Topic Classical Music
Posted 06 Oct 2012 20:35

I would recommend all of Beethoven's nine symphonies.

They are an entire world of music on their own. If you want to experience the entire compass of human emotions these towering masterpieces are a must.

The 9th symphony alone is a work without equal. For me, listening to it is tantamount to a religious experience. After having heard it I just want to go out and fight evil and injustice wherever they may be found.

Posted 06 Oct 2012 15:17

The Australian version is called 'The Shire'. It's a load of crap. It is scripted even though it was promoted as 'real life' and all of the cast are boring, stupid and unattractive - a waste of space and time.

Topic Deleted account
Posted 06 Oct 2012 15:05

I deactivated my account for a week or so because someone Google stalked me and found out my DJ stage name. Freaky!

I would strongly suggest to anyone who is concerned about their anonymity, privacy and personal security that they reveal as little as possible about themselves here and on any website.

Topic Authors, If you could recommend only one of your stories, which one would it be?

My 'Slave Princess' series contains some of my best writing and if I had to choose one story from it, it would have to be Chapter 2.

Yes. When I first became friends here on Lush with Katalyst she turned me on so much that I took the day off work so that we could cyber. I still remember that day very fondly.

As far as the rest of the world is concerned and I can only speak for us Aussies, the US elections are a beauty contest. We tend to stick to the same party and the same prime minister (president) for about ten or so years. We like Obama. What's Mit short for anyway; mitten?

Topic Grammar
Posted 26 Jul 2012 22:54

Part of the reason I gave up being a moderator was that I could not correct all the grammatical errors that I encountered and I felt bad returning some stories to their authors. Along with spelling mistakes and bad editing, story verification was becoming a big job. My advice to authors is to have a broad minded friend or relative read your poem or story. Sometimes a fresh perspective can pinpoint problems that you missed. Failing that, please spend some time editing - it makes all the difference.

Ours was a lamp of the genie variety. I don't think electricity had been discovered when some of my teachers were born.

Topic Happens for a Reason

I know all of that MF and as I said, I might be totally wrong. But down deep inside I just don't believe it. I don't agree that some animals are evil, they're just doing what comes naturally. It seems evil to us and just as a mouse needs to protect itself from a cat we need to protect ourselves from all those psychos out there that try to kill us. I've never even come close to working out which religion is the right one. They can't all be right. In the mean time, being a member of Lush is about as bad as I get. Good discussion topic btw.

Topic Happens for a Reason

I agree with you Han, I don't believe things happen for a reason. What difference is there between the death of a baby through disease and the death of an ant that you accidently step on in your garden? These are random events, unfortunate events yes but events that have nothing to do with good or evil.

The traditional view that the Judeo-Christian God is all poweful and all good fails to explain why there is 'evil' in the world - if God is all good and all-powerful then he would surely remove evil from the world. He either can't do it - which means he is not all-powerful or he can but does not want to, which means he is not all good. So why do we call him 'God'?

Homer and other ancient thinkers believed that the gods were so bored with being immortal that they caused strife for mankind in order to entertain themselves. Homer says many times in The Illiad that the gods could have stopped the Trojan War but they chose not too because it was so much fun watching humans slaughter each other. I'll pay that.

'Good' and 'evil' to me are purely human concepts. What is considered evil or sinful at one time or in one society is not considered so in another. There is no good and evil in nature there is only cause and effect.

We owe it to our fellow humans, to our fellow life forms and to our planet to be good and kind and caring because, I believe, we only have each other and there is no God looking out for us. But then again I could be wrong.

First of all, when guys have a wank they can't multitask. Our other hand is curled into a useless fist usually clutching a pillow or something else that reminds us of our absent beloved. Also; we can't speak, we can't see, we can't breathe, we can't think rationally, if fact we're not much use for anything until it's all over - only then do we start thinking about cleaning up.

Topic Recommend a book
Posted 21 Jul 2012 04:07

I must agree with Sholom, The Count of Monte Cristo is excellent. By the end of it you feel like you've known the characters for years and that you've become a part of their lives and they, a part of yours.

For something totally different try reading one of Ann Radcliffe's beautifully written Regency era books. Radcliffe was the best selling author of her day and influenced contemporaries such as Herman Melville, the Brontes and Jane Austen. 'The Mysteries of Udolpho' (1794) in particular is her masterpiece. It is the supreme gothic masterwork and the great, great grand daddy of everything that followed it by Mr Stoker, Ms Rice, Ms Rowling and Ms Meyer.

Oh yeah. This was on my bucket list even before bucket lists were invented. It was a VHS copy, of a copy, of a copy of a Traci Lords film the title of which now escapes me.

She : "So we're going to do all the stuff in this movie?"

Me: "Oh yeah babe."

She: "While it's playing.?"

Me: "Mmmmm..."

She: "My, you're so kinky!"

...Well, it was the early 80s.

And, might I add, I've been welcoming new people unofficially for years.......
