Re the perfume sets, I got the Marc Jacobs Daisy because mine is just about to run out. I also got one of those Philosophy layering sets because I wanna try out the whole layering thing...if it doesn't work out, I'll probably just give it away. And I got one of the sampler sets. I like those because I can give away the ones I don't like to multiple people without feeling like I wasted my money...and if I like the samplers enough, I inevitably buy the full size.

There are two more that I put in my shopping cart, but I didn't get them. One was like 5 or 6 Estee Lauder perfumes, and they were almost full-size. I might just get them, as they're still just $35 right now. The other was a Coach mini set...Poppy, I think. Honestly, I got overwhelmed by the fragrance choices. I might shop for those separately some time soon, there are still a few bargains up.

I agree - I love fragrance samplers or minis. I find that it's nearly impossible to properly smell and appreciate a scent in a store like Sephora. There's too many competing smells in the air and overpowering Flowerbomb. I'm like you - nearly all the perfumes I've bought originated as a sample or mini bottle that I try and start to love. Buying a big perfume bottle is a commitment - I have to really feel like it's 'me'.

Aww, I got that one as a stocking stuffer for a friend (yes, we do stockings). Those sort of palettes are great for that kind of thing. The packaging was so badass that I was tempted to get it for myself, but I have all 3 of the Naked palettes, so I have no excuse for splurging on neutral eye shadows for myself, even if they are practically giving them away. crybaby

A friend of mine is quitting acrylic nails (Blech!) cold turkey so I got her one of those Butter London nail kits as kind of a starter.

I think the only thing I got for myself was mascara and some nail polish sets (Those prices were insane!), and a couple of fragrances, so I mostly dipped into my Christmas budget, and not my self-splurge budget.

And on a totally unrelated note, I bought a pair of $144.99 boots for $27.49. They were on sale for 40% off, and I had a 50% off coupon. Indulging without hurting my wallet is the best retail therapy there is.

I wonder if they're gonna do anything for Black Friday. evil5

The sale on those boots are killer! Wow!

What fragrances did you pick up? I got the one I've been obsessing over forever - the Maison Martin Margiela 'Replica' Beach Walk. I have my eye on FunFair for another time. I also got a Fresh perfume (Brown Sugar) and that set of Nest minis. And I got a couple of rollerballs as xmas gifts.

The BL set is a good one for your friend if she's going off acrylics. BL will have a solid sale for Black Friday - they always do. They are actually dirt cheap if you order direct from the BL site - they always have promos and stuff going on. Usually their polishes go down to $7.50 each and they have lots of cool sets.

Sephora will have a Black Friday sale but it'll probably be nuts in-store and online, I assume the website will be crashing all day. Last year they had a bunch of pretty nice $10 grabs.

Re Sephora's VIB sale, I'm actually quite proud of myself. I didn't go too crazy, and a good chunk of what I bought was gifts for others. angel7

I checked a bunch of gifts off my xmas list too.

As far as make-up goes, I grabbed the Urban Decay Pulp Fiction palette - the sale price it's already at + discount, it was practically free anyway. drunken

I did indulge in some skin care stuff (face oils) and fragrances though. It's been a while.

Topic Why do other girls don't know that they reached orgasm?
Posted 10 Nov 2014 05:47

My theory is - if you don't know whether you had an orgasm, you didn't have one.

If a girl is experimenting and sort of going through the build-up and getting those waves of highly pleasurable feelings and wondering if 'that's an orgasm', I can see how she might be questioning it - just because she has nothing to compare it to.

It's a pretty distinct toe-curling internal 'mini-explosion' though - you definitely know when you've had one.

Re the dupe brushes... I hate when that happens. And it happens a lot more than people think.

Even with make-up, many companies buy from the same mica/pigment companies (such as where you can buy some of the exact same make-up without the fancy compacts and branding), and just 'press' them into branded packaging and sell them with massive mark-ups.

The idea of just slapping your brand on something you had no hand in designing/creating just feels wrong, somehow. Yet, I suppose this is standard in many industries.

That's a good catch, Dani! Those are deep savings on that brush set, in comparison to the pricier brands!

I'll have to put them on my extended 'wish-list' for now. I spent my make-up/skincare allotment splurge-funds on the big VIB sale at Sephora this past weekend. Embarassed

Did anyone like the Beth storyline thing last week? I thought it was a bit slow - maybe because everything else has been so fast-paced and intense lately.

I think as far as villains go, after the Governor, Joe's gang and Terminus, these hospital nutters feel kind of weak.

The green lollipop scene was sufficiently disturbing, however.

So this isn't about makeup, per se, but about something equally important...brushes!

Makeup brushes are essential because your makeup is only as good as how/what you use to apply it. A simple blending brush can make all the difference. Good makeup brushes are also dense, which means you use less product to achieve your desired effect.

