No, no, not what makes you write at the moment, and continue your character lines and ever evolving repertoire. Rather, that moment of spark and kindle that made you write your first poem, your first love poem, your first expression of who you are.

My first poem was inspired by heartbreak...I always thought poetry was a bit shit before then. The words just fell out of me. The first time I wrote any prose was inspired by the idea that I could do it. I heard the opening line in my head and the story wrote itself. The characters spoke to me.

I started writing stories when I was 7... I can't remember the initial motivation.

I had a strange incident with a friend, which was kind of mind-blowing, and it totally inspired me to write and brought me to Lush too...

I started writing stories a bit over two years ago to see if I could get on up on the "Hottest Fantasy" list on another site...it was sort of a challenge...
I thought that was when I started...

I was reminded not long ago, by my friend Joyce who added my on Facebook, that myself and my other FB friend Tom used to write poems about biology subjects back in high school, apparently for other's amusement...
I had forgot all about it, but she remembered...I think all the poems are lost for all eternity, which most likely is a good thing...but I do recall the opening lines of one poem I wrote called "Tap Root"...

"When the primary root grows big and strong,
Where secondary roots do not belong,"

You can understand why I'm kind of glad those poems got lost for all eternity...

It all started back in the third grade, I believe,,
It went a little something like this:
1. I will not chew gum in school.
2. I will not chew gum in school.
3. I will not chew gum in school.
The list went on, an on

I was in the fourth grade when my teacher asked us to write a poem about a color. I chose yellow to write about for some reason or another. I forgot how I started the poem. Ever since, I've been writing poems, then it evolved into short stories as an adolescent, and it continues to grow.

The Roommates Trilogy:

I had always loved reading and i was reading beyond my years. At 11 i was reading mills and boons and born identity etc. i felt that the books that were "age appropriate" were boring and i could write better stories so i did. lush stories are completely new to me though. 3some

Thanks guys and gals, love to hear the about the original impetus of one's need to express or the challenge.

For me, one day (was 13 or so) I was given an album, Exit Stage Left - Rush. On that album was a song "Xanadu." My pops always considered artistic endeavors "gay." Yes, the most brutal, disgusting form of that word. After finding out the song was inspired by a poem, Kubla Kahn - Samuel Taylor Coleridge, I became intrigued. I continued reading about poets, writers, and gay artists, and found out, those dudes were actually straight and some homosexual, and all were experiencing life without judgment. And then I learned about the "salons." My first introduction to them was when reading about the French Revolution and how peopled gathered, to share their works for educational or even naughty purposes. I love that mix.

Keep it coming.

I've had a love of reading from a young age so I guess that started it from there. My reading tastes actually haven't changed much from when I was younger, just now their aimed at adults instead of young people.

I suppose I started writing out of frustration with the books and stories I'd read. So often the writer didn't take the story in the direction I wanted them too and eventually I had to see one play out like I felt it should. Perhaps that makes me arrogant but that's how I felt.

Now I know two things. I can do it and its far more difficult then I thought.

It kinda just happened one day, about 8 years ago. I was sat there chatting to someone online, flirting away and then wrote a poem. It just flew from my fingertips and that was the start of it all. I never actually write any of my things on paper because I can't handwrite very well - my handwriting sucks donkey dick, so I'd scarcely be able to read it, well I could if I took my time but I get really excited when I'm writing and tend to write faster, making it even worse. But the poetry was completely spontaneous, just as it is now and I wouldn't want to change that. I love when I poem just comes to me and flies from my fingertips. It's almost like some muse is giving me a gift.

Pretty much about 3 or 4 years ago. Met a girl she had showed me some of her poetry and had been reading it on lush for a while kinda gave it a shot. I don't do a lot of writing more when the mood strikes me

I have been reading books since I was very young and I have always had a very vivid imagination. In school i always found it really easy to come up with different kinds of stories while my friends could not come up with anything, so i would share my ideas with them to get them started and sometimes even write them for them...

I have first started to put my thoughts on paper as an outlet. It was good and very satisfactory and it fulfilled the need. I kept on adding because it kept on feeling good.

I however, ended up getting more from it. It actually made me discover more about myself.

One huge (sigh) problem, I really do not write that good for others to read it.

I can wash my hands after I write it, but I also need to supply pain reliever to those who read it!

I was incredibly depressed and my coping method wasn't the best so it was suggested that I keep a diary, the hope was that by writing my feelings down I'd stop taking them out on myself. I wasn't sold on the idea so I started writing poems instead, it helped but they weren't really poems, I was just venting and attempting to make them sort of rhyme.

I eventually started the diary, it helped but it wasn't enough. I don't remember how I moved to writing stories but I've found that writing things as a story, rather than a diary entry, helps me to process my emotions better.

I've been involved in one form of the arts or another probably since the time I was first able to walk.

I loved writing as a kid and it was something to do on long trips to competitions etc. I was quite shy about showing people my writing, even though I was told by many teachers that I had a natural talent for it. Writing took a back burner to life, dance, career, relationships etc and I sort of 'rediscovered' my passion for it over the last 2-3 years as life has started to settle down for me. While I've written a lot of erotica, I've also been working on a non-erotic novel that is important to me as well, so it definitely hasn't always been about 'sex stories'.

As for the reason why I started writing? It's hard to say exactly, other than I've always felt compelled to express myself and the arts have always offered a variety of vehicles that have allowed me to do this.

I love reading and have a vivid imagination. It didn't take much for me to try to put the two together and try writing what I was imagining. I've been trying to write on and off since grade school.

My first Lush Stories poem is a competition entry!

I wrote my first poem in grade school, but never wrote much or often. I have written more on Lush in the past 4 months than I did in the past 40 years. Back then it was to impress a girl. I think that is still the same motivation today.

I have been writing since I was a kid that didn't know what I was saying! Since I figured out what it was that I was saying, I have written novels. What made me put pen to paper? It was just something I thought that I could do. In the long run I found that I could.
