Ah the old "personal insults" excuse. Never mind how true it is, just use it as a convenient escape when you can't bring yourself to admit that your credibility is subzero.

Not an honest one in the bunch.

Since we're all slinging adjectives now...Pardon me for attempting to address two fucktards at once, it's not easily accomplished. This is a result of you inviting me to reply and get myself all read up. You two guys make shit up and present it as fact. I'll give you this one, Robin... http://science.howstuffworks.com/innovation/nasa-inventions/nasa-improve-solar-energy.htm

In fact, if you were really not the lazy blowhard I feel you are, you should've been able to find at least fifty examples of what good has come from the last 50 years of NASA achievement.

That goes double for you, 1Ball. But your agenda isn't about promoting truths, it's about proving how much you know...and since you get your spiel from Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney and the like - it's not even your own thoughts...but stupid shit you've heard or read before - uttered by other morons who have their own ColdWar Us vs. Them mentality to forward. We've seen this before, it's primarily called bullshit.

I had been a promoter of NASA since I was old enough to read and comprehend, I'm not saying they are a complete fraud or waste...but they were formed up on the backs of repatriated, smuggled-in NAZIs - look that up if you don't believe that last statement. Once I had my eyes opened about NASA...I read up on the operation. It sucks when something you believe in totally, crumbles to dust in front of your eyes because of its factual history.

NASA is a civilian front organization of a military tool. People in their historical organization did invent rocket science. They were mostly NAZIs who we smuggled into the USA via operation Paperclip. Murderers who you are defending and promoting. How's that make you feel?

Those last statements are truer than anything that's been stated in this thread.

I especially liked how you point Coops to Yale or Harvard to find some experts (then rail against your own advice in the same paragraph! LMFAO - priceless, dude.

Here's to your credibility, 1Ball. You don't pose questions, you make proclamations and add a question mark at the end after a single word. And that word is even incorrectly used. I can imagine what a conversation is *prolly like with you... you do all the talking, shouting, yelling.

Both of you have given me some shit eating grins the last few days. Thanks for that.

You're still afraid to provide honest and relevant answers to my questions. They are questions. They have the appropriate symbol at the end. Your belief that you can pick which questions you'll answer in a reasoned discussion (which so far has been none) is the delusion of a person who really isn't capable of a reasoned discussion. Hurl all the invective you want. It does nothing positive for your credibility. The fact that you're piling on so much of it, instead of answering the questions, shows your desperation. When you can commit to honesty and relevance, maybe I'll think you can contribute something meaningful to a think tank. Until then, you and nashinaz should probably look for a feel tank where you can emote together without being intellectually dishonest.

It doesn't bother me in the least that the US snapped up German rocket scientists after WWII. The USSR got some also. We needed their expertise for the same reason Hitler and Stalin did. It's poor strategy to cede the high ground to your enemies. We needed the ability to rain death from above and/or deny the enemy the same. The future of warfare included ballistic missiles. It also doesn't bother me at all that so much of what NASA did/does has military significance. The military is strategically and tactically important to foreign policy, just like NASA.

Harrison Schmitt is entitled to his opinion. Whether he's wrong or not is a matter of opinion and a factor of what would replace NASA in the arenas where NASA is relevant: space policy, pure research, applied science, etc. I'm happy to see commercial inroads into space. I hope to one day see NASA's role become similar to the FAA's. That won't change what they've accomplished for us though.

You should probably get used to questions from me. It's clear from your inability to reasonably address them that you aren't capable of participating in an intellectually honest discussion. Agreed?

Its future changes depending on whose ass is warming the big chair in the Oval Office. Its never been all about the science. The military almost got to take the lead, but I think the science angle and Eisenhower's moral objection to the joint military-congressional-industrial feeding trough tilted the scales. Then Kennedy made it a works program for Florida, Texas, Alabama and California. But I still think it was way better than letting the military have it.

@ WellMadMan,

Your first paragraph filled with shit-slinging insults will not be responded to further because it's just unnecessary.

Directed at me with your link defending NOAA as being respondible for all things weather satellite, you posted a link, did you read it? I found the following in the FIRST paragraph:

"Through the years, NOAA, with cooperation with NASA, has developed increasingly advanced satellites that have provided higher spatial and temporal resolution images, operational soundings."

It was hidden I plain sight. Here's a link about NASA tech going into the GOES-R satellite for tornado detection:

http://wtvr.com/2012/04/30/weather-nasa-satellite-technology-will-help-better-detect-tornadoes/

Once again; NASA builds It, NASA launches it. No NASA, no weather satellites. Got it? It's real simple.

