We never have enough time to read every story published here, so what motivates you to click on a story and invest some time?

Personally, I read the opening lines seeking a mental image, if I see it, then I feel the story has potential to hold my interest.
I also look for a story with multiple comments and read them.

I typically read stories written by the authors I am following, my friends, and stories from the Editor's Pick selections to check out new talent. I know I'm missing a lot of talent along the way but with time limitations, I tend to default to the established authors whose writing style I already love.

As well, if I see someone making interesting and/or intelligent posts in the forum, I'll often be tempted into reading one of their stories.

I mostly read stories by my Lush friends who support and enjoy my work. I also read my own stories, which never fails to inspire me to write something new!

There are certain writers I always look for and then, I don't know, maybe the title or the avatar and user's name just appeals to me.

I love the 'Random Story' button, I've found some gems that way. I'll click it, see if the category takes my fancy and see if the first couple of lines are well enough written to hold my attention.

I also like to read my friends' stories when I can. I feel like it's polite.

I look in the categories I enjoy the most then look at the titles. Titles can sometimes leave a lot to the imagination. Then I will start reading it. If it doesn't keep my attention or interest, I will look for another one until I find one that can.

Well, basically I first go through the new stories for a while, looking if something sounds interesting. Then I look through the categories that interest me most or that just sound like they fit my current mood. I must admit though, that unless a description really gets my attention I mostly first look at stories with large counts of reads and ratings.

I choose them based on the categories of stories I like. And also the stories my friends have written :)

I tend to go for stories that have a well written introduction which grabs my attention. I don't mind novice written work as I can see some wonderful potential in budding authors and of course some of my friends stories.

1. Editor's picks.
2. Check on the most viewed or most voted story in my favorite category.
3. If I see a story I like, I check its author's profile, and read his/her other stories.

Most of the people on my firend list are writers who have published on her, and whoise work I like. So I look to see what they are reading/commenting on, and go to those stories. I occasionally search in the mature category, just to see if there is anythng new I haven't seen.

I find an author I like and then go into his or her profile to find other stories he or she has written. I also follow some authors, read stories recommended by my friends, check out the latest in my favorite category, and look for new editor's picks. Once in a while I'll read a random story I see on the front page.

I really don't search stories. I usually just read what my friends comment and vote on.

I have read thousands of stories on here, and know who is likely to write a story I'll be interested in. I have a non-visible author follow list of around 50 favourite authors.

Other than those, I go by the Editor's Picks, recommendations from friends, and then skim through the first few pages of the categories which I'm interested in.

Usually a paragraph from a good writer, is enough to hook you in to read the rest of the story.

I also use the most popular tabs a fair bit.

I wonder whose stories come up when you do that? Lol...

In the first 2 years, I read / skimmed almost every story submitted. After that, my brain started melting, and I really needed help to process the volume of stories that came in each day.

We now have a few dozen people who do a fantastic job of checking story submissions. On average, it takes less than a day to have a story processed here, which is a remarkable effort.

I look at who wrote the piece. Then scroll down to see in what catogory the story has been allocated to and then reaD the teaser and see if that grabs my attention. If it does, then I open and read and if good enough, I comment

I usually look at the people who post on the forums and if I find their posts interesting, I check their profiles to see if they have submitted any stories. If I like them, I follow them.

I have several friends who asked me to join here from other story sites and I follow their stories.

I like the way the main page has new stories and catagories and with the way you can read a short excerpt as well as the keywords, I will get an idea of the story and glance it over, then re read it if it is interesting or arousing for me.

I wish there were a way to mark stories I would like to read but don't have time to, so later I can go back.

Kisses!

I use a special folder of bookmarks in my browser for that. The problem is that the list gets longer and longer.

I look at the catagory it is classified as, the tags attached, and then read the first couple of lines to get a feel for the story. I will even read stories that in catagories I have zero interest in because I love a good story.

well I started by reading from category's of my interest, and then using the suggestions at end expanded into others until I started my account. from there I started read the stories of friends. how ever, if it doesn't grab me in first few paragraphs I move on. I don't always score them unless I really like it. not going to give low score just because it wasn't what I wanted. I especially like continued threads. I have list of who I follow but have come to not read them when new stories fome out unless it grabs me. however I have noticed some not writing any more. if you tickle my eye I will read

nothing beats a luscious kiss from well painted lips ;) mmmmmmmmm...........

The stories here are fantastic. We have some really good writers. I never have enough time to read the ones I want. I think a great headline helps and if I recognize the name of the writer as a friend.
