No Porn?

I've heard/read about this 'no porn' practice at times, where men forbid themselves from watching porn and masturbating to it.

According to some, this can have a few positive consequences such as an increased motivation to seek real sexual partners, having more free time to do constructive things, having better testosterone levels and athletic performances for those who engage into sports, etc.

Have you ever tried it yourself, even for a brief period of time?

Was it hard to maintain this habit? Any interesting benefit(s) to report?

Back in October this year, people were doing a thing where they would stop Smoking or Drinking and it was known as Stoptober but seeing as I do neither I decided to stop masturbating. Not for any particular reason, I just wanted to see if I could do it.

The first few days were hard not to look at porn but it got easier as the time went on... One thing I was not prepared for though was the amount of erections I was having towards the end of the month. It felt like 90% of the time I had an erection lol!

Unfortunately, I didn't really see any benefits to come from it apart from there was a whole new load of stories and videos for me to look at when i got back haha!

I was virtually porn free from my mid 20's to my mid 40's. I can't say that I gave it up, I just didn't have much time for it.

Never tried it, can't really see the benefit in it. On the flip side they say regular masturbation is good for the prostate so I think I'll stick to watching porn :-)

I rarely watch porn anyway much prefer to read erotic stories.

I don't consume a lot of porn anymore. I can enjoy a good porno and get off to it, but circumstances mean that I rarely get to access it and, frankly, I don't miss it. My own imagination does a pretty good job when I need some stimulation.

Definitely prefer roleplaying and/or reading stories to porn, it can be fun at times, but typically isn't as much of a draw.

Interesting question. I have enjoyed watching porn throughout my life but enjoy reading erotic stories more. In addition, my ex-wife and I engaged in several years of experimentation. Now, I think there is a negative impact from watching porn, reading erotic stories, and living out many fantasies. Right now, I'm dating again and find that simple sex with a woman is not as exciting and fulfilling anymore. Sadly, the bar for what turns me on now is so high that normal relations can't compete. I am starting to believe that I will need to find a woman who shares this interest with me and wants to keep exploring sexuality and pushing the envelope. I don't know if one can go back.

I have tried many times to go no porn and no masturbation. For me it wasn't for the so called benefits but because i believe that God wants me to not be lusting after women. But to be honest i haven't been anywhere near successful at it. I am ok for the first few days and maybe a week but after that i swear i actually get hornier the longer i don't watch/masturbate.
So yes i have tried it and tbh i haven't lasted longer than probably 2 1/2 weeks as i don't have the self control to last longer than that.
Heck yes it was hard to maintain.
Possibly yes i did have more time to do constructive things but other than time management i can't say i have seen anything positive about it.

I’ve stopped for 3 or 4 days. Plus side I get hornier and I cum more strongly/quantity. Downside I get frustrated even though I’m having regular sex 2 or 3 times a week. I guess I’m a very horny man, always have been, always will be.

I do abstain for periods, sometimes a few months. It’s like most drugs, overexposure lessens the effects and increases reliance.

I accept my sexuality as it is, and that includes my enjoyment of porn. No guilt, no cognitive dissonance, no futile attempts to wean myself off it.