There are tons of brands to choose from (which ultimately end up making duplicates of each others products just in different colors/styles) as well as different qualities (as well as prices).

One thing about makeup brushes is that you get what you pay for. If you find one of those bargain/wholesale sets on places like Ebay and Amazon, even with proper maintenance, they don't last as long as the more expensive brands.

Personally, I've always just shelled out the extra bucks for quality makeup brushes because if you factor in replacing brushes, going the cheaper route costs you more in the long run.

As far as quality goes, nothing comes close to the Sigma and MAC brand brushes. Any professional makeup artist will tell you the same. Even if they're all about bargains, they'll tell you that nothing compares to Sigma and MAC brushes. They really took their time crafting these...and with proper care, they last for years. As I said before, with makeup brushes, you always get what you pay for. So a single MAC or a Sigma brush can run you anywhere from $14-$50 or more. I was just looking to replace a few of my Sigma brushes, and a set of 5 basic face brushes was $87, which was really no shock to me.

I have a close friend who's a makeup artist. Makeup artists have to replace their brushes way more often than us little people do...well at least they should. And shelling out at least $200 to replace a couple of handfuls of brushes can grow quite tiresome. Needless to say, she's always on the hunt for quality brushes that are budget-friendly. She's tried so many brushes and brands, from department store to drugstore to wholesale. She's satisified with them short term, but ultimately she just goes back to MAC or Sigma.

Recently, she's really been raving about a brand called Ovonni. They have a 29 pcs brush selling on Ebay and Amazon anywhere from $45-$49. This may still seem like a steep price, but remember...spending more on quality saves you money in the long run. Good brushes means using fewer product to achieve great looks, so you don't have to buy as much makeup, and they also last much longer so you're not replacing them as often.

Now, back to Ovonni. First of all, I'm quite stubborn about brands. When I find one I like, I stick to it and seldom deviate. So my makeup artist friend was raving about this set of brushes...something she's never done before. She said they were exactly like Sigma brushes, down to the materials, color, quality, density...everything. It's a 100% dupe. The only difference is, 5 Sigma brushes costs you $87, where a set of 29 Ovonni brushes costs you $45-$49, so you do the math.

I ordered a set myself, and I have to say everything she said was absolutely correct. I'm surprised that something like this exists at this price range. And when more people catch on, I'm not sure how long they'll stay in this price range. Or maybe they were created for the sole purpose of providing top quality for such an excellent price.

I rarely rave about products like this, but I really had to share. This is by far the best bargain I've ever found in my entire existence of bargain-hunting! I'm seriously contemplating buying another set for when I have to replace mine in a couple of years or so.

I'll post images and links later. But typing 'Ovonni 29 pcs brush set' into either Amazon or Ebay's search boxes will bring you to the brush sets. Ignore the colorful fluffy looking stuff and go for the black ones that come in a nice big zip-up case with different compartments on it...and a heart on the zipper.

This is a great post. I tend to mix and match a bit with brushes - mostly MAC and Bobbi Brown.

I have to say, I tried E.L.F's Kabuki brush a while ago, and I'm really impressed by the quality for the price. It's ridiculously cheap - ($9) but performs so well - no shedding, soft, applies powder and blends blush beautifully. I was really surprised - it was on par (performance-wise) with my more expensive BB Kabuki. I tend to use just a bit of Benefit's 'Flawless' powder in place of any kind of foundation for daytime and the Kabuki brush is my go-to and pretty much the only brush I couldn't live without.

I'll have to check out Ovonni next.

Topic In front of you walking by, the perfect male beach body, what is it, and how do you show interest?
Posted 04 Nov 2014 10:46

I like the classic swimmer's build... lean muscle, fit - not too beefy or bulky. And definitely not in speedos.

If I'm with a BF or it appears he's walking with a GF, obviously I'm just going to do a discreet little check-out, and then it's pretty much forgotten.

If I'm single and he's alone or with his buddies, a smile goes a long way. You really don't have to do much else. If the beach is busy, a little strategic stroll down to the water or lingering in the surf during a swim is what I do to ensure he gets a chance to check me out. If there's a spark of interest, the water is an easy way to let natural conversation happen without anyone making an obvious approach.

Topic Lipstick - why??
Posted 04 Nov 2014 10:35

I use gloss or sheer lipstick (something like Dior Addict Lip Glow) if I know I'm going to be kissing or more. It's just less messy and non-staining when it melts off.

If I'm going out and wearing a strong lip, I tend to transition to a more sheer colour or gloss toward the end of the evening anyway. There's nothing worse than having a few drinks and then worrying about reapplying cleanly in a dark bathroom.

Funny, that was never covered at my elementary school. Some one needs to get their facts straight.

