Topic The F word at work. Is there a double standard?
Posted 20 Jun 2018 19:10

One day a group of us, including a female supervisor, were complaining about some required paperwork.

The supervisors agreed commenting several times, "yea, what the fuck is with that (the new paperwork?)?

For fear of creating a "hostile workplace" I would never use the F word at work.

Is there a double standard.

If it makes any difference, I work in a professional office.

Nah, I'm a philanthropist.

I could use some philanthropy.

(Just had to say it).

Seriously, I had $50,000 in student debt when I left graduate school. Fortunately I was able to work it off by working in public service.

If I hadn't been, and been born with two X chromosomes instead of an X and Y, I would worked my debt in other ways.

It seems to me that this parenting idea loops back - as an example - to the thoughtlessness of giving everyone participation trophies, encouraged by parents who don't want their kids to have hurt feelings. It's an example of limited vision by the parent for their child's long term emotional well-being.

While bad parenting is probably part of the issues, you can't always blame the parents. A casual acquaintance of mine was mother of a shooter. She was a very nice person. She and the father were divorced, but but all accounts it was friendly divorce. They got help for their son and he was diagnosed with Asperger's (similar to Autism, but he bright enough to be admitted to
a university. The local paper publish excerpts from his journal. He felt so rejected. This was not the normal rejection that most of us experience one time or another, but a sense of
complete isolation and frustration. He was treated like a nobody, mostly by women, but men too. Maybe his parents were not perfect, but they were better than most. (According to newpaper account, when the mom read a disturbing note on her son's FB account, she immediately called her ex and they both dropped what they during and hurried to their son -- all in vain. The police were also called.

After my knee injury last year I've had a number of women hold doors for me. The limp seems to still cue this after the brace and crutches were discarded. I'd like to reward them with dinner and great sex, but alas that aint happening.

Yes holding the door open for someone with a knee brace , or holding a package, or child, is a basic courtesy. The other day I was at the cleaners and held open the door for a young woman with a child in her arms. However, she clearly was reluctant to receive help. What is this world coming to?

Topic Have you ever left your sex toy out, and have it found by another person?

Yes, left my dildo on my bed in hotel. p

I read an article about by someone who used toc manage a hotel. By corporate policy, they had a "lost and found" mostly for jackets and the occasionally cell phone. However, vibrators/dildos were often left behind too. Many guests returned to get their jacket or phone . . . no one ever came back for a dildo.

Topic How much did your last five dates cost?
Posted 23 May 2018 17:25

What is a date? Haven't had one since I got married. HAHA. I agree with Black1 why does cost have to come in to it. As long as the couple are having a good time, it isn't the world's business how much or little they spent.

Cost is very important, if you have a car payment or rent to pay.

Adding up, movie, the price of dinner, drinks, concert tickets, parking, gas etc. How much would you guess was spent on your last five dates?

Also, how much of total did the guy pay?

Just to be clear, I'm asking about real dates not "date nights" for committed couples.

Also, I mean the last five dates, whether that was with five different people, three different people or just one.

That I have done the cost of going to college is so high even some scholarships can't cover the cost and working at a fast food place or working in a store doesn't even come close to paying the tuition unless you want to work your ass off all the time and that still won't cover the cost. So yes I did rent myself out while I was in college. The next question yes I would do it all over again if I had too. People can call it what they want to but it paid my way though college so I had time for studies instead of working all the time a worry about the cost. Next question is am I a shame of what I did no I'm not.

I know this is "the ask the gals" but I wanted to comment on this. When I was in grad school, I was flat broke. When I finished I literally had $16 to my name.

At one point, I went to the blood bank and for an hour of my time and a pint of blood I got $10.

I thought, if I was a woman, I would have been mighty tempted to make more than $10 for an hour of my time (and not have to be pricked with a needle)!.

I was going through an airport the other day. A middle aged man was several steps ahead of me. Ahead of him was a 20 something. As we got to the escalator for baggage claim, the young
woman stepped aside and let the middle aged man go ahead. I thought she was lost, but in a selfish hurry I went onto the escalator and she followed behind.

A few weeks later, I'm at the post office. Again, a middle aged man is several step behind a younger woman. She not only holds the door open for him (he is in fifties, not his eighties!) but holds
the door open for me as well, even though I am clearly "last" . I have to mail a certified letter, it takes a while as I haven't done so in several years. I feel guilty going ahead of the young woman.

What is going on?

