As mentioned earlier I hear excitement and respect from the transgender community about her public transition and the way she's using her celebrity platform to educate the public about transgender issues.

I agree with this. It seems like many people turned on her a bit last summer, feeling like she was doing the "Kardashian" thing of over-exposure and attention-seeking with her "I Am Cait" show and public appearances, and that it would have been better for her to just go quietly off into the sunset and enjoy life out of the spotlight.

I watched most of her reality series though and it was 95% focused on series Trans issues and her work in the LGBT community and really only 5% on superficial "Kardashian'esque" fluff like hair, makeup and drama. I actually learned a lot myself, and thought it was a really positive way to use her celebrity to raise awareness and understanding.

I don't subscribe to the channel it's shown on over here so it's blu-Ray or nothing :(

Ahhh, ok. It's on a free channel here and there are marathon re-runs all the time. I guess I'm lucky. On the plus side, no commercials for you! And really - the first season was so well done, it's well worth adding it to the Blu-ray library.

I totally bonded to the Andrea character in Season 1. I know a lot of people didn't like her as the series went on, but she's still one of my faves and probably TWD character I've most identified with throughout the series (flaws and all).

But I don't know what Enid's deal is. I thought she was supposed to be the Wolves inside man with all that "we" and "us" business with Carl as the attack kicked off a few weeks back. I was waiting for her to lure Glen into an ambush or something. Still, the angry teen thing got very old very quickly.

Yeah, I thought that too. Not totally convinced they won't drop that twist on us later though. She's so elusive and even if she'd been part of the Wolves for a while, she could have abandoned that group as easily as she abandoned Alexandria. Or maybe the teen angst is just throwing all of us off and she's just a nice kid that's been through a lot and prefers flying solo in a world of instability. And Carl likes her, so she might be destined for a real teen-love storyline with him next season, assuming he doesn't get shot by that other angry kid. Damn.. all this, and Glenn and Maggie still wanted to procreate. confused1

Now you just need a spritz of the infamous 'Secretions Magnifiques' by perfume house Etat Libre D'Orange to complete the effect.

With its (intentional) fragrance notes of blood, sweat, semen and milk, it's quite literally an olfactory horror show and pretty much could be The Walking Dead captured in a perfume bottle.

I'm so happy that Glenn is still alive. I would have been so bummed out.

However, and I have vented this to a few people already and I'm going to here. I'm so over Eugene. He is an utter useless character that is kept around for no reason. He brings nothing to the show and is only a human filler at this point. He won't man up! I really thought he was going to once he saved Tara in the last season, but nope, he is still a useless slug. I'll do a happy dance if he goes.

Anyone else agree or feel otherwise?

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Eugene. He's kind of dead weight to the other characters around him as well as the viewers. They haven't really done much with his story arc and I tend to forget he's even there at this point. Eugene and Rosita both seem expendable.

I'm guessing a lot of miscellaneous characters will get killed off during the mid-season finale (ie. the Alexandrians who haven't had much talking time) and maybe one or two semi-regulars. If Eugene gets chomped, I definitely won't miss him. :p

I feel compassion for him, as I do for all people who have contracted HIV - no matter how it occurred. The new antivirals available should keep him manageably healthy. I actually would have thought that someone living his kind of high-risk lifestyle would have been tested regularly and not end up with a diagnosis out of nowhere after a bout of bad migraines. Hopefully it's a wake up call for others to stay on top of their own sexual health. Sadly, it can happen to anyone - there are high risk situations and low risk situations - but really, all it takes is one bad decision. Very sad, and hopefully he uses this as an opportunity to turn his life around.

Topic What About Lebanon?
Posted 17 Nov 2015 05:49

2015 has been a devastating year, and it's not even over yet. These were the bloodiest attacks linked to IS, with the recent downing of the Russian plane amassing the greatest number of casualties in a single attack (which included 25 children).

These have all been a focus in the news (at least the news I watch/listen to/read), including the attacks in Lebanon the day before Paris. My heart hurts for all of them.

13 Nov - Paris, France: Gunmen and suicide bombers kill at least 129 people.

12 Nov - Beirut, Lebanon: Suicide bombers kill at least 43 people.

31 Oct - Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt: Plane crashes killing all 224 on board. Russia says a bomb caused the crash and an IS affiliate says it was responsible.

10 Oct - Ankara, Turkey: Suicide bombers kill 102 people at peace rally. Turkey blames IS, but no group claims the attack.

18 Jul - Khan Bani Saad, Iraq: Car bomb kills 120 people.

26 Jun - Sousse, Tunisia: Gunman kills 38 people, mostly British tourists.

26 Jun - Kuwait City, Kuwait: Suicide attack kills at least 27 people.

22 May - Qatif, Saudi Arabia: Two suicide bombs kill at least 21 people.

21 Mar - Sanaa, Yemen: Suicide bombings kill at least 137 people.

18 Mar - Tunis, Tunisia: Gunmen kill 19 people, mostly foreign tourists.

I loved the last episode with Morgan and Eastman - great storytelling - although I found myself overly stressing about the welfare of Tabitha the goat. Embarassed

Morgan's character has a lot of complexity. He's reminding me of Tyrese now with the moral compass of "we shouldn't kill", except Tyrese was a little more practical about it.

