I wonder if the hitler stache look could work for the vagina. Could be a new trend.

I'm waiting for the handlebar mustache landing strip to become trendy and then I'm all over it.

I'm not quite sure what you have in mind when you mention that 'something could go wrong' however; I think I'd better not ask, haha.

Mostly that I'm going to end up taking off layers of skin because I fucked up the temperature of the wax or my technique isn't right or that I'm going to have to go over the same spot multiple times because of some mistake, thereby prolonging the pain. Or maybe I'll end up with some ingrown hair disaster that will make me look like I have herpes for the next two weeks.

The girl that waxes me does a Brazilian so fast that it's quite bearable. The worst is that little front patch above the clit - which is probably why so many opt for a landing strip or some little pube-shape. I still prefer to go bare though and really, it's only one 'rip' and you're done. If I was doing it myself... ugh, I'd hate to have to do repeats if I didn't get a clean rip the first time.

Note: I've waxed my pubis around 6-7 times yet and I'm still on my first can of Hard Wax. And if you notice on the picture above, my can of Hard Wax is still half full. Considering that a can of Hard Wax only costs $10-15, that's an initial investment of $40 and then only about $1 each time you wax your pubis. Truly a fantastic product!

You always manage to make everything so thrifty! Impressive.

I still can't bring myself to do the pube self-waxing - too paranoid that something will go wrong. I get the brazilians done professionally. I wax my own legs/underarms though with wax-strips. That's pretty painless and easy.

Dani - I have used an epilator and it was fucking painful. I don't really recommend it. It's just too slow compared to waxing and you don't have the same ability to keep the skin taut and brace yourself before it rips.

I also don't really recommend the No-No. I tried it briefly but it was actually pretty difficult to get it at the right angle to make it work and then when it does, it has this weird 'snapping-electrical' sound that makes you feel like you're electrocuting yourself and then you get that burnt hair smell.

I'm going to start laser in the fall - either professionally OR... I wouldn't mind trying the Tria system first. I've heard good reviews on that. It's pricey though, so I'm waiting for a sale.

Topic The "new" female "Viagra" would you try it, use it?
Posted 08 Jun 2015 15:12

I've heard that it's basically an anti-depressant, so - very different than the male version of viagra, which creates an obvious physical reaction.

I'm a bit torn on the idea of female viagra if it's mostly a mood booster. Like I can understand a woman taking a pill or suppository because she's dry or menopausal and things are changing in the vag and this leads her to not want to have sex as often anymore, because it's not as pleasurable.

I wonder if - while acting as anti-depressant, this female viagra might be more about a placebo effect, or function as a way to open up dialogue between partners and force them to actually talk about their sex lives - what's lacking, what needs to change etc.

I think women who get older often get turned off to sex for reasons that aren't functional/physical... it could be that she doesn't feel sexy anymore, she went into hardcore 'mommy/child-rearing' mode, her body has changed and she's lost confidence, her man isn't valuing her or 'seducing' her anymore etc. A pill wouldn't solve any of this. Better communication might, however, and maybe the discussion about getting a prescription for the pill or taking it and expecting to feel more 'sexual' and turned on might work wonders with improving a woman's sex life if she's lost a bit of the thrill for it over the years.

As with all drugs, some people will find them to be very effective (for whatever the reason), and if it improves someone's sex life, I'm all for it. Would I personally try it if I found my libido chronically slipping and was older - not sure - I'd have to do more research. It would definitely be a last-resort sort of thing for me though.

Has anyone tried the Glamglow Cleansers?

I broke down after trying a sample of Thirstycleanse and bought the bottle and omg - it's true love. My favourite cleanser ever. It has this really nice subtle coconut water scent (same as the mask) and it cleans so well but still hydrates and somehow soothes skin at the same time.

I ordered Youthcleanse over the weekend to try because it's my favourite Glamglow mask. It's supposed to be exfoliating as well - so I don't think I'll be using it every day. I'd love to try the other two, but I've heard their corresponding cleanser to the white-jar mask (Supercleanse) is pretty intense and can be a little drying.

I love this youtube video - purely because the girl's voice is so bubblegum and fun. Of course, now I'll have to wait for SereneProdigy to read this and shatter my high by telling me that he was able to concoct the exact same cleanser from raw materials and organic compounds he bought wholesale for just pennies a pump and I totally just wasted $40. crybaby

I just saw the new photo of Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner). I think she looks fantastic!

Transitioning to a woman at that stage in life and being constantly in the media eye can't have been easy and I'm a big fan of the way this was handled.

While I have heard some criticism from the Transgender community about whether Bruce Jenner could be considered a 'role model', I've always thought this would be very positive in bringing more awareness to the struggles of Transgenders, especially those on the cusp of a transition.

Beautiful photos!

Topic Waist training
Posted 19 May 2015 07:05

I've heard about this. It can range from giving more subtle waist-definition all the way up to serious fetish level (which is scary).

I don't mind the (moderate) corset look on occasion, but I'm not a major fan of the style. And certainly wearing something like this 24/7 with slow tightening over time definitely doesn't appeal. In a way, I feel like this is kind of cheating exercise and fitness by creating an illusion and slowly forcing your ribcage into submission.

Even at a lower basic level with proper corset tightening (not just wearing it for fashion), there has to be an element of fetish involved because of the pain and breathing impairment and I guess it may serve as a 'diet aid' because I imagine it would require proper portion control as well.

I just think it does way more damage with long-term use than is worth it - organs shifting, ribs compressed etc.

