind of effect Obamacare is having on the consumer. I always held a president with high regard but when you know they can look right into the camera and tell a lie to gain political points and they know what their doing is going to hurt a lot of people it gives you a hollow filling. There are people in the world with true and good intentions. Have a Merry Christmas!

Monocle Pelosi's exact words are " We have to pass the bill to find out what's in it" later a news reporter would ask her if she read it and she just ignored her. With her leadership role that was a pretty stupid comment but after having played a part in passing the bill she was so full of herself she couldn't help herself. You can look at how poorly the web site was designed, but the rest of it is equally bad. This group overseeing this program look like they have other concerns than a well run program. There definitely is enough money being doled out in this program. It's all about leadership and the excuse well has run dry and Obama needs to point the finger at himself. A reporter in Minnesota was trying to paint Al Franken as better senator than Michele Bachman because he purchased his insurance off the Minnesota exchange verses the DC exchange where Michele purchased her's . Al spent more money for his but in the big picture he voted for this mess Michele voted against it. In my book that's what matters most. Even if Obama buys his insurance from this mess it's still a mess. There are comparison being made between Obama and Nixon the major difference Obama owns main stream media where Nixon didn't.

Monocle you are supporting one of the greatest if not the best liar this country has ever seen. The sad thing is the aftermath he is going to leave this country. People like you and main stream media have held him in place but the truth is starting to come out and I hope he is held accountable. How many excuses are people going to accept before they realize the truth that things aren't getting better and it's his policies that are holding the economy down? Monocle a lot of comments in here are opinions and your fact checker probably will have a hard time finding the opinions false or truth. Much like DLizze state about the insurance industry making out big in this program. I have a friend that's a Democrat that works at a high level in the insurance industry that stated before they got their hands on the actual wording in Obamacare they were concerned they would take a hard hit but said when they looked at the bill it looked like the insurance industry wrote it. Is that a fact no just hear say. It also would be interesting to know how much money was donated to Obama's campaign by the insurance industry.

Topic What is the GOP going to tell all those people they denied Obamacare?
Posted 13 Dec 2013 17:46

Ladyx I now know I used that phrase "free ride rather loosely" and I do believe there are people who need assistance and we should help them. I also believe there politicians out there that can use this process to garner votes. Unfortunately voters don't seem to react to this unless the bill is directly coming out of their pocket as Obamacare is. Right now this administration is steam rolling towards 20 trillion of debt. Much like the claims this president has made about Obamacare he also has made about the debt (he was going to cut it in half and totally ridiculed Bush for out of control spending). I think more people are losing faith in this president and it's starting to show up in his approval rating. I think as a president he needs to step forward and lead this country and start by telling people the truth. He 's talked about transparency it would be good time to start.

Monocle you are exactly right and he didn't create the food stamp program either. Point is he greatly expanded each program and as sexynun would point out it leaves the hard working tax payers paying for another persons free ride. Your main man just won a great achievement from PolitaFact. He worked hard and he deserves it. Check it out. Of course you know more about lies than the average person. He won the award today congratulations!

Monocule I have gotten used to his excuses and just expect more of them for the next 3 years. Finally the promises he's made with Obamacare has backed him in to a corner he can't get away with excuses and blaming other people he owns this one. If people take notice they will see a similar trend with a lot of his other issues and hold him responsible . I don't know another president where every week your almost know something new is going to rear up.

Monocule were completely on two different sides of the ship. I see the person that was going to cut the debt in half-you can keep your plan - save the typical family $2500 and I don't see any of these things coming to pass. You know how you can tell he his lying , his lips are moving.

Sexynun you pretty much nailed it but the sad thing is that's pretty much what helped this president get reelected. Free cell phones- half again more people on food stamps with debt rate that's getting out of control. He also wants to bring in more illegals and they pretty much ignore imigration laws. What kind of a future is he leaving your son. He was going to cut the debt in half but how can you with the programs he's running.

The Obama's approval rating speaks volumes, over half of it is about Obamacare. I worry for my children about the debt and I believe this program just adds to it. I do not see us getting him out of office and being less than 20 trillion in debt coming from a person that blamed Bush for out of control spending. At 20 trillion of debt what percentage of every dollar collected goes to pay the interest on the debt? I never hear him saying anything about getting spending under control. He's more often crying about having his spending limited. When I talk about the dust settling I think his program needs drastic changes which I think are possible then it might work.

This program was put together by the Democrats, many Republicans have stated the Democrats own it. If you want to keep your doctor or your old policy you can keep it - period. It will save the typical family $2500. Sound familiar? Now take a little time and examine the web site, what a joke and they spent over 600 million with little protection from hacking and that should have been the foundation it was built on. A lot of lies built around poor leadership designed to blame everyone else and when that doesn't work they play the race card. What did Pelosi say? We would like it when we see it to much to read. We're finding out now. The big thing they do have working for them is they own main media which can help prop up their agenda.
