Topic Toy Review: Luna Smart Bead ~ LELO's Kegel Trainer
Posted 13 Dec 2014 08:52

The Luna Smart Bead by LELO

A Personal Pelvic Trainer for Longer, Stronger Orgasms!

There’s no question that when you’re at the gym, you get a better work-out with a personal trainer than if you’re just making up your own workout routine as you go along. Unless you have specific direction, guidance and motivation, you’re apt to take your time at the water cooler, go easy on yourself on the sets and reps (who’s looking, right?) and get distracted by social opportunities. Ok, not everybody does this at the gym, but unless you’re a dedicated gym-rat or body builder, you may not be getting the quality of work-out that you ideally wanted when you walked in the door.

The same logic follows for Kegel exercises. Many women will swear that they do them all the time, or at least when it crosses their mind to start performing Kegel-squeezes and vag-crunches while washing the dishes or sitting behind their office desk. Think about how committed you are to these? Do you just do a few randoms and then forget about it? Do you count? Do you vary the length and intensity of your Kegels? Do you have a plan for gradually intensifying the exercises based on your improvements? For most women, that’s probably a ‘no’. Not to mention that some women still don’t even know what a Kegel is, how to do it, or why it’s important.

OK, Why Are Kegels Important?

Kegel exercises strengthen the muscles of your pelvic floor and make them stronger. The pelvic floor is basically the hammock or sling of muscles and tissues that holds your organs (reproductive, bladder etc.) in place. These muscles can weaken over time due to pregnancy, childbirth, weight gain and ageing. This can lead to scary things like incontinence, uterine prolapse and weaker orgasms. You want to keep things tight in that area for health reasons as much as for sexual ones. The stats for urinary incontinence are much higher than you might think. It can affect 20%-30% of young women, 30%-40% of middle-aged women, and up to 50% of older women.*

Vaginal muscles are not unlike other muscles of the body – you can strengthen them and keep them in shape, or they can get weaker over time. Strong Kegels will help set you up for longer and stronger orgasms, and who doesn’t want that? Even if you think your Kegels are already strong, how do you really know? It’s not like you can look at a comparison chart or ‘test’ them.

To help solve these sexual and health dilemmas, LELO has introduced the Luna Smart Bead .

This is a cool little device that uses Smart Technology™ to assess your Kegel abilities, sets and guide you through the appropriate level of work-out and then it actually grades you on your pelvic floor strength and stores these details for later. The goal is to ascend the levels, over time, until you’re a Master (do we get a pink belt for this?).

How it Works:

The Luna Bead is very intuitive and easy to figure out.

Like other LELO toys, it has the familiar soft body-safe silicone and is shaped for easy-insertion, although it’s recommended to use a bit of lube. It’s not uncomfortable though and is similar in size to most vibrating eggs on the market.

You press the ‘+’ button and it will flash what level you’re at. To start, the Bead sets you at ‘Intermediate’. It will vibrate three times to signal the beginning of the work-out and delay a few seconds to allow you to insert the device. From there, it takes you on a series of pelvic reps and sets. Your job is to contract and clench when you feel a vibration and relax when you don’t. The sets vary and build in intensity as the session proceeds. Knowing that you’re going to be assessed on your abilities at the end of your five minute workout should keep you on track. This is where the Bead shines compared to other Kegel balls and beads on the market – you’re guided through everything, so the duration and intensity of Kegel exercising becomes a no-brainer. You know you’re getting the right level of work out, while still being challenged to improve.

At the end of your workout, the device will assess and store your level of Kegel expertise and adjust future workouts according to your pelvic floor strength. Even if you take the battery out (which is recommended by the way, to preserve your battery-life), it still remembers your stats.

In a way, it’s kind of similar, in theory, to a video game, where improving your abilities and beating your last assessment is probably going to motivate you to keep using it, especially if you’re the competitive type. Every woman who’s ever done a Kegel clench has probably wondered at some point, how she stacks up. Here’s your chance to find out.

LEVEL 1: Beginner – For the uninitiated who has not practiced Kegel exercising before.

LEVEL 2: Amateur – For the relative newcomer with weaker pelvic musculature and little pelvic control.

LEVEL 3: Intermediate – For the moderately experienced with average pelvic strength and some control.

LEVEL 4: Advanced – For the experienced Kegel exerciser with strong pelvic muscles and good control.

LEVEL 6: Master – For the Kegel Master with excellent pelvic strength and maximum control.

