So I've been getting off for years with just my own fingers. Within the last year i got a Trojan fingertip massager just to see if I would like it. It took some getting used to but I did. The best advice I can give is don't try to save money--go with a high-quality, waterproof, rechargeable vibrator. My personal favourites are made by Fun Factory (entirely waterproof, with a feature called a Click 'n Charge that does not require an inlet to recharge), Minna (same sort of recharging, no inlet to allow water into the device--I have the Minna Ola, which is amazing both as a insertable vibrator and a clit stimulator), and Lelo (supposedly waterproof, but they've not got the Click 'N Charge feature, so there's a small inlet for recharging into which water can enter, damaging the device).
You want something in silicone, not PVC or rubber--both of which are impossible to clean thoroughly and will degrade quickly. Check out the Lush Store for ideas--WeVibe and JimmyJane are also companies with excellent reputations, although I don't have any of their products.
Wash your toy(s) after each use with a soap containing triclosan or use a toy cleaner with triclosan--the latter is available in the Lush Store, and also at other sites--Babeland (Google it) specialises in toys for women. Dry thoroughly before recharging.
