i completely agree about time he redeemed himself. i have to watch this series online cause of the country situation, and have only watch this session but the way the characters are made to act is what got me addicted to this show...you see the good the bad the evil....so many layers to each.

The conclusion last night with Maggie and her separated bff/lost love Micheel (sorry if i misspelled her name) well.....complete tear jerker.

my newest :)

To your last post about the governor, from what I've rea about the book it ends a bit different but I don't think he'll be back. I assume he left dodge, he's not that stupid to go after a more skilled group with two men. I thought something else was gonna happen in the last episode but I was wrong.

As for Carl, Hershel said drop your gun, I'd listen to the old guy and drop it. instead he leaned out handing it. It looked like he was trying to get closer, I dont like it but Carl didn't do anything wrong, just playing it really safe. If you said drop the gun to the governor and he put it out in his hand and said take it with that look and smile of his; would you? No, I'd put him down. Carls losing the idea theres good in people. He dropped ricks badge at the end because he doesn't believe in giving everyone a fair chance. He's going down the do what you gotta do road, whether it's right or wrong. He was just looking out for the group in the way he thought was right, it doesn't make it right but it doesn't make him evil. There's not much room for interpretation in "drop you gun". I'd do the same thing as Carl, but I would have given that kid another warning though. I didn't notice him getting cynical until they found carols daughter in the barn.
If Carl goes down the only thing standing between Judith and a shotgun is the crippled old guy. I don't like those odds lol.

I do think they left it purposely ambiguous with the young boy sort of trying to hand over the gun rather than just dropping it. Killing the boy wasn't that big a deal, considering he would have been gunned down by the governor anyway. And really - it's not that different than the scene where Rick left that poor backpacker begging for help on the side of the road who ended up becoming zombie road-kill a few hours later. I thought that was pretty cold too, on a similar level. But based on Carl's age and everything he's gone through, they need to keep an eye on him. I mean he's arguably suffered way more calamities than Rick based on having to put down both his mom and shane. Carl always seems to get lost in the shuffle somehow because he's trying to be all stoic about his emotions and losses.

I just feel like he acts a bit reckless sometimes (although this likely is also attributed to him being a kid in a hyper-grown-up environment). He was always disappearing at the farm (Lori always seemed to lose track of him). He played around with that prisoner teenager tied up in the barn, he took a gun and went off in the woods and taunted the walker that later broke out of the mud and killed Dale (he should have told someone about that) and that latest bit where he rushed off from Michonne to retrieve that photo from the tavern. Luckily she caught up to him and decided to help him out on what would have ended in disaster for him otherwise. He's a complicated kid and I can understand why, but I think he needs more guidance and attention because he could easily become more like Shane or the Governor in outlook.

Having said that - the Governor is a great 'evil character' so I can't see them abandoning him. He adds a certain enjoyable tension to the show. I haven't read the comics so I don't know his ultimate fate as a character, but I don't think they're following the blueprint with it that much anyway.

I'm still sad they killed off Andrea. She was such an interesting character. I don't know if they plan to develop Carol's character more next season, but she's always felt like dead weight to me. I would have much rather seen that character go than Andrea's.

Best scene of the series so far: When the little girl, Sophia, zombified came out of the barn and everyone who was so hardcore stared horrified and Rick had to finish the job. It was heartbreaking and character building.

Everyone is getting colder. Carl is super hardcore now, but not in an awesome way. I love the book, but they have been truly brilliant with the show. It's just different enough that readers don't know exactly whats next.

Fave character: Rick, of course. Least Fave: Andrea, she sucked until the last couple episodes and it was her bullheaded attitude that got her killed. She may have wanted to save people, but she also didn't want anyone thinking her to weak and would really push if she felt she was underestimated. GOT HER KILLED.

If it all came down to it and only one character could be left standing, who is it: Michonne. Cold blooded ninja of the zombie apocalypse.

We LOVE The Walking Dead series! It's one of the best shows on tv (and I don't even like zombies!). Great storyline, characters are well-developed. We look forward to every episode. I'm not a horror fan AT ALL, but this series is different. You can get so engrossed in the story that you forget there even are zombies at times. My teenager was watching a marathon (before AMC was pulled on Dish) several months ago, and I happened to walk past the tv, got interested in the dialogue, and wound up watching the entire series up to that point. Been hooked ever since. It's that good.

Who's your favourite and least favourite character?
- Shane was my fav until they killed him!

Most memorable scene?
- Hmm there's loads but to pick one, it's probably where Merle was killed (again) by his brother. It was quite emotional.

