Nice guitars DirtyMartini!
Damn, out of curiosity, how much did you pay for that custom Les Paul, if you don't mind telling?
Thanks Serene P...and yeah, the guitars are absolutely gorgeous btw...the pictures really don't do them justice...
And I don't mind at all telling the story behind them, and yeah...if you think I went a bit nuts back in the late 90's...you just might be right...up until around that time, I really only had one guitar...an '83 Fender Stratocaster that I bought new...towards the late 90's, I got in a car accident where I was injured, and got an insurance settlement...I ended up spending all the money on guitars, pretty much anyway...though looking back, there were certainly a heck of a lot worse things I could have spent the money on...if you get my drift here...
Anyway, the first Gibson I bought was this one...it's a Custom Shop '54 Les Paul Custom re-issue...I believe it's a 1998, if I recall...could be a '97...it's actually in storage at the moment, but that's a whole other story...anyway, I believe this set me back $2300.00 or so...at the time, a regular Les Paul Standard was about $1500.00 or so, just to give you an idea...and I never owned a Gibson before, so this was a first for me...
Btw...these pictures I took on the "lawn" next to my condo where I lived were all taken in 1999, I believe...with an Exakta VXIIa camera from 1960/61...yeah, I collect Exakta cameras as well...something I've done like my whole adult life...
Anyway, yeah...I think I got the settlement just after I got that...I really loved the finish and feel of the Les Paul, but the fucker was heavy and the like...I started thinking about creating the ideal guitar, through the Gibson Custom Shop...the first one I ordered was the Trans Blue DC...pictured above...it set me back $4600.00...
Liked that so much, and yeah...the damn thing is absolutely gorgeous...I didn't stop after that...the next one I ordered was the red one pictured here...it is also the only DC ever made with three P-90's...or at least it was, last I heard...there was something different with the neck...anyway, it set me back $4900.00, being the most expensive of the three...and last, the white one, completed in 2001 was a mere $3800.00...cheaper mainly because of the opaque finish apparently...the white one has two 498R's and a 500T in the bridge position...note the multiple bindings, and parallegram inlays...it is basically sort of a LP Custom with two cutaways, though the electronics in my guitars is more complex...I have a push-pull switch on all three so I can get more pickup combinations, and the white one has an additional push pull switch for coil tap btw...
Here's a picture the factory sent me of the red one during production...I have other pics, but I can tell you that all three have similar looking tops under the finish...even the white one btw...
Anyway...if you have any other questions about them...feel free to ask...and thanks for your interest...

And, there was a Blog Talk Radio show tonight to coincide with the book release...
World Healing ~ World Peace Special
Not a big turnout for the radio show, but I believe that was because of some technical difficulties that seemed to be happening tonight, where a lot of people just couldn't connect, though the blue site's very own Hülya N. Yilmaz did make it, and did a great job I might add...what dedication these Stories Space members have, in addition to her massive doses of talent...I did hear my name mentioned a few times, as they tried to toss me to the lions, but I just sat on the sidelines this time out...
Anyway, there is also a YouTube video that was recently released...check it out my friends...

This is a really cool picture...Fender used the same paints during the 50's and 60's as the car companies...as this picture clearly shows...
And while we're on the subject of guitars...this is a 1999 Les Paul DC I had made by the Gibson Custom shop...it's the first DC with three PU's btw...(two '57 Classics and a 500T in the bridge position)...Sperzel locking tuners, gold hardware, ebony board...a few other things I can't think of at the moment...
This is a Les Paul prototype I bought at Sam Ash in Edison...damn, I forget what the exact model is called at the moment...Les Pro Junior Pro IV, if I recall correctly...it was Gibson's attempt at a cheaper LP, and it actually kind of sucks...the bridge is a Steinberger, and really needs to go...but, you can get fixed bridge replacements now...just haven't done it yet...that's another story...
Topic For anyone here who takes their Haiku seriously...
23 Mar 2014 21:08
WHAT THE HELL IS HAIKU?
Too much of what is passed off as haiku today is anything but haiku, nor is it related to hokku, the genre Matsuo Bashō pioneered. Few take the time to study haiku or hokku.
Haiku has no universally agreed upon definition. Undefined, it cannot be academically classified as a genre. Haiku is not a Japanese poetic form. It is a Western invent given to the world by Shiki, who subscribed to the German University based mindset adopted by Japan during the Meiji era.
The following are links to six essays and a postscript dealing with Haiku and Haiku Aesthetics penned by Robert D. Wilson. They are influencing how the literary world views the genre. Combined, they form a textbook over 500 pages in length,
I challenge each of you to read these essays:
The Importance of Ma
Reinventing The Wheel
To Kigo Or Not To Kigo
Is Haiku Dying?
The Colonization of Japanese Haiku
Postscript: What Is and Isn't Haiku

Where I was living at the time I wrote that, I used to get requests to read it out loud rather often...a couple of people would bring friends around just to hear it and stuff...seems most people laughed until they had tears in their eyes...
It was almost a bit embarrassing though, especially when someone would bring someone really heavy around...lol...oh well...nobody seemed to care about anything else I wrote at the time btw...
