I'm changing my computer in a couple of days, and it will be in the hands of strangers. At the moment my password is entered automatically, can that be altered so that I have to manually enter it when I log on?

Deleting cookies on your current computer should do the trick.

Usually when you log in from a site from a new computer, it'll ask you if you want to save the log-in info (username/password) for that site. You can click 'never for this site' or whatever the wording may be for that particular browser.
As for passing your computer off to strangers, just clear all the history and everything else from all the browsers you use. Remove anything you've installed manually, and restore the computer to factory settings.
If there's a user account on your computer, remove it, or default the name to 'owner'.