Scariest or most shocking moment?
- None of it is really that shocking but it was a 'wow' moment when Dale got his stomach pushed in !

Favourite season?
- Season 2. Season 3 was strong to start but wnet downhill. Season 2 had such a great second half.

How awesome is The Walking Dead?! It's like digital crack. The whole time, I'm constantly thinking, what would I do? I just love it.

My favourite character is Darryl. Gotta love those mountain folk when they're working for you.

Lori's the one I'd stab in the brain, even if there wasn't a zombie apocalypse. What a fucking mole!

My most memorable scene was when Shane and that guy from the farm were trapped in the school, and Shane shot him in the leg so he could get away. Such a cunt move.

The most shocking moment for me was probably when the Governor went bat shit crazy and shot his own people after the failed raid on the prison. It totally caught me off guard.

And my favourite season has to be Season 4. Just like the best episode is the next episode. I need it more than air!

Hope it's good. Season 3 had a disappointing ending.

Breaking Bad has been there for me in the meantime.

Hmmm. Was it just me, or was that a bit of a slow start to the season? Sure, it was good and everything, but I was hoping for a real barn burner.

I might have let my expectations run away with me a bit.

I had the feeling that bat shit crazy Irish bird was up to something, but to be honest, I wasn't expecting a walker in a sack. I would have liked to have seen that go a different way. What does everyone else think?

And how much of a muck do you think that kid who dropped in the shower is going to cause?

Ooo, I can't wait for next Monday...

I had the same immediate reaction to you and then was like wait - slow down - they did a great job of setting up all the storylines, threads and themes to come. They had to have a cohesive slow-burn start to things to establish the calm before the storm. I believe the writers treat every season the way a story/novel would be set up - this is just the beginning - laying down the groundwork. I appreciated the opener far more, once I stepped back from things and saw the big picture.

I have heard that episode-2 is HUGE though and that things get intense fast from there. I'm guessing a main character death might be in the works. That Harry Potter Walker is definitely going to get someone, especially given that it's night and everyone at the prison is asleep. I think the bigger issue is that before he turned, he coughed up the fucking plague all over their water system so people are going to get sick and looks like they'll be dropping pretty quickly as the fatality rate at first onset of illness looks like half a day max. Scary.

Re the Irish woman - I kind of liked her in the beginning, especially since they were introducing all these new cast members - I figured she would be one of them. Honestly, my immediate impression was - oh, if you cleaned her up, she'd be quite pretty as a new cast member... maybe a future love interest for Rick?... This is all about Rick showing how he's now becoming inclusive of newcomers and has gotten back in touch with his sense of humanity again... I liked her accent. And then she went crazy. Oh well. :(

I heard they are bringing in some major characters from the comic books this season as well (Abraham, some doctor, and few others I didn't recognize, since I haven't actually read the comics). Sounds like they're fleshing out the cast of key players. I hope this doesn't mean they're going to be killing off certain other characters though. I do think that Rick and Daryl are core to the show - everyone else is reasonably expendable - but damn, I hope the writers know better than to mess with the idea of losing either of those two.

When Michonne tortures the Governor, including nailing his dick to a wooden plank, when Glenn gets brained by Negan, Carl shooting Shane through the throat.
Whoops, those all happen in the comics and are a bit ahead of the TV show.

Yeah, you make a good point about the build up, Doll, as always. They really eased us out of last season's finale. They almost could have ended the series there. They certainly had a lot of work to do to rev up this season. That was evident in the slow burn this week too.

We're only just getting into it. Damn it! I'm gagging for some instant gratification.

Any thoughts on who's sabotaging the group? Surely it's one of the newcomers baiting the walkers by the fence line. Then again, I can't help but think Carol might have gone bat shit crazy enough to do something like that. I mean, the way she's fucking up those kids...

Then again, I think that little shit, Carl, is becoming enough of a psychopath to do something like that. Especially getting rid of the sick survivors in quarantine. I just don't trust him. Rick should have put him over his knee back in Season 1.

What do you think?

How good was last night's episode?

That was definitely The Walking Dead I've come to love. I was beside myself when they ploughed into that massive herd of walkers. That was real edge of the seat stuff there. I'm not holding out much hope for that big guy, but I really want him to miraculously get through it. He's charged up my favourites list so quickly, he better bloody stay there.

And how about Carol? I knew she'd snapped her biscuit. I can't wait to find out how much of a liability she's going to become before they do something about her.

On a bit of a tangent, I just found out today that the actor playing Rick is really British. He was the guy obsessed with Keira Nightley in Love Actually. I know it's stupid, but I have a lot more respect for his character now. It was certainly good to see him strap on a pair and lay into the big guy. I felt it was more of agenuine response than all the whining he's been doing lately.

