If I have a fantasy about great sex with an imaginary (or even real) girl, is that cheating?

It depends on whether or not you have a life partner and how they feel about it.
Some people feel that emotional cheating is just as bad a physical cheating.

Of course not.

Unless you're dumb enough to tell her about the fantasies- then there's that.

But otherwise, call them your gift to yourself- nobody can take them away.

Totally depends on how your partner defines cheating

No way I think only an insecure person would consider that cheating and if that is considered cheating then the entire world is a big bunch of cheaters! lol

Good Lord, I hope not! If it is, then my husband and I have both been cheating for a long time, all while remaining monogamous with one another.

Ladyx, have a free biscuit. My avatar was in Ronin, I was not sad He just happens to look a lot like me, one of these days I must sort out a decent digital picture of myself, but I have no clue about photography!

My wife and I both have fantasies yet have remained (physically at least) faithful for the last 25 years. I just wondered about people's take on this.

Fantasies are not cheating.

If you think your significant other would be bothered by your fantasies, then keep them to yourself.

Although it's hard to imagine someone that would think it's emotional cheating to fantasize about having sex with the girl in Playboy or the porn video or the girl that works at Starbucks. I've always seen emotional cheating as something that requires you to actually know the other person and form a bond (although it may not involve sex).

Fantasies are harmless fun...

Well if fantasy is cheating, then every person on the face of this earth is cheating.

Well, the other morning as hubby and I woke up, we were both coming out of the deep sleep and as it happens we were both sort of playing with ourselves. As I realized he was doing the same thing, I gave him a grin and we just kept at it, finishing just a minute or two apart. We didn't say a word, we just got up, took a shower together where we kissed and caressed each other a bit with silly grins on our faces and as we walked downstairs with the baby in my arms he looked up and said "Keri Russell" and I said "Jon Bon Jovi" and we just dissolved into gales of laughter. It's not cheating, it's a normal fantasy/masturbation thing. If he didn't even think about another woman once in awhile, I'd be very worried. After all, my grandmother said she knew that's when my grandfather was dying, when in the hospital he didn't even notice the beautiful nurse or make a comment.

I think not! Why, how would we as humans get along without the occasional sensual/sexy/hot fantasy coming to mind? I know my man has his and I have mine... we've never strayed from one another in 17 years, but in fantasy land...that's not considered cheating in my book smile.

It's a totally healthy thing to do, fantasizing, just as I feel that self-pleasure/masturbation, whatever one prefers to call it, is a healthy outlet as well...and just tell me this; When you're masturbating is your mind totally blank and void of certain mental imagery or thoughts?? Mmhmm, that's what I thought!

So carry on with those delicious thoughts folks!

Fantasising about another, be they real or fictional, does not constitute cheating - in fact it could, and would, only enhance the dying passion in a seemingly boring relationship. And although "cheating" in a relationship would mean doing something untoward without the other's knowledge ...the mind is an almost uncontrollable aphrodisiac and should, and could be used positively to rekindle any lost passion. It is only when one's "fantasy" is secretly made into reality that it becomes "cheating" ...but that's just my take on it.

Everyone fantasizes, some people just lie about it. I fantasize about every woman i see, meet or talk to. I'm sure every woman I've every been involved with has fantasized about other men while she was me. People are sexual. We want to have sex with other people. We think about it. We like thinking about it. I like for the woman I'm with to have a rich fantasy life. The richer the better in fact. I'm the beneficiary of her fantasies just as she's the beneficiary of mine.

Thanks for all the responses, General consensus seems to be no. I guess that some people might feel the need to hide their fantasies from their partner, but that's an entirely different question I suppose.

The best person to fantasize about is your partner; then you have a chance of making them real.

In my simple opinion, no way. Everyone is allowed to fantasise.

We would never try to better ourselfs otherwise, be it sexually, or in any other matter of life.