Topic First time no panties
Posted 07 Feb 2018 20:13

I was an 18 yo freshman in college. Too young to drink legally and not really used to alcohol. It may not of been the first time but it was before I was comfortable doing it. I went to a bar with 3 of my friends and played pool. We decided to have a tournament and the loser of each game had to drink a shot. When I lost the first game I had to drink a shot of whiskey. I had already had a beer. While I waited for my next game, I had another beer. When it was my turn for another game I told them I couldn't drink any more. Some guy watching us suggested the loser had to lose their panties. It sounded like a great idea. My skirt was already too short to be leaning over a pool table and wearing a thong. I was flashing my ass anyway. After I lost, I didn't want to take them off. 2 of my friends held up my arms and the third lifted my skirt. Then they picked a guy and let him pull them down. I had to play the next game totally exposed to everyone. I left the bar that night without my panties.

That is so hot! My college days was filled with term papers and nothing so exciting.

silly on a "mature" woman.

Topic Putting Black Men in the Narrative.
Posted 12 Dec 2017 14:50

My daughter is a DVM, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Her class at the UF School of Veterinary Medicine consisted of 98 women and two men. The numbers over across campus at the Medical school weren't quite that imbalanced, but still more women than men. So your observations are right on the mark.

You must be very proud of her. . . Getting into Vet School is harder than medical school.

If one of my adult daughters got paid less than her male counterpart, it would all over social media. The company would face a public relations nightmare.

If someone tried harass my daughters, my youngest would use the karate she earned and both wouldn't, if serious, call the police.

No what I worry about is what kind of future son-in-law I will have. Or even I will I will have one. Where my oldest goes to college women outnumber men to one.

Yes, at CalTech and MIT, men out number women, but that is just two schools. . . There are dozens of vet schools . . . I bet the female to male ratio is unbalance in the other schools as well.

Topic Putting Black Men in the Narrative.
Posted 10 Dec 2017 18:23

There is a lot of fuss in the media about women being underrepresented in STEM (Sceince, Techology, Engineering, and Math) occupations. This is true.

However, boys, particularly African-American boys, are much less likely to graduate high school than girls. For every two girls who fail to graduate high school, three boys
fail (all races). Kids who fail school gravitate to criminal activity to survive. For each woman in prison, there are eleven men with African-American men disproportionately represented.

Also, what doesn't get media attention, is that girls (all races) are much more likely to be valedictorians, that more women become lawyers than men, become doctors than
men, and in much greater numbers graduate college (albeit not in STEM jobs) then men.

Literature is one small part. Consider the very successful Twilight books. The heroine is courted by two men. In Harry Potter Heromine is courted by Harry and Ron. Can you name any best selling book that male character is pursued by two women?

Boys, particularly African-American boys, need to be part of the narrative.. What they need most are fathers. If the father is in the home, the children, boys and girls, have a much better chance of graduating and leading a law-abiding lifestyle.

Topic Pence rule and sexual harassment

Even before all the allegations of sexual harassment by big names came out, Vice-President Pence had
a rule he would never meet alone, one on one with a woman. What do you think?
Do you meet alone with women in you work?

I didn't get much of a response when I posted this in "ask the gals". That was a surprise. I thought lots of women would comment.

What do you guys say?

Unfair rule (as men can meet one one one).

Topic Tone at work: Has it changed with recent allegations of sexual harassment.
Posted 19 Nov 2017 17:24

Well I have notice a change at my work. Women are "all business". No one shares even the most innocuous personal information.

Some months ago, even before these scandals broke, one female co-worker commented that I looked nice in my coat and tie.
(Only on rare occasions do I need to wear a coat and tie at work). She was the practically apoplectic apologizing for
the remark. There was nothing suggestive. She is know as a very Christian person, I appreciated the comment for what it was and nothing more.

Just a few days ago, my female boss wore a nice scarf. It was just for show, . . it was particularly cold. Did I say anything?
No. Just too scared it could be misinterpreted.

Since the recent revelations of sexual harassment have been made, has there been a change
in the tone in your workplace?

I'm talking about everyday tone, banter, chit-chat, not sexual harassment.

I'm asking the same question in the ask the gals forum.

My personal experience is that, with rare exception, women are now "all business".

They don't ask how my kids are doing in college or will I see family for Thanksgiving or any other of the mundane,
innocuous questions people ask of co-workers.

Topic Women and doors
Posted 06 Nov 2017 17:45

Guys have you had this happen to you? A young woman gets to the door first but she holds it open for you. I'm old-fashioned and was raised to open the door for a woman. OK if she is there first she should go in first, but several times and I mean several times, I've had a woman hold the door open for me, even though I was 10 even 15 behind her. I don't like being treated like an old man. I am still capable of opening a door myself.
