Couple of things...
The best ways to make friends are:
(1) Comment and vote on stories you like. Writers LOVE feedback and many will answer you/thank you privately if you offer opinion on their work. Writers are whores and easily flattered. Well... I am! Seriously, People READ story comments so it's a good way to let people know your tastes and interests.
(2) Responding to FORUM posts, (whether serious or light-hearted) will also give members an idea of who you are. QUOTING a previous poster you agree/disagree with will often prompt contact from that member. You'll see that it's a pretty free-and-easy way to communicate. Just be yourself!
(3) Chat Rooms. Personally I have NO IDEA how these work, never done that, but many, many members do and meet and connect that way.
(4) WRITE SOMETHING! (If you post and accepted story, it will appear on the 'Front Page' for at least several hours. Because of the size of LS membership, THOUSANDS of members will see it in that time.)
Otherwise, basic common sense applies! Don't give away too much on short acquaintance if you value your privacy. (Though in my experience most people here are EXTREMELY cool.)
Don't come on too strong. Think of Lush Stories as a REALLY COOL cocktail party!!! Behave like a gentleman until you know you don't have to!
