I do not believe in destiny as such. I don't think there is some grand plan laid out for us.

I do believe in Karma though. I feel that how one lives and how one interacts with others will affect how the universe will treat them.

I believe there are energies at work we don't understand. I can feel it.

No. To believe in destiny is to believe that you shouldn't try, because if something goes wrong it's 'destiny'. To me destiny is a bad excuse.

i do! i believe in free will AND destiny!

when i was a kid i used to read these particular books...and at the end of the page it would give you a choice at how the story unfolds. i.e. for option A turn to page 123 for option B turn to page 82. they were so fun!

and i equate free will and destiny to that. i have the free will to choose whichever one i want and when i do, it has become my destiny.

destiny isnt an excuse (or shouldnt be) for complacency .. it is simply what you were meant to do or to choose.

it was my destiny that i didnt figure out my life until age 42 when most do it in their 20's BECAUSE of the choices or free will that i have exercised these past 2 decades.

Destiny, kismet, fate? No. Opportunities, yes. Luck? No. Karma, definitely.

I have been holding out ... believing in Destiny/Fate .... but at this point, I am thinking, perhaps it is just wishful thinking - a way to convince myself that the best has yet to arrive.

(looking at my watch ... "Universe - time is ticking!")

It's like the idea of a soulmate .... the idea that one was meant to do "something" ... and no matter how you examine it ... it (whatever that it is/was) was meant to be.

I'll let you know when I find Destiny .... and I hope it arrives soon!

Yes I do believe in destiny. I also believe in free choice and going you own way.
I think that a person has a destiny but a man/woman can change and alter their destiny.

I do not. I'm of the Margaret Meade POV. Meade, arguably the "Mother of Cultural Anthropology", was three times divorced. When a reporter asked about her 'failed' marriages, she said," I didn't have any failed marriages. I've been married three times and each marriage was successful."

This, of course, was a statement of how we change throughout our lives, and have differing needs in each stage of our lives. This isn't to say I do not believe two people can or should remain married to each other throughout their lifetime together. I simply mean to say that we each grow and change as we get older. We can, as couples, either choose to grow together or, invariably, we will end up growing apart.

As far as fate goes, I'm not a fatalist but I must say I believe the energy of the world (some may call it god...I don't know what to call it) does place us in the paths of others with whom we can connect, or with whom we might have special relationships. Whether we choose to take advantage of those opportunities is another thing. But, I've met some amazing, brilliant people with whom I cannot help but feel I was destined to meet and affect/be affected by in some way.

We can make our destiny or be still never counting or missing the moments in a day without regret until they are gone.

Torture the data long enough and they will confess to anything.

I believe there are people who we meet in our lifetime that we need to meet. They teach us valuable lessons that we need to learn. Good and Bad.
Is it destiny......no.
We meet the same types of people over and over but its only when we are ready to learn those lessons that we need to learn do we listen.

I believe in the Ancient Greek legend of the "Fates". I know they are not real but it seems even then they (Ancient Greeks) believed in taperstry of Life aka Destiny.

Axl - Take a look at our piercing menu.

Daria - I don't think that's how you spell "uvula."

Axl - That's not "uvula."

Destiny is simply the outcome of a series of unrelated events, it's used as an abstract reason for that outcome. It's just a way of explaining the inexplicable.

I'm not too sure if I believe in 'destiny'( as in our future is pre arranged) but I do believe that things happen for a reason. Possibly the world giving you a message..

I thought it was my destiny to marry Joe Strummer, but he died before I even met him, so no I don't believe in destiny anymore. Imho, there is no grand plan for our lives.

Yes. I met Destiny at a strip club in New Orleans and convinced her to leave with me. It turns out the Destiny was not her real name and that strippers use what they call a "stage name". Who knew? I also met Porsche and Mercedes.

Destiny makes life worth living. Knowing that you have a purpose, a path, a destiny.

I don't believe in destiny, it is just being in the right place and at the right time. I met the most important two women in my life online and I could have easily missed one or both of them if I was not online or if I was pre-occupied.