The idea that Morgan is hiding one of those Wolves at Alexandria and the guy is already bit and doomed anyway is ridiculous and puts everyone at risk. Morgan was a special case that worked, but in general the zombie apocalypse is no time to mess around with 'psychological rehabilitation' (see how that worked out for Lizzie, right?). Plus if the guy was bitten, who cares about pulling an Eastman and reforming his murderous ways. And.. just wait until Carol finds out! lol

I guess we find out what happened to Glenn this week. It looks like Maggie and Aaron will go looking for him. Ugh. Going to keep the kleenex box on hand, in case we end up seeing a tragic version of Walker Glenn. crybaby

Okay, put me out of my misery... which episode were the couple in? The bloke with the damaged leg and the girl, shown briefly in this episode? I know they didn't last long, but when were they in it?

Ohhhh, was that them? I thought they looked familiar. That was the episode where Rick and Carol left the prison to get supplies, during which Rick confronted her about killing Karen and David and basically told her she had to leave the group - gave her a car and supplies and sent her on her way. During the episode they came across the guy and girl handing out peaches or some kind of fruit, trying to ingratiate themselves to others. The girl died in that episode, but the guy survived (and had Rick's watch) and then later ended up at the pig trough at Terminus (shudders... that scene...).

You might want to check out the Aneros. I've heard a lot of good things about that one, it's been around for over ten years and it's won a few awards. It's also hands-free (you use your own muscle contractions), so it should be easier to use if reach is a problem.

I think it's strictly a solo play toy, but I could be wrong. It comes in different shapes and sizes and is available at a variety of retailers, amazon and even the Lush Store.

There's actually a good 'learning center' available on their website too, with interesting info and tips.

Btw... is anyone worried about Rick?

That last scene was awful for him and he looked so defeated. Also - it appears he got cut and walker blood is in his wounds. Apparently this means something in the comics but I haven't read them.

sad3 Glen can't be dead...I am in total denial, but did not look like he could possibly make it out of that. Damn Nicholas! He should have shot that bastard!! He got Noah killed anyway! angel7

Yeah, I read those 'maybe he's still alive' theories, but it would really go against the grain of the show to fuck with the audience like that with one of those pranked 'we fooled you' bits.

I mean - all things pointed to his demise:

- His last words to Rick were ominous and exactly echoed his first words to Rick on season one in the tank.
- Fingering Hershel's watch (that's when I knew something awful was going to happen - never - never reflect on loved ones or peek at cherished momentos when in a bad situation on this show).
- The way he fell probably meant that Nicholas gets eaten first, but the likelihood that Glenn didn't even get a scrape or bite on his extremities while being in the walker mosh pit, with that many on top of him is unrealistic, even for the show.
- When he fell, they played the tragic 'death scene' violins. Bad sign.
- Even if he scoots under the dumpster, he has nowhere else to go and that many walkers aren't going to be satisfied with Nicholas lasagna for long. Plus we know walkers look and reach under cars (eg. the Sophia runaway scene).

I think they had Nicholas fall on top of Glenn because this will allow Glenn to end up as a semi-recognizable walker, rather than an entrails skid mark. This will allow Maggie (and a few others) to go looking for him and then find him in a seriously traumatizing, major violin wailing finale scene - maybe to close off the season. Then they'll have Steven Yeun and Lauren Cohan on Talking Dead to wrap up the character storyline.

The only thing that really points to Glenn being alive is a pic of Steven Yeun on set standing next to a new character that hasn't shown up yet. This is - admittedly - a decent clue, but it could be a red herring. Or even from a scene where Maggie looks at the new group and imagines Glenn standing with them for a moment.

I really want him to be alive, but if it does go that way and he manages to escape without a scrape, I'm going to be kind of pissed at the show for doing one of those silly "is he, or isn't he" tricks.

Then again if it means Glenn could be alive, I'm willing to get over it. lol

Topic Hipster or High Waist jeans for a girl with nice bum ?
Posted 23 Oct 2015 10:58

I think it's very difficult to make high-waisted jeans look good, unless you're doing some kind of vintage'y pin-up high fashion look. As RavenStar said, it's so easy to veer into mom-jean zone.

I think if you have a great waist and/or are fit, go for the low-rise hipster style for sure.

All my jeans are low rise or mid rise. I do like my slim-fit or skinny jeans or even slim-fit boyfriend jeans on occasion, Japanese denim, usually dark, sometimes distressed/minimal shredding. My fave overall brand is Rag & Bone.

Another perfume line I love is Juliette Has a Gun.

In particular - Lady Vengeance (for night).

and Gentlewoman (which is good for anytime). This one reminds me a lot of Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino, which is one of my fave scents ever (but soooo expensive). Gentlewoman is another from my top three fave perfumes right now.