I love that they made Carol go off the rails. You could kind of see it coming with her Ginsu-Training School Program and general no-nonsense outlook this season. I sense her thinking will have been that she was protecting the children (and those kids that she swore to take care of when the Dad died) and she'll say that after seeing what happened that morning at the prison, she knew the prognosis was grim and she was doing what she had to do to protect the group and keep her word to that Dad about protecting his kids as though they were her own. She probably still carries some guilt about not doing enough to save Sophia. I mean personally - when I saw Sophia first run off into the woods being chased by walkers, I was surprised she remained on the road. First instinct for me would be to run off after her into the woods. I wouldn't care if it might seal my fate, I would not be cool with just moaning and groaning about it by the roadside. I wouldn't be able to take the passive approach in a situation like that.

I've seen some interviews with the actor that plays Rick and I was also initially shocked by his English accent. He does the American one so well - another testament to his acting abilities. I'm also happy to see him get out of this whole 'peaceful farmer' mentality. It was a good break for him though - his character probably needed that refresh - but now it's time to get back down to business. Kickass Rick is way more fun. :)

PS. They better not kill Glen! I do suspect Hershel's days are numbered though after his moving opus-like speech. It never bodes well for a character to be given screen time to summarize their outlook on the world order in such a way (ie. reminded me of Dale's speech before they killed him off).

I've been waiting and watching it on netflix, the whole series at a time. I can never remember to watch during the week so miss shows and then it screws up the whole show, so I wait untill it's on Netflix then watch the whole series in one or two settings, Love it and don't know why I do, just different I guess, also do the same with breaking bad, a great show never thought I'd rut for a drug dealer. waiting for the last season to get on Netflix. 7.99 a month and I watch all my old movies too, as soon as college football is done, I'm going to cut dish back to the very basic's as 95.00 a month is too much, when most of it is pure garbage and I mean the news, what happened to news reporting, all I see is the fatass crooked people in Washington saying they didn't know what was happening, wish the walking dead would make a trip down there, and clean house ha ha lol.

Lauren Cohen the woman who plays Maggie is British and also the man who plays Morgan is British.

The only person I need to die this season is Martinez. My friends and I have a pool going called the dead pool. Whichever of our characters die, we win money for it.

Oh yeah, I agree that it's good intentions from Tough Love Carol, but she's definitely out of control. They need to get that sorted quick smart.

I'm with you, Doll, if Sophia was my kid, I'd be straight into the bush after her too. But I do distinctly remember sitting there watching it a couple of seasons back, thinking they should just cut her loose and move on. Greater good and all that.

Case in point, I would have killed Merle on that roof in Atlanta in a heartbeat for being so reckless, firing his weapon and drawing in the walkers. It was such a destructive lack of discipline. I probably would have dropped Shane a lot sooner too. I don't know that I'd be passing Rick's 3 Question test. Nothing like a zombie apocalypse to give you an excuse to clean house.

And I don't know about Glen at the moment. I really liked him in the early seasons, back when he was a bit of fun. But for me, he's become too dark and moody for my liking. I'm sure the tea and/or the animal medicine will save him. He just better cheer the fuck up though. He's starting to harsh my mellow, man.

I agree, he's been rather morose since that episode with Maggie and the Governor. One thing that totally threw me for a loop this season is why on earth Maggie would want to get pregnant and have a baby. In a zombie apocalypse. In a prison. After you had to saw open another woman to deliver a baby and then she died. (!!!). Like seriously! I get the whole "we have to live and have a bit of fun" philosophy, but it's the most insane idea I've ever heard. They're usually a very pragmatic couple, so that seemed really out of left field. If Glen dies, then I think Maggie should hook up with Daryl. I'm not a big fan of the Daryl/Carol idea - there's zero chemistry between them. Also, the new Carol is a bit unstable and ruthless compared to Daryl's softer approach to life and ethics. She would totally be wearing the pants in that relationship.

Oh, no way. Maggie's way too much of a ballbuster for Daryl. You're definitely right about Carol though - no chemistry and now too crazy.

I actually like Beth for Daryl. Sure, she needs to knock it off with the singing, but she's still got that softness that I think would balance his character nicely. They're apparently going to step her up this season, but I fear with all the fussing over the baby, she might fall ass backwards into something with Rick.

Yeah, Maggie's out of her mind pushing for a baby of her own. Sure, at some point you just have to get on with life, but you have to make sure you've got somewhere safe to live, with food, clean water, and you know, no deadly plague. Still, I don't think there'll be any telling her.

