I'm thinking about writing a romantic story, will some "hardcore" description devalue the whole romance theme? I'm asking because the last part of trilogy is going to take place after a wedding which is a loving time. The other two are going to have descriptions of the penetration but I was thinking if the last is just solely emotions/feelings it might look out of place.

imo it will make it better. hardcore on, Ms X smile

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

No, it won't. As long as you convey some real emotion between the characters before, during and after the sex it will stay very much romantic. I wrote a story where the male character initiates the sex by choking the female character before continuing to rough anal sex. The comments I received for this story were variations of, "this was unexpectedly romantic"... "I had an awww moment" ... "They longed for each other" etc. As long as the hardcore action makes sense between your characters and the world you create it shouldn't diminish the romantic aspects at all. It might even elevate the romance.

I think if your story is romantic adding hardcore to it then changes the whole theme. Either hardcore all the way or romance. Just my opinion.

Good luck...

No way, I'm with Sprite and Jack on this. You can have a hardcore love story. The passion, the need, the want, the animal craving for that one person. Oh, it can totally be hardcore. Jack nailed it on the head. You'll get so many different comments and I think people will walk away happy and satisfied.

I agree. Romance and hardcore can share the same seat.

Hey, people who are in love, dedicated and romantic have hardcore sex. Hardcore sex doesn't leave you incapable of having healthy, productive relationships. Why not be able to write about it? Reality is much better and more interesting than predictable fantasy--specifically when it comes to the romance genre. There is also an audience for it. I read Harlequin a Romances as a child. I want grown-up stories now.

There's Bette Davis Now, Voyager romance, and then there's the other kind, replete with crazed, over-the-top monkey-sex. Here on Lush, we opt for the latter! Carry on...

It will work quite well. Most of the stories I write are love stories with a strong romantic content. This has proven to be a popular combination .

Why can't two lovers find they enjoy a more hardcore element to sex? I think it would totally work. Often it takes so much trust in a partner to share something like this that it would be a perfect fit in a romantic story. I hope when you write this it as steamy and hot as it sounds already.

Thanks for the feedback, I've already submitted part one. I think I have a different meaning for hardcore as most of you do. When I say hardcore, I think of it like hardcore pornography, full on in your face penetration. Where as softcore is the whole sensual and erotic porn which I prefer.

I can't write a romance story (or love story) to save my life, so it's admirable that you're even giving it a shot.

I was thinking the same thing and I'm a romantic person. These stories are based around me and my boyfriend and I've learnt a lot about love and romance. It doesn't have to be candle lit dinners and rose petals. A real relationship is about having fun with your best friend. My boyfriend and I do just that, we poke fun at one another, we laugh at one another and we show affection for one another. Those little aspects made the story so much easier to write and it showed me how lucky I really am to have him.

Jas, as many others have said, give it a try. LUSH is a great place to try new things: categories, POV, length, etc.. You might want to start with a shorter story, but the main thing is to risk failure.

Just FWIW, I've always found love stories comparatively easy to write. The classic formula, 'Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy get girl back' is tough to beat especially since there are so many interesting variations.

if approached right the love scenes can be both hard core & romantic. with my ex-wife our love making was hard core. we once collapsed a bed & never missed a stroke, but at the time we were still in 'love' so our feelings made it romantic. add the feeling in your story & it could be both. I once lived with a girl that I loved so much it made my heart hurt. but she was so damn sex & sensuous they could have sold videos of our having sex. we shook the house. we would wake up the neighbors with her loud moaning. but again the feelings made the difference.

You can do romance and hardcore, I would recommend some 'tenderness' amidst the full on action to keep the theme alive.

ditto---I agree---one or the other---in a romance the emotions are more important that a description of the mechanics involved
