I am sure we all have whether it was when we were young and that friend of the family was there but could not be approached. Or maybe you were older and you were unavailable or the other person was unavailable.

But you never know things change and the unattainable sometime come around and you get a second chance.

I have wanted to be with about a thousand women, including the lovely lady who posted the above message. Usually it is because she is really nice.

No. There's a non-zero probability of me being with any person I've wanted to be with.

Oh of course!! I'm a soppy romantic at heart, however I think that things do tend to work out for the best in the end...

They do say that what's for you won't go by you (well, in Scotland they do, don't they Clum?) It's true too!! (thank goodness!)

Nothing to see here...

The romantic in me believes that fate will bring me back to the one I'm meant to be with. Someone who is right for me from my past. I still keep a flame kindled in my heart for them and lament the could have beens often.

I still dream of my happily ever after and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Yes and though I really shouldn't, some small part of me still wants it. I know it's futile, so I don't tend to outwardly bother about it, though internally, I at least acknowledge it and then choose to ignore it.

Oh yeah! But I knew It could never be and stifled the feelings. Then he showed me the ring he was going to use to propose to his girlfriend and all those feelings went away.

Absolutely - but I do not dwell on it.

Yes, I want to be with a woman so bad. She won't let me though as I am much older. I am so in love with her.
She is the only one I want.

The attraction was intense for both of us, more an instant bonding a comfort level that I have never before expirenced. A touch and electricity shot through our bodies, no one ever moved me like she did, but I was married and I knew that if I let things go to far the guilt she would feel would destroy the relationship and forever scar the memory. So I walked away!

yes! it can be so frustrating, I remember one female friend who wanted to have an affair with me (we were both married), I told her "no, it would be so much fun, but no", she would have been the greatest sexual partner, but it would've have all fallen apart.

Yes and it sucked. We really liked each other but we were at such different points in our lives. We stayed friends but the best thing to do was to just move forward with our own lives.

Absolutely! I lived in an apartment complex and my neighbors were a single mom with three sisters. The youngest was 17 at the time. This was many years ago. We both wanted it but new it was not right. I was 24 at the time. Years later we were at a school reunion and ran into each other. We hugged and kissed each other. We were holding hands and just looked at each other knowing what we could have had. There are song lyrics from the 70s' that comes to mind... "Oh, it's sad to belong to someone else when the right one cones along."

Yes, I did. I was very young, 16. I used to walk with her to college and got to know her really well, I always thought she was out of my league so I never plucked up the courage to ask her out. So over two years, we walked to college together and talked a lot, saw each other outside college and just got on. I went to University and she moved away too.

Saw her again when I was 23 and we met a few times, I thought just as old friends. So, it came to a head when I had a date lined up and she invited me to a party. At the party, she asked me how I felt about relationships and she meant with her. Only I had this date with a really nice girl so I blew her off even though I was really attracted to her.

Fast forward a few years later, many years (about seven). I've broken up with that girl I chose to date over her. I was due to marry her and well, it was messy for me.

She asked about why I never dated her and well, there was too much water under the bridge. It wasn't meant to be and I wasn't in a good place. We lost touch and that was that.

I think about her almost every day and that's twenty four years later.

35+ stories to my name now and still enjoying writing them as if it was my first......
