That is an interesting question. I would postulate that the answer depends on why you have this desire. My guess though is that you have some bi-curiosity.

Its certainly nothing to be ashamed of, I see it as sexual freedom to be comfortable enough to do it, go for it, you may never look back. I have never had quite this kind of feeling, but I understand it is far from rare. Why would it 'being gay' concern you over-much? You are what you are and have no more control over your feelings than having blue eyes, for instance.
What I will say, and I have had an awful lot of experience in more than sixty-five years, is that, in general, we regret the things we don't do. I've never had the desire and I've always had a hangup about anyone knowing I masturbate. I would guess it is a desire to share something sexual with men, so therefore homoerotic desires or tendencies, but not necessarily exclusively.

Nothing personal (actually it's more a gripe of mine with society) but why do people feel the need to attach labels to things? In this case I'd say it was curiosity, not necessarily bi-curiosity but just normal curiosity towards the unknown. It doesn't have to be labelled or lead to anything and as long as everyone involved is consenting and down (or perhaps, in this situation, up) with it, there's really no need to fret or attach, in my opinion, insignificant labels to things. From what I was able to gather, the initial thought came when you were a teenager, which is a very normal part of growing up. Since the thought stayed with you, I would say that it crosses over into bicuriousity at least. You do sound like you're mostly straight except for this one desire, however.
The main thought to consider is the fact that sexuality is very hard to determine. Sure, we can say that the man who only wants to sleep with other men is gay, and the man who only wants to be with women is straight. But only you can determine what your sexuality is. I identify as bicurious because that's the best way that I can describe my feelings.