Spectacular series! I've always thought the show is more about human nature and what manifests when people are forced into extreme situations. The zombies are just the catalyst.

I actually think Michonne and Daryl are going to hook up. Two fellow warriors who get each other. Signs of it were evident in the last episode when Daryl pointed out to her that he noticed when she was gone and on the hunt for the Govenor. Also, being concerned for her safety when she wanted to go on the antibiotic run. We'll see.

Hershel was a stud in the last episode caring for the sick and he may now be infected when he got coughed on by the doctor. And I am sick that Glen is infected. He is such a quiet and unassuming soldier. Always in the mix of things and never whining.

Most hated character: hands down, Andrea. Couldn't stand her! Almost was giddy when she got bit on the shoulder in the Governor's torture room. Always pretending she was tough as nails but always gravitating to people who could take care of her; Shane, Michonne, the Govenor.

Favorite character: wow... tough one. I'll have to pick Daryl. Superstud! Also because he was in BoonDock Saints.

Fuck, hey?

Man, what Rick did to Carol was stone cold. I don't even know that I would have done that. What do you think, did he do the right thing? What consequences is that going to have?

And it was such a shame about that new girl in the greenhouse. First the Irish bird, now her. They've got to stop killing off the nice girls so soon. Or at least give Beth some more non-singing screen time.

I'm just gobsmacked after that episode.

That was actually a really brilliantly written episode. In retrospect, I could see the undercurrents leading to Rick's ultimate decision but I still couldn't believe he actually did it. I think one of the final turning points was in the house where he was telling the hipster girl that her leg was fucked up and it was a bad idea for her to be out and about because she didn't have full mobility and Carol was like - oh no, she'll be fine - it'll help us more if everyone is looking. And then Rick just kind of gave her 'that look' - especially as she started asserting herself and talking over him. It was like hey, it serves us best to have her out there looking, rather than thinking about what was the smartest decision for the girl's safety.

Everything in that episode showed us that Rick has regained his sense of humanity and Carol has gone pretty stone cold (did you hear her talk about Sophia and how being her mom feels like someone else's life and she doesn't think about it anymore?). I mean, granted - we saw Rick lose his mind a few times in seasons past, but I can kind of see his angle when it comes to Carol.

1. If Carl or Judith were bitten or got sick randomly, would Carol even give him time to say goodbye properly or make amends before finishing them off? She seems to not even hold her dead daughter in her heart anymore. There is no emotional component to her outlook anymore and they are still technically a 'community'.

2. She made a decision to impose the death sentence on two of their own without consulting anyone else. She decides and acts - that could be a dangerous precedent.

3. If he brings Carol back and he tells Tyreese the truth, the camp will be divided on what happens next (IF Carol survives Tyrese's wrath, that is) and a fracture in the group would be bad news at this stage. It'll be interesting to see what happens when he explains everything that happened - I suspect there will be a lot of mixed reactions. On the other hand, everyone in the group has pretty much condemned the actions of whoever killed Karen and the other sick dude, so maybe not.

If I was Rick, I would kind of lay down the law with her and ultimately give her a second chance. Kind of like a 'you're on parole' type situation where one more fuck up could mean being outcast - but I think he reacted in an extreme way. He's already evolved past the whole "cold and unemotional" stage in dealing with the stresses of the world - but at times, he also gunned down potential newbies, left that jogger/hitchhiker on the side of the road, his son shot that unarmed teenager after the governor's raid. It's not like he's been 100% saint the entire time. I think it was partly Carol's lack of remorse or inability to concede that maybe she did the wrong thing or reacted too quickly that made him feel like she was already too far gone. Honestly, out of everything she's said and done so far - that comment about Sophia was the one that shocked me the most.

And yeah, I was also sad that they killed the poor girl with the wonky leg (and assumably her boyfriend). They actually seemed like fun characters. :(

Yeah, I think I'm with you, Doll. I would have given Carol one last chance if it was me. It's not like she was the first to act without consulting the group, even though what she did was so extreme. Turfing her out like that...just doesn't sit right with me.

While the others seem okay with it so far, I don't know how Daryl's going to take the news. I can't help but think he's going to take off after Carol. I can't see him going with the flow.

I thought Glen was done like a dinner there for a bit. They really rode the tension well on that one. The edging aside, I'm glad they got to him in time. Hopefully he'll put a smile back on his face with his new found lease on life.

And that Governor, hey? I think we've found who's been baiting the walkers by the fence. What a fucking psycho! I know we need an evil villain, but seriously, time to let it go, man.

There's just too much going on. I'm over-stimulated!
