About

This story began as a gift to my wife. We both enjoy BDSM and we like reading stories about the lifestyle. Unfortunately, so much of what we could find online or at Amazon had dark, ugly overtones. Too many of the characters were broken people, doing messed-up things.

There was very little of the joy, love, and respect that we had found in the BDSM community.

So, I wrote about the world I knew. I had an overall story arc in mind from the beginning, but as I wrote, I was amazed to see the characters become real, each gaining their own voice. Sometimes, the characters would set off on their own, reaching a plot point through a different path than I had intended. Their independence was an unexpected joy.

After years of my writing a chapter every few weeks, my wife encouraged me to publish the whole story, which is now at my website (free) and on Amazon (free if you have Kindle Unlimited). Thousands of people have read it, many of whom have written wonderful comments.

Favorite Authors
If you like my writing, I think you’ll like one of my favorite authors, Sindra van Yssel
https://www.amazon.com/Sindra-van-Yssel/e/B0038Q5HI8
She has a gentle and inventive approach toward BDSM. Some of her earlier stories relied too much on the trope of broken, twisted characters, but that got much better as her writing matured.

I’d also strongly recommend Stjepan Šejić, also known as “Shiniez”. He is a Croatian artist and storyteller. His graphic novel “Sunstone” is a wonderful work in progress. This is a romance written and beautifully drawn by someone who truly understands BDSM. You can read his chapters on-line for free at:

You can find more polished print versions of his graphic story at:

and electronic versions at:

As for non-fiction, most of my “research” comes out of my own life experience. If you read the “Personal Words” section on my website, there are some links to real research. http://www.brentaden.com/blog

I’d also recommend this great non-fiction book about sex and relationships: “Arousal: The Secret Logic of Sexual Fantasies” by Michael Bader, http://amzn.com/B00BIV135Q

Bader’s book gave me wonderful insights into the interplay of both partners' secret sexual fantasies in a relationship. For me, finding/creating alignment between my spouse's fantasies and my own, has created a very strong relationship leading to decades of sexual play and constant desire.

The same author wrote a later book, “Male Sexuality: Why Women Don't Understand It-And Men Don't Either”, which is also quite good. http://amzn.com/1442203285

If you're interested in BDSM as a dominant, I’d definitely recommend John & Libby Warren’s “The Loving Dominant”, http://www.amzn.com/1890159727

To understand the enormous variety of kink, “Different Loving: The World of Sexual Dominance and Submission” by William Brame, Gloria Brame, and Jon Jacobs is incredibly useful. http://www.amzn.com/0679769560
