Topic The Not So Secret Diary Of A Manic Depressive
Posted 26 May 2015 19:22

Steph, I wish to thank you for sharing this with us. I had a student who they claimed was bipolar... and by my best guess... she was medicated. I only say this (and please... don't think I'm being a bitch here) because she was by far my most mellow student of that particular class. For the first month she was my student, she barely spoke (we call it selective mute). Over time, she began speaking to me. I never pushed... I let her do things on her timeline. However, she had the mother from hell who micromanaged me every step of the way. angry7

One day... without warning or explanation... the girl was transferred out of my class and into a class of a known, substandard teacher (& no... I'm not being catty damn it!... the bitch was fired before the school year ended.) It was over a month before the girl spoke to me again... even though I had nothing to do with her transfer.

I often wonder what she might have been like before... how they diagnosed her (and I guess I should clarify... this was a 4th grader... about 9-10 years old.)

You're sharing your... experience in your own Stephen way... give me some light on what to expect should I ever get another student like my girl who might not be diagnosed or properly medicated (if at all.) These days... parents either over medicate or under-medicate their children.

Thank you Steph... your courage is amazing. Hugs

"I'm not hungry, stop feeding me baloney."
"I'm not a mushroom, so stop shoveling the manure."

In case you didn't already guess or know... I teach middle school English. Since I can't swear, I find creative ways to say what I need to say. Trust me... my students know what I really want to say.

We're a WHOLE SOLID STATE COUNTRY, AXIE... Who USED to be under the thumb of those baby HURTERS that CALLED themselves our CHURCH...

This is the start of us FUCKING that VATICAN ATTITUDE!

The NEW IRELAND starts here.

(Welcome Everyone...)

xx SF

EIRE SAOR ANOCHT! (Ireland is FREE tonight!!!)

And GRAB your pink hats and black dresses GIRLS 'cos we've had ENOUGH you BASTARDS!

I totally agree! Ireland has set the bar and hopefully more countries will follow suit. I've tried to teach my students that this is a civil rights issue... not much different from (and please excuse this reference... but it's all I have as an American) when blacks and whites could not be married. The same stupid "Jim Crow Laws" that plagued our country for way too long.

Bravo Ireland! Keep up the great work.

Topic If aliens came to our planet...

I just saw this thread and I wanted to share my answer.

Since I'm a romantic... I'd like to think aliens would come here to learn who we are... and then some would fall in love with our people. I know... silly.

So that's why you never RR my stories? Dang Sprite... I thought we were friends.

Remember when they still had movie rental places? I'm talking videotape era, and there was a tiny little section with employee recommended movies. That's all those RRs are. It's a story someone liked and they are recommending it. It's not an "award".

That's a good analogy. The RR gets you a place in the RR tab (for those looking for a story with that tag), a badge (no matter how many you earn), the "blue thumb" icon on the story, and in the category, it's placed in the "Suggested" tab so those who want to see what the Moderators felt were a story they'd want others to read.

Mods do try to pick what we feel is an amazing story or poem, but we also know that not everyone will agree with us. The only "awards" are the EP and Comp Winners. Those are the creme de la creme of stories. Of course, here too not everyone is going to agree.

For those who have earned an RR, it's an honor. It's a way of saying, "I think your story is so good I want my friends to read it too."

19 years, 9 months... I marred the man and he fathered my son. Divorced after a few years. Good father... lousy husband.

I have a few things I'd like to see:

1. If you collaborate on a story it would be nice if the actual story showed on both profiles.

2. If both writers followers would be contacted when it publishes and not just the person who submitted.

3. In email, it would be great if there was an option to send to All Followers.

I'd like to second this request.

Topic Announcing the Winners of our "This is Hardcore" Stories Competition
Posted 04 May 2015 20:14

I said she would win when she announced with Sprite that she was going to enter. That's just how good she is. Congrats Ashleigh. Well deserved. However, thanks to all that entered. There were several that entered I enjoyed reading; like Nymphwriter, Bethany, Buz, and Sprite to name a few.

Thank you for your kind words Chuck... especially since mine didn't even make top 10.

Congrats to the winner & the others in the top ten.

After I saw Sprite, Buz and Nymphwriter entered I thought why bother. But I'll probably enter to just prove I'm a hopeless optimist.

Just the fact you think mine is worthy is an honor. But seriously... enter... try... expand you options. This was my first try at hardcore and I kinda enjoyed it.

I think that I've come up with something that might work and I'm so excited. Of course the challenge for me is that I'm so sweetly innocent and absolutely wholesome that I may not be able to come up with something "deep and dirty" enough. angel7

Topic The Split of Our Front Page - Stories/Poems
Posted 04 Apr 2015 11:02

The separate poem and stories tabs have helped give attention to the amazing poems we get, and still gives the stories their due time on the home page. I give those pieces more time on the "first" page especially with the current comp, without taking away from all the great poems our writers produce. Of course not everyone will like the change. My first master teacher always told me, "The only person who likes change is a wet baby." But change is good, and I think this was a good change for all our writers: those who write only stories, and those who produce so many amazing poems. My 2 cents

Ah, well. d'oh!

I guess this thing is outdated then?

"New Stories only should be entered, not stories you've previously submitted here, or that have been published anywhere else online. Only standalone stories should be submitted, not those which are part of a series. Stories should be less than 12,000 words. Longer stories will be rejected.."

If the 10K limit is going to be super strict, then I'll just hold on to this story then for the foreseeable future until I can figure out what to do with it.

That old limit was how a couple of my earlier pieces slid through. Since then, the 10K limit has been in place (except when we had the Flash Erotica comp) and I for one am glad. I am no stranger to going over that limit and I've learned to either reign myself in, or just accept it will be a multi-part story.

From the comp page itself, it says this:

Stories for this competition should be under 10K words and contain one or more edgy sexual elements that puts the focus on the Hardcore and successfully melds the ‘deep and dirty’ with ‘the erotic’.

You're talented enough to write one within the guidelines of the 10K word limit. If this current one isn't going to make that limit, then break this one into two or more parts. The world wants & needs your amazing writing talents.
