the USA has a huge problem.

What we have is a real big fearful idiot problem. That's what it comes down to really. Stupid people who are scared. The guns give them a false sense of security and unfortunately they are too stupid to keep them from being stolen and they're too stupid to vote for leaders who will put in place sensible gun control because they fear they might not pass the requirements to own the really cool ones. We have to jump through more hoops to own a car and acquire a license to drive it than we do an assault rifle. It's not madness, it's stupidity.

You forgot to mention that the Zeta's started out as Mexican special forces and were trained at Fort Benning.

Actually the Obama Administration claimed that 90% of crime guns traced back to American gun shops. After walking that back several times it became clear that 90% of firearms submitted for tracing came from America. The percentage of those successfully traced that were actually supplied to the Mexican military and police but diverted to criminal use was apparently too hot to make public. Note that the Mexican police and Mexican army routinely get into gunfights, with each other, because they've both contracted with different cartels to provide security. Notice that if you see a cartel figure under guard in handcuffs, their guards wear uniforms that say "MARINA". They're Mexican Naval infantry, the only force in the country that seems to be immune to the offer of "Oro o Plomo".

https://upload.lushstories.com/182726185-Mex.jpg

Having been caught fudging the numbers, the Obama administration needed to pump up the numbers, and both we and the Mexican people got "Fast and Furious."

https://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/gun-running-timeline-how-doj-s-operation-fast-and-furious-unfolded

ATF management continues to deny that Fast and Furious was designed to pump up the numbers, but field agents actually involved in the operation say it was. Note that no official attempt was ever made to track the weapons sold to Sinaloa operatives, and field agents who objected were told to stand down. But thanks for your input!

So what... That doesn't change that the heavy supply of guns makes it easier to kill people. Your argument is that more guns makes people safer... It doesn't. Are you saying that if all the Mexican citizens had guns too that it would be safer? It wouldn't be. And it doesn't change the fact that Mexican Cartels have more money than they can spend. They can afford to pay off anyone. Even American officials. You argue that Mexicans have a violent society as the cause of gun violence in Mexico but that's not the case. Cartels in Mexico are violent, not the people. And those cartels are violent because of all the money that Americans funnel to them. You will not read a story about a lone gunmen killing two dozen People at once in a town of less than 1,000 in Mexico. You just won't. The Cartel violence, for lack of a better word isn't senseless or random. It's a well calculated business move. The cause of it is very obvious.

Do you even realized that you just made an argument against your own stance? Fugly

I think he's shooting his arguments from the hip..

The murder rate in Tombstone AZ was actually pretty low for the time period. You want high murder rates? Try New York City in the 1890's Higher than anyplace out west despite having some pretty draconian gun laws of its own. Nice try though.

Was that before or after the Earps took the guns away? You didn't really answer the question.

You can't just compare countries like that. Japan has strict gun laws and a low rate of firearms violence. QED? Not so fast. Japanese-Americans have the same Second Amendment rights as every other US citizen yet have even lower rates of firearms violence than their cousins in Japan. Many countries have low rates of firearms violence, low rates of violence of any kind in fact yet have high rates of firearms ownership. Many countries have very draconian gun laws and high rates of firearms violence. Mexico is one example. Violent societies have violence with guns or without. Less violent societies have less violence with guns or without. But thanks for trying.

Japan has one of the most violent histories in the world... Their media is very violent and twisted too. You can't just say it's because Japanese aren't violent. And also all those guns in Mexico come from America. So does the money that funds the cartel. It's America and their love of drugs that have created the cartels in Mexico. Cartels often trade for guns with criminals in America. And yes the guns that criminals have are also purchased legally at one point. One of the number one thing that burglars steal is guns. People having way too many guns legally is the reason the criminals have them. Guns don't just magically appear, they aren't created in garages, and most are made in America. Mexico won't ever get rid of the cartels and guns as long as the current version of America is their neighbor. It's like trying to keep dog shit of your lawn if your neighbor walks their twenty dogs in front of your house every morning.

Pretty obvious who funds the problems in Mexico.

Every cartel cash stash looks like that.

In the Wild West didn't everyone have pistols on them and wasn't the murder rate really high? I wonder why Wyatt Earp insisted on taking all the guns away from everyone in tombstone. I mean if everyone having a gun was keeping everyone safe... why did he insist on taking the guns away?

I have been described by a few Lushies as having an Alpha male petsona here, which is odd, because that's not the vibe I feel I give off (or intend to give off).

You don't, don't worry.

Hey guess what people are calling the person who chased the shooter down, that's right, a hero, and guess what he had with him to make that fool run like a coward, that's right a gun.

Wasn't the shooter already finished with his killing spree? Like he was already going for his vehicle. The hero citizen actually ensured that the shooter wouldn't be taken alive which would have been the best result. And what if the guy exiting the church was another citizen who tackled the shooter and was taking the gun outside with him or something? In this case maybe it was more obvious but there are a lot and I mean a lot of stupid people in America who own guns. I in no way want them making decisions like that.

You do realize this was done by a white guy who killed 26 white people in a white church in a white community, right? Gun laws should be enforced unilaterally. Jokes like this aren't helpful, there is enough hate in the world.

