Derogatory : tending or intended to detract, disparage, or belittle ; intentionally offensive.

A term is not really 'derogatory' on it's own. The way it's used can be. If I simply say to my friends "This girl is nice, but she's a bit of a butterface in my opinion", that's not derogatory. If that girl is in front of me and I shout "Hey look everyone, it's that butterface again!", that's derogatory.

I wouldn't say anything bad in front of a girl because that's simply impolite. I don't say much bad things in their backs either, to be frank.

You don't have to explain the term 'derogatory' to me, I was the first one on the thread to use the word. My question was about the 'to a degree'. You have a different opinion of the meaning of derogatory than I do. Whether something 'belittling, offensive or disparaging is said to someone's face, behind their back, or to someone else is still, by your quoted definition, derogatory.

Again, I will say I was not judging/disrespecting anyone's fetish, sexual preferences etc....My opinions weren't based on the movie either. They were based on Klox's seemingly total lack of respect for women as a whole. I know my opinion doesn't make me right or wrong, however I think a lot of people posting on this thread are misinterpreting what I said in my first post, copied below. It wasn't about the fetish itself.

I apologise for this post in advance to everyone except Klox. THIS OP almost made me sick. I cannot believe what I just read. You talk about a woman as if she were your own personal plaything, oh she's got to have a disfigured face, but it's alright if the rest of her is perfect, and you should be SO ashamed of yourself. Guess what? I'm guessing you're FAR from perfect. In fact, I think what you just wrote in your OP is absolutely rotten, stinkingly disgusting. No, there are NO words to describe how shitty what you just posted up there is. How a man can talk about a woman like that is beyond my comprehension.

I'm not disrespecting the rights of anyone for their personal fetishes, what I'm addressing is your seemingly total lack of respect for women as a whole. I think there is something seriously wrong with a society that would consider what you just wrote as acceptable.angry7

I hope every one of these unfortunate girls that you approach, turns you down flat and then calls you ugly and fat. There is SO much more I'd like to say in this post but i'll leave it at that.

My apologies again to Lush for my post but to me, it's worth risking a ban to call out on such a sickening OP in a thread on a public forum. cussing

The callousness of this post has made me tear up and it usually takes a lot to do that to me. Congratulations! No other post here has ever done that. sad10

This shouldn't have to be said in multiple threads throughout the site: If you have a personal issue with someone, take it up in private.

The OP asked if anyone has a disfigurement fetish. Either you do or you don't. The browbeating and chest thumping is getting old.

fe·tish
noun \ˈfe-tish also ˈfē-\

: a strong and unusual need or desire for something

: a need or desire for an object, body part, or activity for sexual excitement

: an object that is believed to have magical powers

Just because you don't understand it, it doesn't mean it's wrong. A fetish by definition is an objectification of someone or a particular part of their body. As Ashleigh said above me, who gives a flying fart in space what two consenting adults are into? There are women and people in general who don't mind being objectified. Just because you personally wouldn't be into it doesn't make it wrong. Shit.

Apparently though, she did hear the calling and went under the knife for extensive surgeries. Obviously I have nothing against such choices, but I do think she looked way better in her 'before' face.

That's really the same gal pre-surgery? Holy ballz, she was drop dead gorgeous. dontknow

I'll never understand why girls feel the need to modify themselves like this. Is it purely the objectification in the media these days? Their parents? Undiagnosed psychological imbalances?

I don't pretend to know what it is. Humans for you I guess. dontknow

All that said, we all must have vastly different opinions on butterface.

I have heard the term before, just to make things clear. I've always viewed it as a girl has a knockout body and an "ok" as in average to maybe slightly below average face that didn't quite match said body.

But that's not a butterface fetish to the OP, as slippery made it known. It's something else imo.

And to be clear......no. I don't think I have any strange fetishes unless you count being attracted to intelligent, cute girls as a fetish.

None of the above. It's common sense to not get worked up over what consenting adults enjoy...especially if it doesn't involve you.

The term is purely a subjective one, in fact possibly subjective by other people.
To a degree doesn,t come into it, it's a "one's man meat". There isn't a single person on this site that doesn't have preferences, I sure do. I don't tell a woman that I don't like tits, that's polite not derogatory. I also don't tell a guy that I don't like shaved pubes, that's crass.
Life is about personal choices, we shouldn't be castigated in a sex forum for expressing their choices or fetishes or we become the very people that try to shut us all up.

