I have used the html link codes (a href code which I have used many times on web pages) but when I click on the banner, it goes to the banner website, not the story page. ?????

I make banners from scratch in photoshop.

I really really , really wanna offer some pointers here, but don't wanna sound as OCD as I actually am.

These banner sites are ok, and I understand the normal lushie does not use the programs I do. But I have some tips, SERIOUSLY have some tips .

Just to help in the execution of these "banners".

Respond if you want them, tell me to Eff off otherwise :) bunny

This is a very useful resource that many members would love to know about. I believe it deserves a sticky so that it wont fall out of view.

Thanks to DM for his link. That will give me all the help I need!

I use mostly online banner makers, since I lost my pirated copy of Photoshop. If anyone has tips on using Gimp, let me know.

I actually do something even more simple than all of that.

I use an online pic-editor called iPiccy and upload the image I want.

You can change the colors, make it cartoonish, lots of options, and for fonts, you can choose from a whole list they have, and you can place it where you want it, versus "in line" like some banner sites have them.

After I'm satisfied with the way my pic looks, I just upload it to my photobucket account, and use the "imbed image" and "create link" buttons in the Edit Signature section ... I made every single one of my banners that way, and I wasn't limited by some pre-written program.

I totally agree. thumbup Can we pretty please get this "stickied?"

Every time I've changed the banner in my signature, I've come to find this thread because I never remember the process. Also, the sites that offer the free banners are great as well.

Step one: Friend someone with awesome graphic skills. Step two: Ask friend to make banner. Step three: You're done! I have the artistic skills of a rock. Less than, actually, since some rocks boast petroglyphs.

I don't have an artistic bone in my body, but have managed to make banners for all my stories and forum signatures with this website. I'll leave others to judge how good my banners are, but the website's excellent!

I use Gimp. No, it's got nothing to do with a fetish. It's free, it's open source and it's just as good, if not better than Photoshop. I use it for all of my photo processing and there are heaps of YouTube videos on how to use the layers, create and edit text and blending. If you search Tutor4u, he has some great instructional videos that any novice can follow..

1. Post the image as you normally would, so it looks like this (without the spaces):
Code:
[img]http://YourImageUrl.jpg[/img]

2. Highlight the image code, and select the hyperlink icon (little globe with a chain underneath), and when prompted, insert the url of your choice. It should look like this (without the spaces):
Code:
[url=http://www.LinkOfYourChoice.com][img]http://YourImageUrl.jpg[/img][/url]

I'm a tad computer illiterate. At least until I do something at least once. I made the banner on banner fans, so I don't have the globe with chain link. I assume I just put something before and after it, but that's out of my realm of knowledge.

You don't add the link until you add it to your forum signature here, on the site. You just get the image url from banner fans and paste it, highlight it, then select the globe-chain link to paste the link to your story.

Ok, so I got it, except when I click it, it goes to another page that is blank. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?