A single workout takes about five minutes of your day, and once inserted, the device is practically silent, so even if you have a busy schedule, you can probably find time to get in your Kegel exercises during the day.

It runs on an AAA battery, so it’s not rechargeable like most other LELO toys. It says that you should get 200 exercise routines out of one battery, but if you use it as a pleasure vibrator as well, I’m sure that will factor in to battery longevity. Either way, batteries are cheap, so this little ‘con’ isn’t going to break the bank.

Sexual Pleasure?

The Luna Bead is more about women’s health than about instant pleasure. You’re probably not going to have an orgasm during the work-out itself (and if you did, you’d mess up your concentration anyway). The bead does feel good when you’re clenching, so there’s some incentive there and inevitably it works you up as it works you out – things do heat up – but not so much that you feel compelled to un-plug and chase after your orgasm before you’ve completed the workout.

Bonus: You do have the ability to hold down the ‘+’ button for three seconds after your workout to get a steady (strong!) vibration that is purely for pleasure, and arguably a fun ‘cool-down’ or reward after your efforts. This feature turns the Bead into a nice little clit vibrator as well.

My Impressions:

I’ve had the chance to use the Luna Smart Bead four times so far. I’ve found it extremely easy to use, and this is coming from a girl that almost never reads the instruction manual. I love the idea of a device that will challenge me to do Kegel exercises properly, because admittedly I tend to do them when I think of it, but I can be easily distracted.

I haven’t had children, nor do I suffer from incontinence so I’m really just doing this as a preventative, and admittedly for the sexual benefits at this point in my life. In other words, it’s a “want to,” rather than a “need to”. If I had actual health issues that would benefit from pelvic training, buying this device would be a no-brainer.

The bead is comfortable when worn (you can stand and walk around, provided you’re able to clench and squeeze when the vibrations start). I love that it’s easy to follow along and the device is intuitively assessing my pelvic floor strength – so much so that I get a grade at the end, with a goal of trying to top it in the weeks to come. The psychological reward makes the process fun. And no, I’m not at Master level just yet, but I’m determined to get that pink belt!

For those that know their reproductive status before going into a relationship, yeah, I'd think it's something you want to mention somewhat early on (assuming it looks like it's heading into committed relationship territory) or if the person brings up children outright at any point during early dating.

Many people get married mostly for the purpose of procreation, starting a family and not always for notions of 'idealistic love' or 'soulmate' matches where love overrides everything else. Some people can be pragmatic, especially as they're getting on in age. If they're not overly baby-focused, it won't matter, but if they are... it's a bit of a bombshell to drop once you're already in deep.

I bought all three of these at for a very cheap price, in the same order. If you're interested in buying one of them yourself and you're struggling to find the correct page, just send me a PM and I'll provide you the proper link.

Resistance Bands. Price paid: $10

First, I bought these resistance bands to supplement my workouts with many different movements: they can be used either to warm-up, to stretch, or even to perform the main exercises of your workout. They come in a pack, in three different levels of resistance: yellow for light, red for moderate, blue for heavy. Each band is 6' long.

Oh, I have these as well - I love them! Therabands are invaluable - not just for warm-up, stretching, workout, pilates exercises, and strength training, but they're commonly used in physio as well, so if anyone is involved in any kind of body rehab, these are a 'must-have' for home use. They'd even work well for seniors working on light exercise or mobility training.

And yeah - this thread can be a catch-all for anything related to health, exercise, eco-trends, yoga, fitness fashion, workout gear, footwear etc. It all works. :)

I'm also obsessed with Lululemon's Vinyasa Scarf. I'm a bit of a scarf hoarder - these are my fave. You can wear them in a lot of ways and even turn them into a little shrug or vest. And they're soooo soft.

I was on an 18 hr flight once, when a sweet old lady in pastels, seated beside me, decided to kick it up and get completely hammered. When the flight attendant finally cut her off later that night, she grumbled about it for about an hour and then promptly vomited on herself. Twice. The flight attendant suggested that she go clean herself up, to which she said, no, she was just fine using napkins, no need to go to an actual bathroom. This forced the attendant to go to Plan B - namely handing her hot washcloths with tongs and providing a waste bag. I'm sure you can imagine the stank coming off this woman hours later. She didn't seem to mind though, because she tried to order herself a Vodka breakfast (denied).

