I was just wondering if this was a bug. If you hit popular stories for this month nothing shows. Is this a bug?

I would say that no it is not a bug; it's only 9 days in and more than likely the threshold for this option hasn't been met just yet. I am not certain, but that is a logical conclusion.
Well it was showing yesterday. There were four or five pages.

Yes, but since there have been changes to the site; Gav has been tinkering. I say give it time and it should show again. If it doesn't I'll make sure that our tech guru has a look see.

It has been deemed fairer if the top authors, stories and poems were taken over a rolling 31 days rather than a calendar month. It is quite easy to gain these lists during the first few days of the month.
