I don't post my pics on here, and few on Lush actually know what I look like, and I'd like to keep it that way.
However, I would assume people posts pics of themselves for plenty of reasons. Some post them simply because they can. Some do in fact do it for a confidence boost, and there's nothing wrong with that. No one ever gets tired of being told how pretty they are. Some do it for attention...again, nothing wrong with that. We all like a little attention every now and then. Some people choose to post representations of themselves without compromising who they are, which is fine. This could include art work, quotes, or pictures of them from certain angles without showing their faces.
Some people posts pics or body parts of others and pretend it's them.They live vicariously through that person and accept the compliments as their own, and I guess that boosts confidence as well. This is a concept I've never quite been able to wrap my mind around, but to each his own. Lush is just a great fantasy for people, after all. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone or go too far, I don't really care. It used to peeve me, but not anymore. Usually when I see fake pics, I keep it to myself. Most people already know anyways, and outing them would only serve to make you look like a giant fart, and not the person you're outing.

My confidence is high because I can use words to satisfy a partner here. If you're chatting, it should be a requirement more or less, right? It took a year before I finally posted a "real" pic of me. (Sometimes family and employment concerns are issues on sites like this.) The funny thing is, just b/c you've posted one pic - or a slew of them - doesn't mean it's you. I have heard of fakes here that use pics of ex-gf's or wives and post them, too. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize this.