The attendant apologized to us profusely and said he would move us (or her) if possible but the flight was completely full. So... yeah, it was a matter of endurance. I sprayed perfume in the sleeve of my sweater and continued to inhale into it when I needed a smell-break.

If it's a matter of BO (and I've dealt with that too on flights), you can ask to change seats, however if it's a packed flight, you might be SOL. Breathe through your mouth and count down those minutes.

That does look very fun indeed...

It's a good one! I think most people have the basics, so it's nice to see something a little different. The bending/twisting portion is very sturdy and well-made, so it looks like it'll hold up to a lot of fun 'abuse'. ;)

Is it as big as it looks in the photo? If I had one of these I think I'd end up using it to change the TV channel or scratch my back. I'm lazy like that. :)

They should have called it the 'Double Whammy'. lol

Haha... well... it's big enough. It's 24 inches with about 17 inches in between the vibrating 'knobs'. The knobs aren't scary big - they're a nice size but without being intimidating. But yeah, you could get a nice vibrating back scratch with it or put on a dirty cheerleader outfit and twirl it like a baton. :)

Interesting stuff in this thread!

I'm living abroad right now, and I'm loving the Uniqlo HeatTech thermals (as shown below, but I prefer darker colours).

I like how uber thin it is, yet it's really effective in keeping me warm during training and matches outdoors. I can just slip a normal sports tee and leggings over and I'm good to go in the winter :) I guess this is less of an obsession and more of an adaptation; I'm used to playing in a tee and shorts back home where it's 31-32 degrees C. I'm not complaining though, since leggings flatter every girl's legs and bum.

I like those!

Reminds me of my fave thin-tees for workout, running, general living - the Lululemon Swiftlys - they're lightweight and sweat-wicking. I get so much use of them - perfect for layering in cooler weather and unlayering when things have warmed up.

Just adding my formal review to this post. I have to say - this is a pretty awesome toy, and great value for the money, in my opinion.

For a long time, I've been a fan of LELO Soraya and have always thought that a toy that combined anal/clit play would be fabulous. This toy let's you play like this, and bends and twists into whatever position works best for your individual body (or bodies). Everyone's anatomy is a little different, so being able to adjust this as you go is pretty awesome. And it's great for both solo and couples fun. :)

I’ve finally had an opportunity to play with a PicoBong™ TRANSFORMER™!

My first thoughts were – wow, this is bigger than I was expecting – in a good way. This is a solid toy and it feels well-made. There’s a nice weight to it. Bending and flexing it is very easy and it holds shape effortlessly. There’s no learning curve with this toy, so it’s very intuitive. It has three buttons: one to increase vibration strength, one to decrease, and an ‘M’ button to cycle through the ten different stimulation modes.

At this point I’m having to hold back my excitement over this toy because – ahem… it’s FABULOUS. In fact, it’s shooting right up into the upper echelons of my very favourite toys ever. The reason is simple – this ingenious device does soooo many things! What’s even better is that you can switch up what it’s doing in mid-play with barely a pause. There’s nothing worse than having to take an untimely break when things are getting hot and intense, in order to reach for another toy to do something else, or realizing that you wish you had a buttplug handy etc. The oval-shaped ends on the TRANSFORMER™ are really the perfect size, in my opinion. I am not a size-queen when it comes to toys and with strong vibrations like this one has, it definitely fills you up nicely.

If you’re playing solo, you can turn it into a “rabbit vibe” (amazing!) or if you’re into a bit of anal fun, try double-penetration, or switch things up and have the hot-spots be an anal-and-clit combo (double amazing!). There’s no rabbit vibe on the market that I’m aware of, that can offer this kind of diversity, so it really just depends on what you’re in the mood for. And if your mood changes mid-masturbation, this toy will accommodate your sexual whims.

If you’re playing with a partner, there are more combinations and positions to try. It works as a cock-ring and a prostate massager and you can even hook yourselves up in tandem. There’s enough flexibility, length and bend to the device that it should work for most couples in a variety of positions. I’m thinking that this would be a great double-ended dildo for girl/girl play. Two guys would have fun with it too. And if you happen to enjoy sex parties, Hedonism or alternative scenes, this can double as a necklace/choker or a double wrapped arm cuff that would be perfect to have on hand at exactly the right moment. Ok yes, I’m kind of joking. But not really. You’re only limited by your own imagination.

If you’re bored with the typical vibrators on the market today or looking to pick up something unique and multi-functional to add to your stash, I’d highly recommend the TRANSFORMER™. I really don’t think you can go wrong with this one!