After today's school shooting (allegedly in part influenced by a teenage love relationship gone bad), I heard people lobbying about figures - in June of this year, the tally was 74 school shootings in the US in the past 18 months. 74. I had to google it because I was convinced it had to be wrong. It's not.

Man, those Terminus people are evil! That was just coldblooded. Sure, snatch him and eat him. But to keep him alive while they do it? That's a special kind of psychopath. Definitely a chilling ending to an otherwise slow episode.

I had a back and forth about this with someone today. Does anyone else think Bob was maybe bitten in the water at the Food Bank? And that's why he went outside late at night to cry? If that's true, that could very well 'spoil the meal' for the Terminus boys if you can also get infected that way.

Bigger? Hmmm.... You make it sound like it's worth purchasing.

Yep, bigger is better. :D

But yeah- when I first got it, I wasn't sure how I was going to be able to differentiate between the original and the new version because I had both in the midnight blue colour, but then I realized it was very obvious based on the size of the 'tongue tip'. You can see it in the comparison pics I posted.

It doesn't surpass the Soraya model (nothing really does), but this is the best clit vibe I've tried, just because it offers the most variation. And it's pretty. Embarassed

As others have said - I would stay away from hard straight objects that can't flex with the body. You can really damage yourself that way.

And definitely use lots of lube.

Those last five minutes totally freaked me out.

The episode tonight was a little more slow moving, so I was kind of lulled into a calm, and then wham... Gareth is back! Eeek!

Who thinks Bob is done vs being kept around as a one-legged character like Hershel?

Is Father Gabriel a bad guy? He seems pretty benign. I'm guessing he's done some regrettable things in the past (maybe denying entry of survivors to the church?), but he doesn't strike me as very threatening at the moment.

Just a few weeks ago I invested about $120 for a LELO Mona 2 luxury 'G' spot vibe which is heaven! The Ora sounds intriguing but I don't really need it, hubby has a great tongue; and if he's not around, my licked fingertips are good enough.

Toys are really pricey these days. And definitely nothing beats a real tongue! :)

Unless they've managed to figure out the whole Click & Charge thing, as both Fun Factory and Minna have been able to do, no amount of fawning praise will ever convince me to purchase a LELO toy again. My encounters with the customer "service" at LELO resulted only in frustration and wasted time; my encounter with the excellent customer service at Minna USA resulted in a brand new Minna Ola being shipped to my door within 72 hours of first contacting that company. So, super glad that you're happy with your free Ora 2, but nope, not buying another LELO toy until they figure out how to a) make a truly "waterproof" toy and b) treat their customers with respect, instead of presuming that every customer is out to scam them.

I haven't had a LELO break down before, so I have never dealt with their CS. I know a friend who had an issue once and she said the process of getting a new one was pretty seamless, but sounds like you had a bad experience and are generally turned off.

You should post some reviews on the toys you like sometime if you're able to.

While reading though, I kept wondering if it would also work for rimming. Embarassed

You can use it for rimming, but the design isn't ideal. I do think body type will factor in a bit - you will need to be able to spread ass cheeks apart, so it's best if you're playing as a couple. You can use it solo as well, but you have to be flexible enough to be able to get into a position that's comfortable and that will allow for full contact. Really, a well-lubed vibrator tip moving in circles would work just as well (in lieu of a tongue) and that way, you wouldn't have to worry about the depth of the ass cleft if you're spread wide enough.

My only doubt was how quickly it all went down. I was kind of hoping they'd spend a bit more time at Terminus. With all the build up and foreshadowing last season, I felt it might have been a little anticlimactic. What do others think?

I thought they would spend more time there as well... like at least 3-4 episodes, telling more of the backstory of Terminus, involving some of the newer characters (ie. Gareth) a lot more. I have to think they might end up going back there - either for supplies or to kill everyone, as Rick wanted to do. Or maybe they'll meet up with Gareth in some other episode as he flees the compound - he's a character I'd like to hear more from. But yeah - it all went down fast. If they keep up that kind of pace it's going to be wayyy intense going forward!

ORA 2: The World's Most Sophisticated Oral Sex Simulator Just Got Better

A review and comparison of LELO's award-winning bestseller!

Last year LELO launched the ORA - a ground-breaking little pleasure massager that performed in a way that endless vibrators before it simply could not. The big revelation behind its inception should seem obvious: Women like oral sex!

Most traditional vibrators are either focused on penetration or are reliant upon steady vibrations and pulses directly on the clit, that – let’s face it – feels nothing like a tongue. Not to mention that if you already own a couple of these kinds of vibrators, you’re probably left feeling like you’ve 'been there, done that.' After all, how many variations do you really need of a product that generally feels the same and does the same things?

ORA entered the market at the beginning of 2014 with her sleek midnight blue curves and swirling and rotating nub that can circle and flick against a clitoris like a tongue and vibrate at the same time. It quickly went on to become a bestseller and became the first ever sex toy to win a Cannes Lions Award.

