Topic "Madiba"...written for the upcoming Inner Child Press anthology...
Posted 31 Dec 2013 15:26

Note : This was written for the print anthology..."Mandela, The Man, His Life, Its Meaning, Our Words"...to be released by Inner Child Press in early 2014... and there's still some time to submit btw...if you're a day late, they won't mind...

Now Open for Submissions - Mandela

Madiba

He was the voice of those who had no voice,
The spokesman for the oppressed.
He became a true hero to the downtrodden,
Who had been denied their basic human rights.
There were those who tried to stop him,
But he proved himself a true force of nature.
Because you can arrest the man,
But you can't arrest his vision.
And while they could lock him in a cell,
They could not lock away his ideas.
And while they could put shackles on his body,
They could not put shackles on his dreams.
And those dreams live on,
To the very ends of the Earth,
In every classroom where black and white
Learn side by side.
In every place of worship,
Where young and old gather together,
In every peaceful demonstration,
Where tyranny falls, and liberty reigns triumphant.
And in the cry of every newborn,
That they be born into a world of hope and tolerance,
Where equality and civil rights are the norm.
For you can bury the man, but not his beliefs.
And though his voice may be silent,
His spirit will live on and on.

Topic Been wondering if I should post more...
Posted 29 Dec 2013 22:09

If you look at my stories, I haven't posted in months, mainly due to my depression of several personal things.

Actually, yeah...as others here have noted, you're not the only one who suffers from depression...I have for years btw...and I haven't posted anything here for a variety of reasons as well...

I agree with Miss Shy Daisy and the rest...if you feel like writing, write...if you feel like posting, post...there's no rule here says you have to post a certain amount per year or anything...and when you do feel like posting again...I guarantee, Lush will be here for ya'

Topic Vegans and Cum-Swallowing
Posted 29 Dec 2013 19:07

It is obvious, of course, that a true, honest Vegan would never suck down anyone's bodily fluids. They will use no animal products or parts what so ever. That is the truth. Neither skin, nor hair, nor flesh, nor milk, nor semen, nor pussy juices would cross their lips. And we humans are but animals of a sort. So there. Hah!!

Sounds to me like true Vegans would have a rather dull sex life...just sayin'

Posted 09 Dec 2013 19:01

I don't think you can help but put yourself into your own stories. Even when you're basing a character on someone else, it's your interpretation and your perception of them.

Yeah, I would tend to agree with that...most of my stories here are written in first person, and the main character is ostensibly me...but, not completely certainly...there's quite a bit of liberties taken here and there...I would tend to say my fictional self is somewhat more adventurous than the real life version, for instance...

Heck, if I did half the things my fictional self did, I'd probably be serving a life sentence in a penitentiary somewhere...just sayin'

Yeah, I usually don't start anything unless I have a pretty good idea how the story will go from start to finish...otherwise, I just end up staring at a blank screen myself...

Posted 17 Nov 2013 18:36

How long does it take you to write and do you ever research?

Generally, all the stories are done in one night, with a few exceptions that I can probably count on one hand...I think the only story on Lush that I ever did research for was "Flight Lessons"...and that was reading a couple of Wiki-How To articles on flying a Cessna 172...

Posted 17 Nov 2013 13:44

Thanks for your replies. My intention is not to offend, or steal, so I will not pursue this.

Yeah, if you got permission from the author first, it would be different...

Btw, I had somebody do something similar once...a reader took my first story, and put herself in it...and made a few minor changes, and sent it back to me...I thought it was kinda flattering actually...but, better to get permission before attempting something along those lines...

Like others pointed out...there is so much plagiarism and bad intent these days, some authors may be taken aback by your actions...no matter how innocent your intent...

Topic For all you story writers out there Question, how do you start your Stories?
Posted 16 Nov 2013 18:04

Once that's done, I often work at different parts of it at different times. Only rarely do I start at the beginning and just write through to the end.

Interesting...I do that with poems, but never with stories...at least not yet...so far, I've always started at the beginning and sort of kept writing until it ended...

Btw, I don't like to start a story until I have a pretty good idea as to how the whole thing will go...otherwise, I end up staring at a blank screen...

Topic ISBN Numbers...where to get them, and how much they cost...
Posted 25 Oct 2013 22:00

This little bit here may be of interest to anyone considering the self-pub thingy...check it out my writer-type friends...happy8

How to get an ISBN

In the US you can only buy ISBNs from http://www.myidentifiers.com/,
a site run by Bowkers. You can buy 1, 10, 100 or 1000 ISBNs. At
the moment a single ISBN costs $125, and a pack of 10 costs $250.

In the UK you can only buy ISBNs in packs of 10, which currently
cost £126. You need to obtain them from NeilsenBook.
http://www.isbn.nielsenbook.co.uk/controller.php?page=123

In Canada ISBNs are free! The process of getting an ISBN in Canada
is, however, quite convoluted, but this blog post explains it all:
http://randolphlalonde.blogspot.co.uk/2010/05/getting-your-free-isbn-in-canada.html

In Australia, you purchase ISBNS from
https://www.myidentifiers.com.au/. A single ISBN costs A$42, or
you can buy 10 for A$84.

For other countries around the world, I suggest you visit this
handy ISBN information page:
http://isbn-information.com/isbn-administration/isbn-agencies.html

Please note that having an ISBN for your book does not copyright
it. The ISBN is simply a means of having your book identified in
databases and by libraries.