As far as GPS goes:

"Thanks to a team of engineers from the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., spacecraft operating in weak-signal areas — such as geosynchronous orbits where communications and weather satellites typically operate — will be able to acquire and track the weak GPS signals to determine their locations, much like motorists who use GPS to determine where they are. For their work developing the Navigator GPS receiver, the Goddard team was nominated for the coveted NASA "Invention of the Year" award, a prize reserved for NASA employees who have secured patents for their inventions. An announcement is expected shortly."

You must have missed this one, it was hidden in the NASA website, here's the link!

http://www.nasa.gov/topics/technology/features/navigator-gps.html

You posted a link about food grown is space and scoffed at it as though you had proved you point... You made my point, the article even pointed out how growing food in space will purify the air!!!! That wasn't even in my article! Thanks buddy!!!

Then you go off on a rant about how NASA is filled with NAZI's, I guess we are to then marginalized all the accomplishments and benefits because it's all " fruit of the poisoned tree". My first year Poli-sci professor tried that same tactic with Thomas Jefferson because he own slaves so we should disregard that whole Constitution thing and grow up. I took him apart too so don't feel real bad.

The best part is when you snicker like a six year old at miss-spelling two words by saying I "chastised " someone for the same thing but I can't seem to find it in any post where I did.

In my defense, all of these posts come from my iPhone , so please, please show me some tolerance... You've heard that word before I'm sure.

And try to grow up some, could ya?

WMM,

Still waiting on the 5 benefits to mankind from the welfare programs 9 TRILLION spent with more people of the dole than ever and always the numbers have gone up.
No hypotheticals, no abstracts, no intangeables . Just 5

And you never asked for 50 NASA Benefits, that's why you got 5, that's what you asked for, that's all I asked of you but you seem to be stuck. Take you time, you can do it, just 5.

And one of your earlier post stated NASA's budget to be " TRILLIONS "
From 1958- 2008, 416 BILLION. Or less than 5 percent of the welfare budget from 1967-2004
Do the math.

Going back into history, we do find great bravery and fighting spirit shown by the Spartans too but they too failed miserably.
It is only for the history to determine and our short life is not sufficient to determine the course of evolution of humian society.
I would agree that sometimes it is helpful in moving human society forward but NOT ALWAYS.
So we better abide by the norms and laws set by the PRESENT society we living in.
But should keep our fingers crossed for a better evolving future for the mankind.

I don't think so, but that's irrelevant. Some extremism is called for and some isn't. Agreed?

I think it makes far more sense to carefully choose when to fly under the radar and when to openly oppose the status quo wherever slavery is part of the status quo. All through the reigns of Lenin and Stalin, capitalism flourished in the USSR. Huge amounts of state confiscated resources were spent in vain attempts to stamp out mutually agreeable trading between individuals. Without that individual defiance, far more people would have suffered from far greater deprivation.

You really live in your own little world don't you. Doesn't matter that what you say has nothing to do with what you said, and what your saying now has nothing to do with what you will say next. Just keep attacking someone's character, disregard what they say. Call them dirty names and claim ideolic victory. It's like arguing with a 5 year old. If I keep doing it soon no one will be able to tell the difference between us.

You might want to mix in some fact checking in your future post and not be so fast to jump someone's shit, you may not embarrass yourself...as much as you normally do.
I really love the post later where you blame 1-Ball for your moment of utter stOOpidity. That's CLASSIC!!!

I'm going to be laughing AT you for day's, WellMadeMan.

OMG! And I was thinking there was nothing left in the world that could surprise me anymore, let alone make me bust a gut that hard.

This quote of yours WellMadeMan was the absolute best. You wrote,and I quote;

"Gawd, you fucktards will stop at nothing while riding coat-tails as if you know something the rest of us don't. You really don't have clue fucking one, do you?"

LOLOLOLOL......Take you're own advice and max out that Visa card, get a clue of you're own.

Are you the love child of Rosanne Barr and Joe Biden? You say the same embarrassing things they do so I was just wondering.

Made my whole freakin week. LOL

The Never A Straight Answer team refuses to entertain real science...as indicated within this video. We're stuck with these guys & their ideas...as well as their 'proof' they release (working in conjunction with Malin Space Science Systems)

It's my fault that your computer is lacking the appropriate Adobe flash player upgrade to watch youtube videos? Or that you're utilizing a cathode ray tube and/or don't own a video card manufactured after the year 2003.

Maybe you should shelve Windows95 and move into this century?

dontknow

Why shouldn't we explore the universe more, maybe one day we will find a new planet where people can move to get away from a ever growing population.
