I'm about as straight as they come, but I'm also not allowed to get into any conversation with others which could lead to intimacy, so I'm as off limits as the lesbians.

Yes, it does seem like there's a greater percentage of 'women seeking women- men need not apply' here than supposedly exist in the general population.
I suspect this is probably most true. I imagine that for many straight women on this site, they just can't be bothered with "men" who don't know how to act properly, so they'll claim they're only interested in other women.
And there's probably a percentage, as verbal mentioned, that are men posing as women.
And then there's the women who are genuinely women seeking other women.
Whatever the reason, if they're not interested in you, they're not interested in you. Simple as that. If they are, I'm sure they'll find a way to let you know.
