Is bukkake a total turn-off for most/all women, even as a fantasy?

After months of meticulous planning, I'm finally ready to start work on my first book. However...one chapter contains a bukkake scene, which I'm really not sure about. One ex-girlfriend told me that although she'd never even contemplate it in reality, the fantasy was a real turn on for her. So...what do other women think? I'm hoping for the book to appeal to both men and women, but I'm worried that a bukkake scene would put a lot of women off. I really don't want to take it out, because although it's only one scene among many, it's pretty integral to the early plot, and an important, pivotal moment for two of the main characters and their relationship together.

However, if a bukkake scene is going to alienate a significant number, or even the vast majority of women, then it'll obviously have to go.

Any feedback on the subject would be much appreciated, even if it's a resounding "no, get rid of it!" from everyone! Although my ex certainly liked the outline of the scene when I showed it to her, I'm far from convinced that many other women would!

It's a turn off for me but, still, my recommendation is don't get rid of it.

For what you say, that's an important and relevant scene. I think we all have read books, books we love, that have a few scenes that make us a little uncomfortable. And we still read and enjoy them.

I'm sure there will be lots of men and women that will be turned on by that scene. Others will feel a little uncomfortable. But if, as you say, it's an important scene, it will make the whole story better and all the readers will appreciate it.

Thanks. Come to think of it, I have myself read - and loved - books with the occasional scene that I really didn't like. One author I particularly like tends to write the occasional scene where women are initially unwillingly forced into certain acts - lesbian sex, spanking etc - but, of course, end up loving it. It's far too close to for my liking, but I do like the books, and I suppose enough people like those scenes for the writer to keep including them.

I agree, leave it in. Even though it's not something I'd ever do in reality, it does make for a hot fantasy!

Just a few thoughts really.

The particular act of bukkake is for some a shocking prospect. So too are many other sexual practices described here. Is it so much worse, for example, than being peed on?
But why is that? Perhaps it is to do with learned behaviour. We learn as very young babies that faeces are to be avoided, revolting nasty etc. But very early in life there is a phase when a very young human baby will eat it. Maybe similar taboos are learned about this.

Maybe the act, for the person on the receiving end is about submission. Or is it about disinhibition, abandonment or something else. What is the significance for the other participants, domination, control, humiliation?

Without knowing the precise context it isn't possible to say what if anything this scene brings to your book. I think you consider it integral to the plot.
Would you feel the same about a whipping or a caning if it were there for similar literary reasons? I guess not...but the arguments are possibly the same.

Surely though, on principle you should never leave something out just because someone else might be offended. After all this is a place where we can get away with writing things that a great many people with a more constricted view on the world would be outraged beyond reason.

And finally your question is being posed as it is in response to an anxiety that some WOMEN might be offended. For that matter, there may well be some men who would as well. There is no gender monopoly on outrage or offence. With all due respect, that perspective is mere political correctness, given that there is so much else freely written about and applauded on this site by women that to single this out is to be inconsistent at best.

It sounds as though you should leave it in.

My goal as an erotica author is to take people who claim they wouldn't like __ or __ and turn them on to it anyway when they read.

If it's questionable - I endeavor to ensure it's the sexiest, hottest thing written since Eve first sucked off Adam.

I myself think it is not something I would like done to me. However, I love to write about it. I find it so carnal and wild and primitive.

This type of behavior is really only meant for a gang bang I would think. Again, not something I would ever want to be involved with.

For writing purposes, it's fun to think about. Only think though....

Writing is a different process for each person, but often, it is like the sculptor, freeing a sculpture from the stone imprisoning it. Stories often write themselves. Characters come alive, and we as writers are sometimes shocked by what our characters do in the contexts we create. Whether we should try to rein them in, or let them live, free of our inner principles and sensibilities, is always the struggle for an author. If you trust your characters, leave the scene as it evolved.

