Topic Time to throw out Congress?
Posted 03 Oct 2013 17:20

It's a pretty long one, but basically he says that the constitution is to blame for the shutdown and advocates for the removal of the current political system in the US and get in parlamentarism instead. There are currently two houses that are put equal, and basically it makes it rather difficult for the voters to know exactly who to blame for things going to shit.

In 2010 the economy was garbage, so, as political science would predict, the American people punished the party in power, the Democrats.

But the diffusion of power throughout the political system made it impossible to know for sure who was responsible for the state of the economy. Maybe it was the fault of Susan Collins and other moderate senators who used filibuster threats to cut the stimulus. Maybe it was the fault of the rest of the Republican caucus for imposing a 60-vote threshold for stimulus and not cooperating. Maybe it was the Bush-appointed Federal Open Market Committee's fault for not loosening rates in 2007 and 2008. Maybe it was all Obama's fault for not pushing for more stimulus, and Democrats in Congress would have been happy to pass it.

In most other countries the government needs the backing of the parliment to actually be appointed. Sure, both Italy and Germany have presidents, but the power is with the Prime Minister who runs a government based on which party got how many seats. In terms it's quite easy to see who to blame; it's the guys in power, no matter what. It's not a question of whether it's the President/Prime Minister or the people in the parliment. A survey showed that only 10% of the US population have faith in the congress(couldn't find the source, sorry), and I doubt things will improve over this stalemate.

So is it time where they should actually have a voting on whether or not to rethink the entire political system and adopt parlamentarism with only one house?

OK I should of said, do you think BB is a way to communicate with your friends when you see them online. This has nothing to do with cybering or sexual talking, or do you think it is privating?

You're talking to someone, so it is a way of communication if you look at the definition of the word. I'm not sure what you're asking for here. It's communication between you and another person that no one else can see. Maybe if you gave a tad more info then it would give some better paramters...

Topic Washington Redskins: Time to change the name?
Posted 14 Sep 2013 09:28

We change in the way we percieve words. If you called a black man a nigger in the 60's you were a regular white person, today you're a racist. I think that the same is with Redskin. It used to be a perfectly acceptable word to use(even if it was meant in a discriminating manner), but today it's not all that ok. If it had been a couple of overly politically correct reports then I would have said show them the finger, because I usually just hate journalists. If the movement and desire for change is at grassrot level, then it's need to change. A club is nothing without it's supporters, and in manners like this the supporters should be heard. Just don't change it to Washington Native Americans, that will just look ridicilous...

Topic How many hours of sleep do you need?
Posted 10 Sep 2013 18:14

How many hours of sleep do you need per night?

I'm simply curious to know.

Personally, I need a minimum of 8 hours, but to really feel my best I need at least 9 hours. It's not rare for me to sleep 10-11 hours on the weekend either.

I answered 9 hours on the poll.

I've always been a big sleeper and envy those who can get away with less sleep time.

You have a rather unhealthy sleep pattern that at some point is going to backfire on you. I had a similar one to what you have, sleeping at all kinds of hours and my shrink gave me a very thourogh explenation of why that is going to fuck you up. There are two different theories regarding sleep. One is that we have four different stages of sleep; REM, Alpha, Beta and Delta sleep. REM is when you dream and your brain is very active, while Delta is when your brain is more or less shut off and it's only keeping your vitals alive. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has woken up one hour before the alarm clock and felt refreshed and then thought "I can sleep an hour more!" and then woken up pretty much ruined despite having one hour more of sleep. This is because if you wake up during REM then your brain is pretty much switched on and it only need a few more switches to become 100% functional. However if you go from Delta to fully awake then it's like starting an old engine in 30 degrees below zero.

The second is that you have a section of your sleep called Nadir. This is usually at around 4 AM if you go to sleep at around 10-11. Switching this around so that at one stage it's 5 AM and then suddenly 3 AM and so forth fucks you up and you'll wake up feeling exhausted. The most effective way for this not to happen is basically just keep a set sleeping pattern all week, e.g. to bed at 12 and up at 7, even through the weekend. They've done quite a bit of research on it.

They also say that more than 7 hours of sleep a night is unhealthy and that you'll actaully die younger if you sleep 9 hours a night versus 6 hours a night.

Personally I have been able to function on 3 hours of sleep, as long as my brain is occupied. That's the important thing for me. If I do something boring and mundane, like sitting on a long bus trip, then I'll be exhausted even after 9 hours of sleep. What happens when I'm awake is more important than how long I sleep for me to function.

I would suggest riding a bike, it be stationary or actually going outside the gym, and run it on lighter gears. Then you keep movement but you don't really put pressure on it. Movement is good unless you're healing from a fracture or a torn tendon or something, but not putting weight on it.

Ask your doctor if there's anywhere they can take a mould or scan of the underside of your foot. It's a very common problem that the weight isn't distributed evenly like it should when you walk or run. This can cause problems all the way up to your lower back. Treatment is a pair og custom made soles you put in your shoes.

If you have knee problems in general then get good shoes and don't run on pavement or treadmill. Find a softer surface to run on.