Topic Is Jealousy Good or Bad for Relationships?
Posted 10 Dec 2014 04:35

I think jealousy is a natural reaction when someone intrudes on your perceived territory. If you show extreme jealousy then she finds you weak and unsure of yourself. If you show none, then she feels like you don't care.

Yup, this pretty much sums it up perfectly. A little is good, a lot is bad.

Topic Suggestions from the ladies please
Posted 30 Nov 2014 07:24

Here's the thing... some women like to talk (often) about how they need to work out, they're feeling fat etc - even though nobody can tell the difference and they still look great. Sometimes this is meant to elicit praise - ie. no, you look amazing, you're so skinny etc. You'll see women do this more with female friends, but sometimes with their guys as well. If we're talking the difference of literally a couple of pounds, actually confirming that you see this extra weight on her *may* backfire on you and she'll end up upset or paranoid about it going forward. Depending on how sensitive she is to her weight, that might result in lights-out sex, more emotional eating, being self-conscious, lowered self esteem, latent resentment etc.

So... it really depends on what type of girl she is. If she's very health conscious and usually works out a lot and likes to stay active, she'll probably react more like Buz's take on it. She'll see it as a matter-of-fact assessment and and get to solving the problem by stepping up her workouts, curbing calories etc. without feeling all doom and gloom about it.

If she's not someone who regularly works out or counts calories or who - in any way - is sensitive about her weight, or has been a yo-yo dieter in the past - I'd tread lightly. Maybe just say that she looks great to you but you've been meaning to get more active as well, so turn it into something you can do together. Or do one of those New Year's resolutions pacts. If you like her body with more curves, make sure she knows that and still feels sexy and wanted - but support her fitness goals in positive ways and help her take the pound off in a healthy way.

Has anyone tried using a battery operated cleansers? I'm think of buying one that has the dermabrasion brushes and massager pads, now that I'm 40 I want to step up my skin care routine

Funny you mention that - I was almost going to start a new thread just on those, because I was wondering if they're all that as well.

I haven't tried any of the them - the supposedly holy grail Clarisonic, or the Forreo line. I have used a manual face brush off/on at times, but I find that it 'over-exfoliates' my sensitive skin and then I end up with raw looking skin which eventually break-outs a bit. Or maybe I'm just being over-zealous with it.

For as many "omg, Clarisonic changed my life" testimonials, apparently there's a growing body of people turning up at their Dermatologists after using Clarisonic because it 'wrecked their skin' and caused thin, peely skin and acne flares etc. Now - maybe these people are using it too often or too intensively, but yeah... that's what's kept me on the fence about investing in one. I use good exfoliators and enzyme peels now and my skin is smooth and looks good - I'm afraid of possibly messing that up.

And then I wonder - does it really make that much of a difference if you already use a good cleanser and exfoliating products? They're a pricey investment.

I read on a skincare blog where a few people have said that they have Clarisonics but prefer this basic silicone cleansing pad thing on Sephora and no longer use their Clarisonics. I haven't picked one up yet, but I was surprised that it seems to get a lot of love.

I'm curious what others have to say on the topic as well!

Mid-season finale next week and I hear it's going to be fairly brutal. confused1

Article Link ]

Actor Norman Reedus told TV Guide that the events of The Walking Dead's midseason finale, airing on November 30th, were so emotional that he genuinely cried for an hour before he was able to shoot the episode's finale scenes.

Reedus describes the hour's final moments as so devastating that they unleashed an intense wave of feelings before the cameras rolled. "I sat on an apple box with my head between my legs and just balled for an hour," he says. "I really wanted not to tear up during — I wanted to be like I wasted every tear in my body before we started shooting — so I just sat there and cried and cried and cried."

That... that's not good. What could possibly be so awful for Daryl that Reedus himself was forced to sob himself out before shooting?
Obviously, not a lot of options come to mind, and they all revolve around a few specific characters dying.

Fingers crossed that nobody's crushes meet an untimely end. :(

Are any facial scrubs better than others. I like something really gritty or it doesn't feel like it does any good. I've always just bought whatever is the best price. My wife fusses at me about that. So is there any real difference?

Buz, I'm pretty sure they made this just for you! icon_biggrin

Bull Dog actually gets some good reviews in Men's Health and other men's blog-ezines. The scrub has the little gritty beads that you'll probably like.

As well - this Kyoku scrub gets rave reviews and is a best-seller.

