Undefeated eleven-time five-division professional boxing champion of the world Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the current UFC Lightweight champion Conor McGregor are facing off in a professional boxing fight on the 26th August 2017.

I am an MMA fan too and as much as I'd love to see Conor kick ass I don't think he has a chance. From the looks of it the rules are just stacked in Mayweather's favor. No kicks or take downs and heavier gloves. If it's a straight on boxing match, gotta go with Money.
Be rooting hard for Conor though.

If you missed the press tour, check out the highlights on youtube.
They did 4 stops: LA, Toronto, New York, London
By the last stop Conor was treating the whole thing like a roast on comedy central.
I especially liked seeing Mayweather's meathead entourage take a break from gym, tan, laundry and try to insert themselves into the scene.
How many millions of dollars is this spectacle? People are throwing money in the air and these guys are wearing tank tops?
And did nobody point out the irony? How many domestic violence charges does Floyd have? I'm sure Jimmy Fallon's writing staff are "workshopping" wife beater jokes as we speak....

Reports are out that Conor McGregor got knocked out while sparring in a training for his match with Mayweather. Not a good sign for McGregor fans, especially considering the 14 oz. training gloves compared to the 10 oz. gloves that will be used in the real match. Maybe McGregor broke his concentration. Who knows?
I'm pulling for Irishman but not overly optimistic.

I'm not sure Forbes would be my go-to for mma or boxing news.....

Evidently, Jesse Vargas is the source for this story. Who Knows?
Like I said, I'll pull for the Irishman. I'd love to see Mayweather get clocked. Other than being a great boxer, he's a real shitty person.

There is no "story". Click on one of those links you posted and watch the 3 min video and then tell if you think that it's a "credible source." Tsk, tsk. This is a great example of how fake news gets started. Somebody uploads a shaky 3 minute "interview" onto their phone, and then a bunch of of internet "journalists" jump on in and try to craft a story around it in an effort to maximize the number of 'clicks' they get before they go sit on the toilet and finish off their workday by completing the minimum number of 'tweets' that their parent company has mandated they perform each day. #deathofjournalism
Because we now live in a world where journalists (yes, even sports journalists are journalists) are judged by by how many twitter followers they have and how many clicks they can generate. So it is up to us, the consumers of such readily available information, to discern whether the sources referenced are actually credible.
Now I will applaud you for two things...
First of all, you managed to passively aggressively post 4 shitty sources as opposed to just the usual 1. Congrats.
Second, you made me feel like one of the Conor McGregor fanboys that I've been shaking my head at for the last two years. My interest in Mac has been lukewarm at best, but now I feel like I should be wearing and Irish flag as a cape and chanting "ole, ole, ole, ole,"......whatever the fook that means.

So maybe the promoters of the fight will 'arrange' for it to go the distance. Now I'm just being facetious.

Are you? This whole fight has WWE written all over it. HAHA

btw, i've just signed on to fight the winner, so you KNOW it's the real deal!

Fuck Mayweather. Hate everything about him including his "style." Wife-beating POS.
Don't really care about MMA either though. Unless it's the female circuit. Paige Vanzant is smokin hot.
As for Connor getting knocked out? Welcome to the ridiculous BS of modern boxing story lines. Pumping out stories to make Connor look like a dweeb with even less of a chance than people thought going into it. Logic says that it's his camp pumping these stories out. I have no doubt about that.

Damon, I didn't passively aggressively do anything. Take the links for what they are, vague, yes. True? Who the fuck knows? But it is something that is out there. Is it possible? Yes, wouldn't be the first time a sparring partner takes a shot at a bigger name when they notice they've let their guard down. Or who knows what?
If it is true, then McGregor should have to put a pause in his sparring schedule after suffering a concussion. If there is no pause from sparring then that should show that nothing happened.
I first saw it on Forbes. You mentioned Forbes as not being a great source for MMA news so I looked up and just added a few other link sources.
I think the fight could be great entertainment. A great chance to have a party with a bunch of friends and watch it on the flat screen while consuming large quantities of alcohol, nachos, and dip.

These are the scorecards for the fight.

Bottom line, the hotels, bars, and casinos of Las Vegas were the true winners. Everything was booked solid the weekend before Labor Day.
Quote by DamonXUFC/MMA is still just a fledgling niche sport with a graffiti skinned fan base which doesn't even follow real sports. 50% are just probably on the wagon if you catch my drift. So, allow me to educate you with some facts regarding the fight.
Just watched it....
To all the old school boxing fans chomping your cigars in your smoke filled rooms in bowler hats I hope you realized that your day is done.
When this fight was announced the odds were 26-1 that Conner would win one round. One round! I was wrong because I thought Conner would last 12. I have never seen such a biased commentary in my life. Sugar Ray Leonard, you should be ashamed. I hope the next time you choose to embarrass yourself, you actually do your research.
This entire thing was an attack on mma, from the boxing based commentary to the idiot in the bowtie who not only stopped the fight early but continuously penalized Conner for clinching and rabbit punches even though Floyd did more.
Everyone in the boxing community needed Floyd to "teach McGregor a lesson" but unfortunately this spectacle just indicated a changing of the guard.
A fighter with 0 boxing matches gave the best fighter in history a run for his money.
I can only hope that Conner goes back to real fighting rather than chasing paydays.
