I second Etta James and Edith Piaf. I would add Ella Fitzgerald.

Edit: I should have included Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse.

I saw Etta James twice...happiest and most joyful time of my life. I had very nice seats as well. She was a trooper. Telling dirty jokes and so full of life and very sensual...

I love Edith..and I love Patsy..but those lesser known songs.

I love to listen to La Vie En Rose in French first, then English.

sometimes it makes me cry.

(I'm less familiar with the other one.)

If I was bringing them back for music: Freddy Mercury.

For other purposes: I'd bring back Jim Morrison because his poetry is amazing (but I can't stand The Doors!!), he was hot, and I think he'd be interesting to spend time with.