I think the gritty scrubs are ok for guys because your skin is tougher than females. If you're sensitive though, I would go for the enzyme peel exfoliators (this is what I use). It less harsh and doesn't strip the skin. As well - once a week exfoliating masks are great for leaving skin baby soft. Not many guys are into masks though.

I watched the video - fun. I wanted to spank her though for not taking off her mascara before doing the eye treatment mask. lol. I'm not sure I'd splurge for the eye one just because it seems pricy for just the eye-pods. I am, however, seriously lemming the green Powermud one. I'm now dreaming of a Black Friday or Xmas special at Sephora to justify it.

I was waaaaay ahead of you on the demos. There's a really good one where a chick has all 5 of their masks, and she demos them all. It's great for GlamGlow evangelizing...seriously, they should hire her!

Anyhoo, to make a long story short, you owe me $69. Here's why:

That's the set from Sephora, but it was out of stock, so I actually bought it from I just thought the Sephora picture was better.

Dude! I totally wanted that kit as well - but yeah - out of stock on Sephora and in my local Sephora store too (they sold the last one the day before I went in... arghh!). I was going to wait to hunt it down but I wanted to use my Sephora discount on the masks, and I figured I'd want full-size anyway, so I bought them separately. That is a great kit though! You'll like the full-size Thirstymud - it has a hint of coconut scent to it - feels vaguely tropical, which is why I love it. Super hydrating too. I had some dryness on my chin and it totally zapped it.

The Youthmud has some bits of leaves in it (tea leaves, I think) so be forewarned - you will look kinda scary when you put it on. :p

And what about storage? Do you just leave it in plain sight? Or do you break it down and bring it back out every time you're ready to use it? And if so, how long does that take? Overall it just seems like more trouble than it's worth.

This is why every home needs a "Sex Room" with a lock on the door. You can leave out the sybian, the sex swing, the dildo collection, whips and ropes, porn collection, video camera, sex dolls etc.

And no, I don't have one (yet). :(

The Sybian sounds like fun, but there's no way I'd spend that kind of cash on a sex toy.

Re the device to work with a Hitachi - is this similar to what you're talking about?

It looks like fun, but I think it's just a cushion/seat that you stick the Magic Wand into in order to get a ride type feeling... except it's still all clit-stimulation instead of penetration, so it doesn't seem like it would be all that similar. I'm guessing you can probably even make something like this at home if you're handy?

You made this post just for me, didn't you? I know you did!

You know how I am about this sort of thing. I'm a DIY gal at heart, but I have/had my share of pre-made masks and such.

I've heard of GlamGlow, but don't know anyone personally who uses it, and it takes a lot of convincing before I try anything new for my face. Typically I try to trick friends into using them first, but lately I've been their go-to for skin care, so now they wait for me to make the first move. angry7

I had a deluxe sample of the YouthMud and Thirstymud from Sephora that I tried and was like - omg... this is fantastic! Then I started looking into all their masks. The Supermud is the one that gets the majority of the attention because it pulls the gunk from your pores and you can see it as it dries (google images - you'll be like ewww but wowww). So... I ended up making the GlamGlow investment and I really love all three of them. I have a sample of their most recent mask, but haven't tried it yet. I would recommend going to Sephora and getting samples first for sure - easiest way to know if you'll like it because they're pricey.

Their masks have won a ton of awards (listed below), which is what put me over the edge in wanting to test out all the hype. They totally delivered.

Has anyone tried the GlamGlow masks? They're freaking amazing! At the very least, everyone needs a little Supermud in their life. And Thirstymud is like a skin-holiday in a jar.

I also love the Pumpkin Enzyme Exfoliator mask by Peter Thomas Roth.

I'm always on the lookout for something skincare life-changing.

Any recommendations or favourites as far as masks go?

I know technically there are DIY recipes, but I'm always nervous about reactions or breakouts from those - especially when it comes to straight food items like yogurts, honey, unrefined oils or fruits etc.

Topic Boyish vs Manly
Posted 20 Nov 2014 08:13

I can go either way, but I'll admit I've always veered more toward the slightly boyish faces (Hemsworth, Beckham, DiCaprio, Pitt, Tom Brady, Ryan Reynolds, and all the hotties you listed in your post). Nothing overtly feminine though.

Age might play a bit of a factor with those pics as well. Guys tend to look more 'manly' as they mature, but I'm still drawn to boyish (or standard 'pretty boy') features on a man's face.
