I don't think it is really specifically the face, though that is often the reality. I think it's really more the idea that our orgasm is so amazing for both of us that I, the male, want to cover the female from head to toe in it and that the female wants to be completely covered in it. I do think it is partially an impression given by porn, but I also think it has to do with power and seeing the woman's face as you cum.... both tend to be very erotic.