Are you saying that girls who are a 'little overweight' and didn't have an awesome face,",are not perfect, or up to your usual standard, but you screwed them anyway? Or that you did them some kind of favour by screwing them? I'd really like to know.

I really wish I hadn't read this thread ... *sighs* All it did was get me pissed of at certain members.

As far as the OP goes ... I know of the butterface fetish, but I don't know many with it, but a girl friend of mine has a butisface fetish ... Her man's built like a brick shithouse, but has a damn ugly face. But I ain't hating. I've had a couple exes like that, too.

I always say it takes all kinds of parts to make a ship stay afloat, and not one of em works the same as another. We've all got out kinks, be it spankings, tickling, BDSM or disfiguration. To each their own!

I'm out, some of you don't want to accept that my original post on this thread was not about the fetish itself, nor whether it is between 2 consenting adults. I've pointed it out twice already, If some of you read the whole thread, or at least my first post on the thread, instead of reading only the last few posts, you will see I wasn't disrespecting anyone's fetishes or kinks. When my first post is read, I cannot see where or how I disrespected Klox's fetish, nor did I mention anything about 'consenting adults'.

From the point I posted my original reply on this whole thread, the posts quoting me went from a few agreeing with my opinion, then to 2 pages of posters berating me for basically "condemning the OP for his fetish, or something between consenting adults" which is incorrect.

I don't have a major issue with the "butterface" fetish. If a guy likes a chick with a smoking body, But-'er-face... that's his prerogative. I think the issue that may arise from someone having this particular fetish is thinking that a guy is doing a "butterface" a favor by sleeping with her.

It's really no different than someone being a "chubby chaser" or into "midget" porn or being a size queen. The problem comes about because the focus and naming of some fetishes is on a negative aspect of a person. So it tends to bring up body and emotional issues.

All of us have needs. I knew a guy that was into "big" women because he said they were better in bed. Said they'd do more to satisfy him than "skinny chicks" who thought it was his honor that he got to fuck them. Sadly, there may be some truth to that, and it could easily apply to "butterface" women (and men). A woman that isn't the best looking woman but has a slamming body may use her best asset to get a man/bf/husband. If she's great in the sack, willing to fulfill all his (whoever he may be) desires, maybe he'll stick around longer. Or she may dress provocatively, showing off her curves and body in order to attract a lover.

We all do that to some degree. Not much different than a guy with a little dick being a master pussy licker/eater. He knows he may not be able to fuck her hard and deep, so he'll make damn sure he eats her out like a champ. No different than a wealthy butterface or overweight dude that spoils his gf/wife with stuff. His money is his best asset so that's what he uses to his advantage. How else can anyone describe some ugly dude like Jeff Garcia dating hot Playboy bunnies.

My first exposure to butterfaces was the Howard Stern show. I always felt so horrible for the women in his Butterface Beauty Pageant. These poor women would come out in bikinis, smoking bodies, but with paper bags over their heads. The "panel" would say how hot their bodies were, until they took off the paper bags. Then the panel would gasp and torment them for being so ugly. Those poor women would be so down and out in life that they'd humiliate themselves just to win whatever monetary prize for "winning". And to win you'd have to have a great body but the ugliest face. How brutal.

Butterface fetish as liking a woman whose face isn't as "hot" as her body... yeah okay. If that's what turns you on, fine.

Butterface as a way to demean, ridicule, or humiliate a woman? Nah, that's just being an asshole.

I hadn't heard of 'butterface' until this thread - the phrase I was familiar with was BOBFOC - Body off Baywatch, Face off Crimewatch...

People make sweeping generalisations all the time, snap judgments, decisions based upon experience or desire - the OP is entitled to his "fetish" and who are we to judge? Sometimes I think that these phrases are really just abbreviations that help us to express how we feel, without having to go into great detail about what they are - for example, I might say that I like a guy who looks hispanic - you would know that in saying that, what I meant was tanned skin, dark eyes and hair, without me having to explain that fully. Or Nordic might be your thing - tall, fair, pale eyes - it doesn't mean that everyone looks that way, but we understand what they mean by that.