Bukkake is offensive to many, as it is perceived as degrading and humiliating to women, but there are many widely popular sexual acts which can be construed in the same way... most of BDSM, but still, even some women get off on things most would consider humiliating or degrading. It has been said that there is no dignity in love or sex. This is especially true in sexual fiction, so let your story evolve naturally, wherever it goes.

But just on principle... write for yourself, not for your readers. Fear of alienation is one of the things that kill art.

what the hell is bukakke? Sounds like 'baking a cake". Although something tells me it doesn't involve flour and eggs. Maybe frosting. I'm getting old....

It's being tied up in odd positions, by ropes, lol, baking a cake indeed.
In the world's harsh wear and tear many a very sincere attachment is slowly obliterated.

Leave it in!! I assume it's pivotal in the dynamic of a relationship.

Although it can involve being tied up in ropes, bukkake is a naked woman being ejaculated upon by several men, either at once or over and over. It evolved from Japanese porn, which under Japanese law cannot depict sex organs in porn without pixelization (blurring). So to redirect the viewer's attention from genitalia to the issue of genitalia, Japanese porn producers began depicting women covered in ejaculate, or being cum upon by different men. This was soon picked up by western porn in the late 80's and early 90's, and has become mainstream in porn throughout the world.

It's not a turn off for me. In fact, I think we need more Bukkake on Lush. It certainly has the potential to make for a more interesting story than just straight sex styled "our eyes met across a crowded room" and cut to boring hotel room sex. Just write it well and you'll have an audience.

I write some hardcore fare as well, and with the right words you can add that bit of 'classy' to really dirty fantasies and make them appeal to readers that may not even be into the sex act itself. Just be sure to tag the story properly so readers are aware of what you're serving up. Don't be afraid to really go for it. Tell the story you want to tell.

Bukake is when men jerk off all over one's body. The woman has come everywhere. It has nothing to do with being tied up.

You see it mostly with gang bangs....

It is a turn off for me (honestly the thought of it makes me feel a little sick) but if it is important to your story, you should leave it in smile

Great advice Ashleigh. I also was ignorant of the practice so i googled it. What came up was quite frankly discusting and gross, but in today's world of streaching the boundaries, it's going to be popular with many. Not me but many.

It is not a turn off and you should keep it in your story line.

This is from a woman who has actually experience a bakkake and may again in just the right conditions.

As long as it isn't degrading or abusive to the gal. Watching a bunch of cumming cocks might be interesting!

Whether it's a degrading or abusive practice is certainly up for debate, and one of the reasons I started this thread. Bukkake pornogprahy online can vary enormously. The (professional) German and (mainly amateur) British stuff tend to picture the women involved as willing and enthusiastic participants.

On an anecdotal level, I've been to a few bukkake parties in London myself (well over a decade ago now), all of which were organised by the woman or women involved, purely for their own pleasure. (no fees etc).

However, a large proportion of the bukkake videos online seem to come from Japan, the vast, vast majority of which are most definitely degrading to the women involved. Indeed, degradation/sexual humiliation seems to be their rasion d'etre.

So...I was wondering what people were thinking in general. While a few women on this thread have expressed their enthusiasm, or at least curiosity, regarding bukkake., the majority viewpoint seems to be "it's not for me...you should still leave it in the book".

Ok then! Thanks everyone; it's definitely staying in!

LOL. I actually had to look this up and the first description was funny. "A group of men climaxing and squirting ectoplasm". Its not for my liking but I would continue reading if I reached that point in a story.

Not my thing but then again, many of the themes of erotica don't appeal to me. That doesn't mean you should remove it. Up to you really.

There's nothing inherently wrong with sexual variation. One person's gross is another's yum, basically. As long as we're talking consenting adults, everything's fine.

Bukkake is just one practice among many that will divide opinion. If you're going to leave stuff out of a story because you're worried about alienating readers, basically you're going to end up with something strictly vanilla (which in turn will alienate those people who think vanilla is basically paint drying). Just go with what the story needs. If it's integral to the plot, everything else will collapse if the scene isn't there.