If someone wants to wear it as a fashion statement or to try to create that short-term illusion (like a more extreme bodyshaper garment), then whatever works, right? Having said that, I'm definitely staying away from this trend - it's not for me.

Topic Obligatory Makeup Thread
Posted 08 May 2015 07:37

This is one of my favourite make-up purchases this spring.

The 'Dior Cheek and Lip Glow' - It looks really bright but it actually goes on super sheer and has this really nice moisturizing gel consistency. It's one of those 'colour reveal technologies' where it adjusts to the moisture in your skin. Those types of products can be hit or miss for me, but this one is just right - not like Tarte's cheek stain, which comes out like 'neon pink clown' on me.

I usually use the Benetint line in the summer but I find those harder to blend out without streaks or ending up with more colour than I wanted. This Dior one is perfect and pretty much goof-proof. Plus the bottle is so damn cute. :)

Topic Number of Sex Partners a Dealbreaker?
Posted 08 May 2015 06:57

I'm not a guy, but I have to give my two-cents here because I asked a vaguely similar question when I first came to Lush, and 98% of guys were like "oh yeah, nothing would bother me - I'm very sexually open". Keep in mind that the demographic on Lush is a bit skewed when it comes to sex-positive sexuality. There are fewer here that will wag their fingers at such things or start getting moral about it. That's not necessarily what you'd experience with a wider sampling of guys from different walks of life.

My advice would be to take cues from the guy you're with. Does he like to hear about your exes or crazy sexual experiences from your past? (not numbers, but specific experiences like a threesome or crazy vacation sex or something really dirty that you tried once or twice). If he likes hearing details like that, and sharing them himself, then he probably isn't going to have an issue with your past. If he doesn't like to talk about such things, I would be far more conservative as to how many details you give him. You don't want him to be one of those guys that considers it a dealbreaker OR a guy that will bring it up and use it against you when you get into fights later in the relationship or when you're going through a rough patch. Some things aren't worth the risk.

I know it's disappointing to not be able to share everything. I've been through two boyfriends like that myself that had no interest in hearing anything detailed related to sex before them. Some people are just like that (both guys and girls). Don't think of it as being deceptive, because you're not. That was your life before him, and certainly before you slowed things down over the past couple of years. Some things are ok to keep private. In this case, knowing your past may make him fear what would happen if you go off the medication at some point or if he's been cheated on and hurt in the past - this may be a trigger for him to make him feel insecure or mistrustful. It's hard to predict exactly how he'd react but you know him best - if you're feeling hesitations or seeing red flags, I would stay quiet. I've never thought actual numbers are 'must confess' material anyway.

Topic What comes first for you, "I love you" or sex?
Posted 04 May 2015 17:23

Sex - definitely.

I take the "L" word pretty seriously and don't really throw it around prematurely. It would take many months to really fall in love, and not just fall in lust or get giddy off the high of maybe having found a life-changing connection.

I think when you're connecting or in the stages of falling in love, you can't really hold back and that includes physical/sexual expression as well as the emotional. I prefer things to happen naturally - they're more authentic that way. At least then you know it means something when you say it and isn't something you're tricking yourself into believing just so you can finally get to the dirty.

Wow, guys, thank you so much... I know a couple of you that I talked to leading up to (and just after) I posted my story know that I almost didn't submit this one. Topic Should he get Life or Death?
Posted 27 Apr 2015 16:58

As Sprite said, solitary confinement is no joke. I read this essay a couple of years ago and it's still in my head. I thought I'd post the link here - it's quite an intense read.

http://solitarywatch.com/2013/03/11/voices-from-solitary-a-sentence-worse-than-death/

The following essay is by William Blake, who has been held in solitary confinement for nearly 26 years. Currently he is in administrative segregation at Elmira Correctional Facility, a maximum security facility located in south central New York State. In 1987, Blake, then 23 and in county court on a drug charge, murdered one deputy and wounded another in a failed escape attempt. He was sentenced to 77 years to life.

This powerful essay earned Blake an Honorable Mention in the Yale Law Journal’s Prison Law Writing Contest, chosen from more than 1,500 entries. He describes here in painstaking detail his excruciating experiences over the last quarter-century.

“I’ve read of the studies done regarding the effects of long-term isolation in solitary confinement on inmates, seen how researchers say it can ruin a man’s mind, and I’ve watched with my own eyes the slow descent of sane men into madness—sometimes not so slow,” Blake writes. “What I’ve never seen the experts write about, though, is what year after year of abject isolation can do to that immaterial part in our middle where hopes survive or die and the spirit resides.” That is what Blake himself seeks to convey in his essay. —Lisa Dawson

Topic Should he get Life or Death?

If he gets the death penalty, then (in his view) he dies as a Martyr... which is theoretically what he wanted anyway. I don't know if someone can just plead guilty and proactively accept the DP in this state, or whether it's mandatory to have a defense team try to save him. I'm guessing if they offered an instant 'death by firing squad' option, he'd probably take it.

What it really comes down to, however, is how he will live his years in prison. Being on death row is vastly different than getting LWOP in general population as far as isolation, hardship and privileges go. If you want to inflict max punishment, being on death row is the way to go - even if the sentence never gets carried out.

Personally, I think they should just abolish the death penalty and replace it with "Life Row" - which is natural life, but without the privileges of being in general population. A punishment like that is far worse than a needle in the arm. It would also save people from being possibly executed due to erroneous convictions by allowing more time for appeals etc and for groups like The Innocence Project to work without scary deadlines looming. Not to mention that actually getting the drugs for DP-executions is becoming more and more complicated.