So, butterface/buthisface simply lets us know that the OP prefers someone with a great body, but a less attractive (to him) face - I do think that his initial example was rather extreme, but it certainly raised some hackles while getting his point across, didn't it? Maybe he has issues about his own looks - would be scared to "punch above his weight" looks wise - in making a choice for someone who would be considered less attractive than him, perhaps he thinks he would be guaranteeing her faithfulness to him - that she would be his and not stray, that no man would want her? Of course, I believe that DD has posted about this in some detail (and artiiculated it WAY better than I ever could) in other threads...

Sure, this thread descended into a bit of a mud-slinging match, which is a pity, because it's actually quite an interesting premise that could have (or perhaps still could) have led to an interesting and serious debate about the things we like...

It's not a fetish by any means, but to give you an example, I think it's adorable when people have their two top incisors a little lower than the rest (I don't mean like rabbit teeth or anything lol, that would be a fetish all on its own hahah) - just something that I notice and think is cute as fuck. Dimples, I LOVE dimples when someone smiles... Sooooo adorable!! And while neither of these things are necessary in a potential partner, I do notice them and like them....

Anyway, all I really have to add to the debate is, thank goodness we all have our own specific tastes - otherwise some of us would never find a partner...

Vive la difference!

Unresesved apologies for a comment I posted earlier, I have already edited out the offending line. I was guilty of reading to quickly and not taking the time to digest, something I have often criticized others for.

I agree entirely with Lafayettemister and Mazza posts above.

As they've said, and as I've said myself in a previous post, the term 'butterface' is not really derogatory on its own ; the way and the insistance with which it is used can be. In fact, it's not all pejorative. Sure, it denotes a girl with a mediocre face, but it's also employed to say she has a really hot body too. Chasing girls like this isn't any more superficial than loving girls with nice eyes, freckles or a particular hair color, in my opinion. We all have different traits we're attracted to.

We also all have features that we're proud of, and others that make us insecure (physically or else). Myself I have a rather 'hot/athletic' body, but I'm not really that tall either (5'9" or so). The term 'manlet' is often used to describe a guy like me, especially in the fitness/bodybuilding community. I've been called that a few times by friends and I didn't really take offense, although if it was used constantly just to mock me it could possibly annoy me or piss me off. It doesn't really take much to insult someone physically. Even a really hot bombshell could be denigrated with expressions such as 'dumb blonde' or 'brainless beauty'.

Concerning the 'doing a favor' dilemma, I think that both partners are doing each other a favor during consensual sex anyway ; both are offering their bodies for the other person to enjoy. It happened to me a few times that a woman craved me more than I craved her (chubby girl, older than me, etc.), but it wasn't only negative either. These women were still special to me, and I surely made them feel that way. Sometimes they were the ones who put emphasis on the fact that I was doing them a favor, and I must admit that it can be exciting and self-valuing. In those cases though, I tried to avoid appearing manipulative or vain, and simply acted generously. Nothing bad with doing someone else a favor, if it's appreciated.

It was a bit what happened to me once with a butterface (3.5/10 face or so). I don't have a particular 'butterface fetish', but I once met that girl at the supermaket, and although she had a hot body (imagine the picture below with a yellow shirt), she was constantly looking at me with sad eyes as if she was asking herself 'Is this guy going to like me?'. I really thought it was cute, and of course very erotic that a girl with such a hot body was giving me all that attention and acting nervous around me. It's rare for me to flirt with random strangers hoping to get laid, but this situation was hard to pass. We both enjoyed it, nothing wrong with any of it.

actually felix having been told all my life I have a beautiful face ....no it didn't

I got upset for the picture he posted of a woman with the facial deformity

not his fetish... only the way he said it

some people do value beauty over substance

having read all the posts

I do think even me did perhaps got upset over what is actually a very honest post

some men do value the body over anything else..perhaps some women

so maybe we all including MYSELF need to look within

we all can be a bit superficial at times

me I am a brain and humor snob

if you looked like Bradley Cooper and couldn't make me laugh I wouldn't give you the time of the day

so after reading all of this

perhaps I looked within..a bit..more
