Topic Can a profile be too long?
Posted 08 Jul 2016 14:18

I prefer profiles be short, sweet, and not have a picture for a background. Keep it simple, silly.

Lol...you must really hate my page...and yeah, I do realize it's a bit long...the notes on each story might be of interest to some, though I did them originally for my own benefit...nice to be able to look back and remember the inspiration for a story or poem...

When I first moved in the area in '79, it didn't look like much, just an empty abandoned theater...and then a couple of years later it re-opened as a gay club called The Saint, and now apparently it's an apartment building with a bank in the lobby...yeah, things change...but a lot of great music got played there at one time...

And yeah, I am indeed a member of "The Poetry Posse" for 2016...so, I have to actually do some work every month...for this year anyway...here's the poem I wrote for the March issue...

Starting Anew

Flowers bloom, the Winter thaw,
Outside the songbirds sing.
With the arrival of the bluebirds,
I know that it is Spring.

But listening to the bird’s songs,
And watching the flowers bloom.
I can’t but help myself,
For feeling a certain gloom.

For I find myself a bit jealous,
As the flowers start anew,
So often I wish I could do the same,
If I just knew what to do.

Lol...yeah, it's funny...it's just a coincidence that someone asked me to write something poetic for their birthday yesterday...but it worked out, I think...I can always use a birthday poem, even for my own birthday...and it's nice to have a poem suitable for any occasion...

My friend Nadeem Bhatti over on Facebook wrote me earlier requesting I write him something poetic for his birthday, and post it on his timeline. Well, after giving it a little thought, the idea of writing a birthday poem seemed like a good idea...and I can tell you that his timeline today will not be the last time this one gets used...just sayin'

And yeah, it's just in time for my own birthday...I know, I know...Pour Wine

This Day Is Yours, It Belongs To You (Happy Birthday)

This day is yours, it belongs to you,
Do anything that you desire to do.
Watch your favorite shows, eat your favorite food,
Do anything that puts you in a good mood.

Your friends are here to celebrate too,
This day is yours, it belongs to you.
You’ve been working too hard, you need a break,
Sit down and have another piece of cake.

Open the presents your friends have bought,
You can see they’ve given this plenty of thought.
This day is yours, it belongs to you,
So spend it joyfully with your favorite crew.

Just here to wish you Happy Birthday,
That’s really all we have to say.
And may your dreams all come true,
This day is yours, it belongs to you.