Last week, LELO launched the ORA 2 – the new and improved second-generation model. If you were hesitant about buying the original, haven’t gotten around to it yet, or if this is all new to you, the ORA 2 might make a great new addition to your toy box.

There are several notable and very noticeable improvements.

The Look:

The ORA 2 retains the size, shape, weight and luxe feel of its predecessor. It's from LELO's insignia line, which means it has the signature metallic inlay detailing and the attention to aesthetics as well as performance. This is the kind of sex toy you wouldn't mind leaving in plain view on your nightstand or pulling out to use with a new partner. It looks good!

There is one very noticeable difference between the original ORA and the ORA 2, and the old saying, "size makes a difference," applies here. The most important feature on the ORA is the little nub that moves and swirls under its silicone skin sphere, like the tip of a tongue. And let's just say, it got bigger - way bigger!

Why is this important? It means more pressure on your clit, stronger swirls and who wouldn’t prefer a longer tongue-tip to a shorter one if you had the choice? This is by the far the best improvement to the original model – especially for women with a petite clit, like me.

The new ORA 2 employs the ‘Sensetouch™ Technology’ that LELO features on many of its other toys. Vibrations activate on contact with skin. Because of this, it does feel like it packs more power than the original model. If you put both versions on at full tilt, the ORA 2 provides more pressure, more vibration and generally a more intense experience on both the clit and labia.

There are ten stimulation modes and you can vary the intensity for each mode by using the '+' and '–' buttons. These patterns offer both vibration plus swirling (including full and half-swirls), and also just swirling and flicking on its own without the vibration effect that one certainly wouldn’t get with a real oral sex experience. Personally, I’m a fantasy-girl and tend to enjoy both sensations at full blast, but it’s nice to have the variety that the different stimulation modes offer. There are some good ones, especially if you appreciate a good tease. I had no trouble reaching orgasm with this model, in literally just a couple of minutes. If you’re used to just the sensations of a standard clit-massager and looking for something different, this is a welcomed change.

Noise Level:

I also noticed that the ORA 2 is significantly quieter than the original model. With the original ORA, you can hear the rotation. The new ORA hums at the same noise-level as LELO’s standard vibrators – you don’t hear the rotation at all. This is actually a huge improvement as far as I'm concerned, especially if you need to keep your play-time discreet or are using it with a partner.

It's Waterproof:

The original was waterproof and this one is as well. It’s a nice size to keep in the shower or on the side of your tub. Water or a bit of water-based lube is the perfect way to get that slippery tongue-tip feeling if you’re not already feeling juicy.

ps. You’ll get a small sample of lubricant in your ORA box, if you don’t already stock it in your bedside table.

This one comes with a USB-recharger instead of the standard wall chargers that I’ve been used to with LELO’s previous toys. Technically I’m not a fan of this, but it’s really up to personal choice. I prefer to charge directly from a wall socket, but the USB charger may offer more versatility, especially if you travel. ORA 2 is compatible with all of LELO’s chargers though, so if you already own other models, you can use those standard wall chargers without a problem.

Final Thoughts:

I know that second generation products can sometimes feel like it’s just another excuse to remarket and relaunch a product while only offering minor improvements, but this isn’t one of them. The bigger size of the ‘tongue tip’ nub, the significantly improved noise level and the added SenseTouch™ technology really do set this apart from the original.

I actually started wondering how large a toy like this could feasibly go with the tongue-tip nub before it would potentially become uncomfortable. Might an ORA 3 be on the horizon in years to come? Not to mention, I think a toy that combined the tongue-swirling ORA technology with the vibrating penetration length of the Soraya model would probably be an instant bestseller.

We’ll see what LELO comes up with in years to come. In the meantime, if you skipped buying the original ORA, you’ll want to put its successor on your wish-list. It’s a solid winner.

You can buy this on the LELO website or one of their retailers. It's also on the LUSH Store as well, so you can add it to your 'wish list' on your profile just in time for the holidays! :)

That was SUCH a badass way to start the season tonight!

It almost felt like an entire season in a single episode. Edge of my seat. Carol was a total rockstar with that ambush.

But that trough scene... *shudders*... that was just unexpectedly terrifying, considering how macabre the show is in general.

I was also really happy to see that Morgan is going to be brought back on the show. Funny, I had re-watched a bit of the 'Clear' episode yesterday and was thinking, damn, this guy really is a fantastic actor and the character is intriguing - why is he only making a guest-appearance again? Cool to see that he's going to be brought back into the fray.

I once actually wore something similar out clubbing, except without the rhinestone bedazzler (it was a brass ring) and the sides came down with the top a little more, so it was a slightly more modest side cut-out. Of course, I also wore it with clear sunglasses and furry boots and everyone around me was fucked on ecstasy. So... it can work - depends on the club, I guess.
