Why does everyone have to be "special?" If everyone is special, doesn't that mean that no one is?

There are special people
and special people...
think with their heart.

Being special is not based on needs.
Being special is based on deeds.

Some people exist on foul air.
Special people exist on life...
for I know.

A special person told me so. cheerleader

What defines special? It's different to us all, and I'm sure everyone is special to at least one person. It depends on how you mean special. It's pretty open, you can be special in a lot of senses.

I'm a unique little snow flake, no matter what you say! *storms off in a huff*

But in all seriousness, there's nothing we can do to 'try' to be special. Trying is what ruins it, in my opinion. As cheesy as this sounds, we all are special in a sense. Billions of people on this planet and no two are the same...not even identical twins.

The best we can do is make the best of what time we have here, and make our existence worthwhile for someone besides ourselves.

Define special. In my mind I'm absolutely awesome, to others I may be just another insignificant blimp on the planet.

You don't have to do anything amazing in life to be special to someone, it's all in the eyes of the beholder. Everyone is special to someone. There's many reasons a person can be special to someone, their laugh, smile, how kind they are. It's not all about how successful and accomplished you are.

For me, the need for us to be special stems from some flawed beliefs that we keep on thinking such as we're not good enough or we can never be happy. But if we change those beliefs and follow our heart's desires, we will realize that we don't need to accomplish anything to be 'special', we're special in the first place and accomplishing anything is just the propensity.

I have had several long talks with myself about this subject. We have come to the conclusion that there are two kinds of people in the universe...me and everybody else.

And if that's not good enough, my MOM thinks I'm special!

I believe we, the Homo Sapiens are special.
Our evolutionary process has led us to the height of evolutionary tree.
This evolution has made us thinking, analyzing and recollecting prowess.
It has also given us the power to destroy other species as well as US the humans too.
But it has given us the rationale to decide not to destroy US or even others; even the highly venomous snakes who can and do kill some of US.
We have come to realize that the destruction of US lies in the destruction of the environment that is sustainable with our efforts.
And we are now working hard to make the future of mankind more sustainable.
THE THOUGHT TO PRESERVE OUR MOST DEADLY ENEMIES IS SUCH A GREAT ATTAINMENT THAT IT MAKES ALL OF US SO SPEACIAL.

How sad it is therefore if one does not have someone who thinks and says s/he is special to him/her :/

We are all essential, special...I don't believe anyone is better than anyone else. We all bleed red, we all need oxygen to live, we all cry the same kind of tears...we are essential but in my eyes special...no. It is a myth. Essential. Special? Maybe to people who love us and need us but in the scheme of the world or universe, not really.

Sigh I get you. It is rather sad when I think of it that way though, that in the scheme of the universe, we all are not special :/