Topic State of La Health Department destroys 1600 lbs of venison at homeless shelter
Posted 05 Sep 2013 18:22

Apparently, the venison wasn't destroyed because it wasn't inspected or properly handled, it was rejected just because it was venison. Louisiana law forbids the serving of venison in any public place, restaurants or any public eating facility, such as a homeless shelter. They had been eating venison for years at this homeless shelter, but one of the people complained about being fed deer meat.

It only takes one asshole to ruin things for everybody.

Is this because of health reasons? I know that we in Norway have strict rules regarding livestock being given antibiotics and how long it takes before you can send them to the slaughter house. Can it be that there's something that the deer eat in the wild that makes it kinda dodgy to actaully take money for the meat. Some kind of disease that has ridden the area? After all, they do suspect that the Muslim ban on pigs was actually due to pigs were usually disease ridden. Basically if this is the case then what kind of signal would it send out if you say "You can't sell this to paying customers, but you can give it to the homeless." Imagine the state recieving the heat for calling homeless people second class citizens.

But this is just me speculating.

I might have a wrong impression of American society, but consider this scenario and tell me if you find it implausible; someone eats the venison and gets sick and maybe dies because of it. They do an autopsy and find out it was something wrong with the venison. A family member that has no sense of morality and common decency decides to sue someone, maybe even the city, for letting food that hasn't gone through the proper channels be distributed to homeless people. Person gets X million dollars even though the judge says "This is fucking ludicrous, but it's the law."

It's a fucking stupid and horrendous scenario, but I've learned to never underestimate the greed of humans.

But it isn't immoral to break the laws?

In answer to this; it all depends on whose side you're looking at and what moral law they broke. Woman is forced into a marriage and can't by law get out of the marriage. Her husband beats her and abuses her in all kinds of ways. She flees the country and has thus by definition broken the law of her country. From her husbands and the local views she has acted immoral, but from a western point of view she has broken a inhuman law and is thus not immoral. You seek for a simplistic answer in a place there is none.

As for your scenario, there are no moral obligations for anyone considering our point of view, but maybe if he has a relative that have helped him out with different necessary tasks and helped him build up his empire it could be immoral to throw out a good portion of his inheritance into the sea.

To me it more seems like he's doing what you do a lot of the time; trolling clown

As for laws an morality in general, it seems to me you're saying that without morality there would be no laws. That's wrong. Without morality there would be pragmatism, you'd have a completely neutral view on what makes the society run smoothest and will benefit most if not everyone. Let's remove morality out of the equation and throw out the law against stealing as well. It becomes easier to break a window and get what you want than it is to actually go to work and earn what you need to buy the ware. Society will if not stagnate then at least slow down due to there not being anyone buying or producing things, but they're instead stealing it. Even societies that have had no problems with blood vengance due to deaths have had secondary solutions simply because it doesn't benefit society that people go on killing each other.

Not so sure about the idea of a newbie chatroom. Can imagine plenty of guys wanting to"help" the newbies...

Consider the chatroom as a bar. You go in and see a bunch of people. You order a beer and then dit down at a corner table and don't talk to anyone. Do you think it would be fair to call the other people in the bar cliquy because they didn't approach you? Try talking to someone. There are hundreds of people that go into the chatroom and you're sure to find someone that will say hi back. Just don't be too timid to engage in a conversation.

I just wash with regular soap and a washcloth. I also trim my pubes which makes me sweat less in the entire area. Never had any problems with it.

I'm guessing most guys, at least uncircumsiced guys, have had the experience of finding cock cheese under their foreskin. Little white stuff that looks kinda like feta cheese. This isn't a sign of you having a shitty hygiene, it's actually glands around the head that's excreeting it as an additional lube. It's made from the same stuff that comes out of your zits when you squeeze them, so yes ladies, you have cock cheese too. And it's in your face. But if you see it, wash it off. Once it has reached that stage it has no more use.

Topic Proposed anti-paparazzi bill aimed at protecting children
Posted 20 Aug 2013 13:02

How about passing a law that says you can't post or publish pictures of children(below 18) without the parent or legal guardian's written consent. Sure, you take out the paparazzis and they'll cry about free press and all that, but then again; what about the protection of other children? Children that are somehow involved in witness protection program, children that are hiding from abusive parent(s). I'm sure if we took the time we could come up with hundreds of reasons why posting pics of people under the 18 without the parent's written consent should be against the law.

If national security can override civil liberties, then why the hell can't the protection of children do so?

Those Paparazzi's are in general the bottom feeders of society. The scum of the earth. Even if Halle Berry moved to the middle of Montana she would still have a bunch of paparazzi's following her and her kids, because they're celebreties. Headlines would be "See Berry's new country life" and so forth. Once you've hit the star, these piranahs will go through hell and back to get pictures of you. The newer and more different the better. Just look at Lady Diana. She was dead in her car and those bastards were still taking pictures of her.

So no, the paparazzis will get no sympathy from me. They're the kind of people that abuse the 1st ammendment and freedom of press and make a mockery of it. No way in hell will I ever stand shoulder to shoulder with those cunts.

