You can't blame one guy for all this crap just like you couldn't logically blame Hitler for WWII.

The Cuban Missile crisis was a close call. There were blokkades, diplomatic pressure and tense negotiations, but not once during the entire crisis has either of the sides threatened the other with actual attacks. Luckily, that crisis was handled by two very experienced politicians who knew when to be diplomats, Nikita Khrushchev and John F. Kennedy.

That is in no way comparable with today's situation, where two guys with funny hair, one a petulant and impulsive businessman with no political experience and no feeling whatsoever for diplomacy, the other a a dictator who is used to getting everything the way he wants it, without the need for diplomacy, and both armed with nuclear weapons are actually talking about attacking each other's country.

Yes it is comparable because all politicians are charlatans with an eye for the main chance I don't care how power mad or which classy tailor makes their clothes. There is no percentage in ending the world and having nothing left to rule over - do you realize that one bomb alone would paralyze the U.K health system? No I'll be very surprized if they decide to do it for what? It always was a con in the cold war and it will continue to be one. They used that scare about Iraq but couched it in double edged rhetoric - Weapons of Mass Destruction which they could pretend they mean other weapons not nuclear when nothing was found. But go on enjoying scaring yourself that they will- this is not some computer game. If they had a nice safe planet to go to somewhere else of course they would have no hesitation in doing over this one but there isn't so they won't. The only people irresponsible enough to use these nasty toys were guess who? And they've never used one since.

I would say the Cuban missile crisis was similar. And my point is not the specific issue anyway. They have these little scares on a regular basis whatever it is. I'm afraid T.S. Elliot's theory is closer to the truth than John the Divine.

Age has its compensations and regarding nuclear war I am cynically optimistic. For most of my life the U.S.A. the U.K. and various other countries in N.A.T.O. along with the U.S.S.R. held us all to ransom with their costly insane exercise called the cold war. The whole thing was a con to distract us all - a sort of unspoken collusion if you like between all concerned and I realized this in 1962. I suggest you all watch Dr Strangelove or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb which was made 2 years later. They'll never do it except by accident so unless Trump really is off his rocker (and in that case you have the cure in your own hands as you got rid of unwanted leaders in the past for fairly mild infringements compared to beginning the end of the world) I suggest you debate important issues like economic related things rather than the fairy tale of Armaggedon.

Oh yes the Syrians are rattling their sabres and getting on their camels and like Lawrence's attack on Akabar are going to sneak across via Russia (with their approval) and launch a surprise attack on the good old USA starting with Alaska.

I kinda get into the characters head (as I'm sure we all do). That's the hard part though, becuase it's what makes the story flow from your fingertips. What I hate is when someone writes in choppy sentences. "I cooked dinner. I poured some red wine. We both love red wine." AAaaargh! someone shoot me if I write like that, lol!

Sometimes this style can be effective if done correctly Ernest Hemingway was a past master at it.

It is, but some people's 'reasonable actions' are undoubtedly founded on an irrational fear of Muslims- that's a definition Islamophobia. Being consciously or unconsciously Islamophobic is irrelevant, as the conclusion is the same.

And finally, do you really think the intelligence/police/communities of this, or any country, are sitting back and doing nothing?!

Yes there was a funeral the other day of the former leader of a terrorist group which a former president of the US praised highly laying a loving hand on the draped coffin. Yet that guy's organization used similar and more effective strategies in the past - such as blowing up department stores and bumping off the odd housewife looking for a new tea towel, or a herd of ceremonial cavalry horses. Not a Muslim in sight and all home grown too.

Topic Breaking News: Terrorist incident in London

Everyone is overreacting to this which is exactly what terrorists want - though in this case I do not believe it was a group effort. It was horrible but pretty pathetic from an attacking point of view. Innocent pedestrians mown down and the perpetrator trying to attack a government building with a knife? This said 2 things - the poor policeman, despite being part of a special squad, should have had training to cope with a knife attack and simultaneously the security around West Minister must be pretty good. So why go on about it in this over the top manner? These guys are amateurs. When it comes to killing people my parents' generation left them standing the world has never really been safer than it is now but it has such instant, blanket and immediate communication things get exaggerated. Makes a good soap box for colourless people like Tersea May to spout cliche slogans. Well Churchill beat her to it. Cue in Elgar, a shot of the white cliffs of Dover - Vera Lynne "We'll Meet Again and with a wave of a cuban cigar ''We shall never surrender.''

Sidney Poitier as Virgil Tibbs in The Heat Of The Night who has just been arrested as a suspect in a murder because he's a black guy in a suit in somewhere like Alabama in the early 60's.

Rod Steiger: And what do you do in Philadelphia to earn that kind of money?

Sidney Poitier: I'm a police officer.

Just so cool I think the movie helped political change in the U.S.

Or Marlon Brando in The Wild One where a young girl ingenuously asks him as the leader of a motor bike gang "What are you rebelling against?" and he replies "Whadaya got?"

As music is the biggest part of my life I felt I should see this ''greatest rock star'' who I've never heard of. I was greeted by some guy mumbling and then shouting incoherent lyrics over a sort of disco type beat I think the song (for want of a better word) was called Black Skinhead or it may have been referring to the gentleman himself as he was black with a shaven skull. With talent like his no wonder he's an avid attention seeker.

If there is no response then you can shrug it off - but if you leave it you will always wonder. Also she may be thinking the same thing ''Why hasn't he contacted me?''