She wasn't telling a joke and she wasn't being hateful. dumb maybe... but not hateful.

I support sensible firearm control but it's also trucks, cars, bombs, poison in the mail, or whatever works to kill people. I want to get to the reason of why these type of attacks has become part of our society. A gun, a bomb, a truck, a car, poison, etc. none of that is the root cause of the violence, just the tools used.

You can treat the symptoms but that does not get rid of the cancer.

How come no one has been able to kill dozens of people at the same time with mail poison though?

More right wing fucking bullshit. You're just posting slime created by creatures related to Roger Stone - the disciple of Lee KINGMOTHERFUCKER Atwater.

Frederica Wilson wasn't the ONLY person who voted against the crap you are trying to slime her with. Have you even bothered to read what those various bills contained which may have led her and in several cases, dozens of other Democrats and Republicans to cast a Nay vote? I fucking doubt it. I haven't read those bills myself, and I am pretty fucking sure you haven't either.

http://www.pacificpundit.com/2017/10/19/frederica-wilson-voted-against-death-and-burial-benefits-for-afghanistan-families/

Mrs Wilson was sitting in that car with the widow of Sgt Johnson because she was/is a close friend of the family and was invited to ride with them as they were heading to the airport to meet the casket carrying Sgt Johnson's remains, when Trump made his call to express his fucking zero empathy opinions.

Trump called this particular family only after he was asked a point blank question about why he hadn't mentioned any of the 4 servicemen killed in action in Niger. Trump of course, bald-faced lied to the tv cameras and the reporters when he stated he'd called everyone already, when in fact, he hadn't called a single family of any deceased servicemen yet in 2017. In the entire fucking year, he hasn't called anyone. He only hustled to do so after he lied about having already done so.

I'd call Trump a lying fucking cocksucker, but then I'd be defaming noble cocksuckers - by association. He's got the nerve to accuse Wilson of listening in on a private phone call, when the call was answered and placed on speakerphone by an Army representative who was also riding in the vehicle with everyone else. John Kelley AND Trump have the gall to call Wilson on the carpet for listening in on a private call, when Kelley and several others in the Oval Office were sitting in on this so-called private call where Trump mangled what Kelley had coached him to say. The hypocrisy shown by Kelley and Trump is - normal, these days. Any other time, it would be appalling. But Trump has normalized atrocious.

Joy Reid states this entire affair with less anger than I can: https://www.thedailybeast.com/frederica-wilson-vs-trump-and-now-john-kelly-easygo-with-wilson

i'd like to thank MF for so well illustrating why this, and the HW, thread exist. people have commented on 'why didn't she speak up, say something, report him, etc'. it's because of attitudes like this. we're not taken seriously. we're dismissed. it's joked about. obviously, it's not funny to the person who's been the subject of harassment or assault. but yeah, at some point in time, you realize that speaking up is akin to banging your head against the wall. sure, some of what we've been talking about in here have been "minor incidents", but how many of us have put up with all the little things, day in and day out, without anyone stepping in and saying 'that's not right' or without feeling comfortable about confronting the perpetrator for whatever reason. their position of power, their physical power, the cultural power that backs them up.

we get comments daily about our asses, whistled at, leered at and we're told to lighten up if we respond negatively. that's just a step away from giving permission to be fondled or groped, which in turn, a step away from being assaulted, but yeah, just lighten up. and yeah, we've all done it. instead of confrontation, we've ducked into a crowded store so we're safe. we've stayed home so we're safe. we keep our backs to the wall so we're safe. we stay at home so we're safe. we don't go out at night so we're safe. but yeah, lighten up, girls.

yeah, make jokes. the thing is, unless it's happened to you, you have no idea how it feels. anyone whose gone through it doesn't think it's funny, and doesn't think it's something to be taken lightly. i just hope that his attitude, his presence, doesn't put people off about participating her, about speaking up, about not allowing themselves to be silenced.

Rachel deleted my post because it was a good response to her ridiculous post she made trying to paint me as some villain. It is clear that she is trying to make me look bad, if that is the case why not make my words, from my own mouth/keyboard illustrate that? Why delete them? Seriously why? Why not make my own words prove her point? Because they don't. Her post is clearly an attack to make herself look like some kind of hero to the stupid or something. If I was truly being an asshole my words would not need to be deleted. Her intent is to make me look like an asshole, why delete the posts she claims make me one? Doesn't make sense does it?

What I said was, "Water is wet, the sky is blue... jazz fans are annoying", in response to a "person" (because god forbid I use a members actual name... but its obvious who) who came in here acting like a hero of this cause when in other threads he has proven to be the opposite. He has proven to be a victim blamer. It is absolutely absurd to blame me for calling that out in this thread as the cause for people being scared to post in this thread rather than a person who is actually the cause for people keeping quiet. A slut shamer, victim blamer, like, this member in question is the reason people keep quiet not me because I point it out. Actually I'm a piggy who stuffs a sock in a wolf's mouth when he tries to blow my house down yet sprite thinks it's better to pull the sock out. It's so twisted, especially in a thread meant to let people vent. He comes in here to superficially act like he's about the cause but in reality he's one of the worst people. And then this sprite protects him, what in the fuck? It's so twisted and wrong.