Distrust sadly is no real damage. Just because there are a bunch of human rights violations doesn't mean people will stop buying stuff from the US or stop accepting US money in whatever form it comes. The US has only lost face, nothing more.

And the corrupt old facists at IOC won't stop the olympics unless there is footage of Putin in Siberia standing in front of a Gulag and says in very broken English "In here we kill faggots". It's the very terrible truth of how money has corrupted what used to be an event that was about peace.

If Russian law - or homophobic hooliganism causes arrest or injury of foreign athletes or olympic attendees, the Olympics are going to get a serious and deserved black eye. Russia/Putin may or may not care, but its rep will take damage.

Putin and Russia are too powerful to give a crap about their reputation, especially regarding something like this. Come summer the incidents would sadly be forgotten. Just look at the US. How many scandals have not the US in general been a part of over the years, with Gitmo, Abu Ghraib, Iraq war, Manning, Snowden and PRISM and all the other things, yet still there are more skeletons in the closet as the rest of the world views it. The USA, Russia and China are a couple of the countries in the world that are so powerful and influential that they can give the finger to the rest of the world.

Now the Norwegian IOC member have actually gone on record and said that anyone who wants to do the a pro-gay protest should just forget about it because it's in the Olympic charter that there will be no politicla demonstration by athletes. So basically, Sprite on the the top of the podium wrapping herself in the rainbow flag would make her lose her medal.

Edward Snowden, sir. And that man is a patriot. In this matter, Obama deserves to be trolled on a worldwide stage, as Putin is currently doing to him. We can only hope Vlad does him a real solid and helps him get somewhere on a permanent basis, in or out of Russia.

My bad. Have no clue where I got John from. I'm blaming the painkillers. Regardless, the producers will be under such heavy censorship that any hope we have of seeing protests will be through foreign media that isn't controlled by Vlad. And do you really think they'll give much time when they can bring you news about how awesome your country is and how annoyed the rest are? Human rights violaton abroad is a quick story. Sad, but true.

Topic Gay Rights in Sochi, Russia- Boycott or Protest?
Posted 09 Aug 2013 19:57

Boycot or no boycot, Putin won't really give a shit. That's the sad truth of it. This is the man that OK'd a political asylum to John Snowden and practically gave Obama the finger and laughed. He has made sure that a shitload of money(including all the bribes to IOC) have been spent in Sochi and nothing anyone can do will stop him from having his olympics, because to him that's what they are; his olympics.

If a boycot was done by countries then it would probably piss off the athletes more than Putin. Imagine USA boycotting. Maybe they'd get a few countries with them, but the rest wouldn't really care. More medals to them. The US athletes that don't give a crap might start wondering if they should let politics rule their chance of getting olympic medals.

Let the politicians and civil rights group deal with those issues. These athletes plan years ahead for this event. This isn't their job. The amount of time that goes into making sure they are top level makes this their life. I think it is unfair that we demand that these athletes give up their dreams just because a bunch of retarded politicians have passed a law that will be removed in a short time. Russia is changing and change will come before we know it.

If your boyfriend snores badly then ask him if he can sleep on his side or stomach. Usually snoring is due to sleeping on their back and chest pressing down and stuff like that. If that doesn't work ask him to see a doctor. Maybe he has a medical problem that can be fixed with a small surgery. Should he get offended by this then I say dump him. If they get upset by something as simple as snoring just imagine how it's gonna be when something big comes up.

Topic Pope Francis on Gays - "Who am I to judge?"
Posted 06 Aug 2013 06:07

Let's change the quote a bit.

If someone is a serial killer and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?

See what I did there? It's not about "Gay people are alright" it's all about seeking abolition for your sins, and that God will accept every sinner as long as they regret their sins. Pope Francis lashed out rather hard against gay marriages when he was a cardinal and I doubt he's changed his stance on it in the short time he's been Pope. Does anyone really believe that if it had been known he was ok with gays that he'd been elected? I'm betting the Catholic church is like any parliment around the world; you may have your dirty secrets hidden from the public, but if you secretly support gays the other members will know about it. Not to mention since most of the high ranking catholics are still anti-gay then he'd run a huge risk of compromising the Catholic church with a statement like that. I don't believe the pope accepting gays until he sits in his chair and proclaiming that what he says to be the truth from God and then says gays are ok. Until then I'm afraid we're stuck with a gay hating church.

You making sure you get enough calories in your diet? Living a very active lifestyle requires a lot more calories than a less active person. Seeing as you do a lot of work out almost every day you need tp maintain a healthy level of intake so your body actually starts using energy and burning calories. Training isn't all about running, it's about eating the right amount as well.

If you don't eat enough your body will just shut down and save energy. End result is that doing the same runs will take more time or you'll run less before you're knackered.

Another thing could be how long you've had your old starting weight. If you've been X lbs for a long enough time then your body will actually do what it can to maintain that weight. If that's the case then basically it's more about stubbornness and doing it long enough for your body to give up and go "alright, I'll lose some more weight then!"
